To give full play to the flexible power regulation capability of VSC-MTDC, this paper focus on the day-ahead flexible scheduling model for multi-area AC/DC interconnected power grids with VSC-MTDC, and proposes a flexible operational model of VSC-MTDC based on master-slave control that considers the switching between rectification and inversion states. Firstly, binary (0–1) variables are introduced based on the Big-M method to characterize the power transmission states (rectification/inversion) of VSC converter stations, and a flexible operational model of VSC-MTDC under the master–slave control scheme is developed to fully tap the flexible and controllable power regulation potential of VSCs. Secondly, a day-ahead multi-scenario stochastic optimal scheduling model for interconnected power grids is established, in which the power regulation flexibility of VSC-MTDC is utilized to promote the coordinated operation and mutual support of various resources across multiple regions. Finally, case studies are carried out based on a four-region flexible interconnected power grids to verify the effectiveness of the proposed model. The results show that the proposed model can effectively enhance the complementary operation capability of flexible interconnected power grids, while improving the overall operational economy and flexibility of the power system.
