Abstract The present study focused on the segregation of the percentage of grains with chalkiness (PGWC), using Huanghuazhan as the female parent and CS197 as the male parent to construct the hybrid rice F2 population. Molecular markers were used for genotype analysis among the extremely low and extremely high PGWC individuals from the F2 population. The results revealed that the genotypes of 10 extremely low PGWC individuals were 80.00% and 3.33%, which is identical to Huanghuazhan and CS197, respectively. The heterozygotes accounted for 16.67%. On the contrary, the genotypes of 10 extremely high PGWC individuals were 37.78%… More >

    Yao-Liang Chung1,*, Hung-Yuan Chung2, Yu-Shan Chen2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.2, pp. 367-383, 2020, DOI:10.31209/2020.100000206

Abstract In this study, we introduce an algorithm which is based on a series of wellknown algorithms and mainly uses an improved dark channel prior algorithm and the White-Patch Retinex algorithm (both are heterogeneous algorithms) in order to effectively remove the haze from a single image. When used in conjunction with a heterogeneous architecture, the value of the algorithm becomes even greater. With an effective design and a novel procedure, the proposed algorithm can not only restore a clear image, but also solve the halo effect, color distortion, and long operating time issues resulting from the More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.64, No.3, pp. 1929-1944, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.010556 - 30 June 2020

Abstract The prediction of particles less than 2.5 micrometers in diameter (PM2.5) in fog and haze has been paid more and more attention, but the prediction accuracy of the results is not ideal. Haze prediction algorithms based on traditional numerical and statistical prediction have poor effects on nonlinear data prediction of haze. In order to improve the effects of prediction, this paper proposes a haze feature extraction and pollution level identification pre-warning algorithm based on feature selection and integrated learning. Minimum Redundancy Maximum Relevance method is used to extract low-level features of haze, and deep confidence More >

Fast Single Image Haze Removal Method for Inhomogeneous Environment Using Variable Scattering Coefficient

    Rashmi Gupta1, Manju Khari1, Vipul Gupta1, Elena Verdú2, Xing Wu3, Enrique Herrera-Viedma4, Rubén González Crespo2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.123, No.3, pp. 1175-1192, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.010092 - 28 May 2020

Abstract The images capture in a bad environment usually loses its fidelity and contrast. As the light rays travel towards its destination they get scattered several times due to the tiny particles of fog and pollutants in the environment, therefore the energy gets lost due to multiple scattering till it arrives its destination, and this degrades the images. So the images taken in bad weather appear in bad quality. Therefore, single image haze removal is quite a bit tough task. Significant research has been done in the haze removal algorithm but in all the techniques, the… More >

Robust Color Fastness of Dyed Silk Fibroin Film By Coupling Modification Dyeing with Aniline Diazonium Salt

ZONGQIAN WANG, HAIWEI YANG, JIAN XING, ZHI LIU*

    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 149-159, 2019, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2019.36.02.4

Abstract Colored silk fibroin (SF) film can change the proportion of transmitted light composition and therefore shows potential application in optoelectronics area. However, few methods are reported for the preparation of colored SF film with good color fastness. Herein, colored SF film was prepared by coupling modification dyeing (CM-dyeing) of SF tyrosine residues in solution. SF film shows excellent color fastness due to the formation of the azo covalent bond formed by electrophilic substitution reaction between SF tyrosine residues and aniline diazonium salt. Furthermore, compared with the undyed film, the dyed SF film is effectively preserved More >

CHUNYAN LIU*, YUNHE LIU, ZIHAN PAN, QIUTING LI, HAN XU, TAO LIU

    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 87-99, 2019, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2019.36.01.7

Abstract In this work, a series of novel lignin-based bis-benzoxazine monomers were efficiently synthesized by the reaction of renewable phenols: guaiacol, vanillyl alcohol, eugenol, vanillin with ethylene diamine and paraformaldehyde. The chemical structures of these lignin-based bis-benzoxazine monomers were confirmed by 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR and FTIR, indicating the formation of benzoxazine ring. The obtained bis-benzoxazine monomers were cured via thermal treatment. The curing behavior of these lignin-based bis-benzoxazine monomers were compared and analyzed via differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), showing that Va-e possessed higher ring-opening polymerization activity than G-e, while E-e and V-e had lower curing activity than G-e. Abstract Cyanobacteria are considered as a sustainable feedstock for the production of biochemically active compounds such as phycobiliproteins (PBPs). In this study, the impact of nitrogen (N) and phosphorus (P) availability on PBP production of “N-free acclimated” Anabaena variabilis IMU8 was analyzed. Upon isolation and identification, the cyanobacterium has been maintained in N-free BG-11 medium for more than 20 months. For experimentation, the strain was incubated in N-replete, N-depleted, N-P-depleted BG-11 medium. Long-term diazotrophic cultivation of A. variabilis IMU8 resulted in elevated PBP productivity with a limited impact on growth. When compared to N-depleted ones, N supply stimulated More >
