Obtaining Crisp Priorities for Triangular and Trapezoidal Fuzzy Judgments

    Raman Kumar Goyal1, Jaskirat Singh1, Nidhi Kalra1, Anshu Parashar1,*, Gagan Singla2, Sakshi Kaushal2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.41, No.1, pp. 157-170, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.018962 - 08 October 2021

Abstract This paper proposes anoptimal fuzzy-based model for obtaining crisp priorities for Fuzzy-AHP comparison matrices. Crisp judgments cannot be given for real-life situations, as most of these include some level of fuzziness and complexity. In these situations, judgments are represented by the set of fuzzy numbers. Most of the fuzzy optimization models derive crisp priorities for judgments represented with Triangular Fuzzy Numbers (TFNs) only. They do not work for other types of Triangular Shaped Fuzzy Numbers (TSFNs) and Trapezoidal Fuzzy Numbers (TrFNs). To overcome this problem, a sum of squared error (SSE) based optimization model is… More >

Efficient Model for Emergency Departments: Real Case Study

    Mohamed Abdel-Basset1, Abduallah Gamal1, Rehab Mohamed1, Mohamed Abouhawwash2,3,*, Abdulwahab Almutairi4, Osama M. ELkomy1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.70, No.2, pp. 4053-4073, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.020048 - 27 September 2021

Abstract There are several challenges that hospitals are facing according to the emergency department (ED). The main two issues are department capacity and lead time. However, the lack of consensus on performance criteria to evaluate ED increases the complication of this process. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the efficiency of the emergency department in 20 Egyptian hospitals (12 private and 8 general hospitals) based on 13 performance metrics. This research suggests an integrated evaluation model assess ED under a framework of plithogenic theory. The proposed framework addressed uncertainty and ambiguity in information with an efficient… More >

Evaluating and Ranking Mobile Learning Factors Using a Multi-criterion Decision-making (MCDM) Approach

    Quadri Noorulhasan Naveed1, Ali M. Aseere1, AbdulHafeez Muhammad2, Saiful Islam3, Mohamed Rafik N. Qureshi3, Ansar Siddique4,*, Mohammad Rashid Hussain1, Samreen Shahwar5

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.29, No.1, pp. 111-129, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.015009 - 12 May 2021

Abstract The escalating growth in digital technology is setting the stage for changes in university education, as E-learning brings students and faculties outside the contained classroom environment. While mobile learning is considered an emerging technology, there is comprehensive literature on mobile learning and its applications. However, there has been relatively little research on mobile learning recognition and readiness compared to mobile learning studies and implementations. The advent of mobile learning (M-learning) provides additional flexibility in terms of time and location. M-learning lacks an established place in university education. The influence of its critical success factors (CSFs)… More >

Evaluation of Environmental Quality for Abandoned Coal Mine Based on Environmental Vulnerability Index

    Peng Qi1,*, Yu Shang2,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.3, pp. 727-736, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014203 - 22 March 2021

Abstract With the increasingly prominent environmental problems of abandoned coal mines, this paper discussed the significance of environmental vulnerability assessment of abandoned coal mines. Environmental vulnerability assessment is essentially an assessment of environmental quality. At present, the research object of environmental impact assessment method and program of mine is mostly single factor. However, the impact of abandoned coal mine on the environment is multifaceted, which was summarized into nine prominent common problems. Based on these nine factors, the environmental vulnerability assessment model of abandoned coal mine based on multifactor evaluation was established by using the analytic More >

Analytic Hierarchy Process for Evaluating Flipped Classroom Learning

Husam Jasim Mohammed1,*, Hajem Ati Daham2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.3, pp. 2229-2239, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014445 - 28 December 2020

Abstract In reality, the flipped classroom has gained popularity as a modern way of structuring teaching, where lectures move from in-class procedures to digitally-based assignments, freeing up the debate, and practice exercises class time. Therefore, it is essential to implement and analyze a way of teaching that will improve student performance. The paper aims to develop a model of the method of teaching science in Iraqi schools, and to assess whether teaching flipped classroom affects the achievement, motivation, and creative thinking of students by using the methodology of Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) in the Analytic Hierarchy… More >

Decision Support Strategy in Selecting Natural Fiber Materials for Automotive Side-Door Impact Beam Composites

    M. A. Shaharuzaman1,2,4, S. M. Sapuan1,3,*, M. R. Mansor2,4, M. Y. M. Zuhri1,3

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.7, No.10, pp. 997-1010, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2019.07529

Abstract The enforcement on sustainable design and environmental-friendly products has attracted the interest of researchers and engineers in the context of replacing metals and synthetic fibers with natural based fibers, especially in the automotive industry. However, studies on sustainable natural fiber material selection in the automotive industry are limited. Evaluation for the side-door impact beam was conducted by gathering product design specification from literature which amounted to seven criteria and it was forwarded to ten decision makers with automotive engineering and product design background for evaluation. The weightage required for decision-making was obtained using the Analytic… More >
