ABSTRACT = {<b>Introduction:</b> Diet has been linked to prostate cancer risk. Dietary modification may inhibit prostate cancer progression.<br/>
<b>Materials and methods:</b> As part of a randomized trial, we analyzed the effect of a diet based intervention on 25 prostate cancer patients who had previously undergone surgery or radiation.<br/>
<b>Results and conclusions:</b> In the intervention arm, vegetable intake increased (p < 0.05), fat intake decreased (p < 0.05), and mean plasma levels of ß-carotene and total carotenoids increased (p < 0.05). In the control arm, there were no significant changes in diet or blood carotenoids. These data support the feasibility of studying dietary interventions as salvage or adjuvant therapy after surgery or radiation for localized prostate cancer.},
