Dr. Timon Rabczuk, a chaired professor of Computational Mechanics at the Bauhaus University Weimar in Germany, has been named the Editor-in-Chief of Computers, Materials & Continua, the scientific journal of Tech Science Press (TSP).

Dr. Timon Rabczuk, officially starts his five-year term on . In this role, he will be responsible for leading editorial board members in setting strategic directions and other editorial content of journal CMC.

Dr. Rabczuk’s research interests include integrated computational materials engineering, computational materials design and computational (solid) mechanics with emphasis on method development; isogeometric analysis and innovative methods for moving boundary/interface problems as they occur in a fracture, fluid-structure interaction, optimization, inverse analysis or image registration to name a few applications. He has published more than 300 articles in numerous peer-reviewed international journals indexed by SCI. In 2014, he was named a member of the Modeling Market Place (MMP) Working Group of the European Materials Modeling Council (EMMC). In 2015, he was elected as a member of the EU Academy of Sciences for his innovative research in the field of computational mechanics.

Dr. Rabczuk has directed the Institute of Structural Mechanics at Bauhaus University. He also served as the editorial board member of multiple journals. He is the recipient of multiple awards such as Feodor-Lynen Forschungsstipendium, Marie-Curie Intra-European Fellowship, etc.

“I will invite more scholars with expertise in the various topics of the broad fields of computational mechanics and computational materials science to join CMC’s editorial board,” Dr. Rabczuk said. “I hope that the CMC can reach a new height by attracting high quality papers and cultivating pioneering researchers.”
