    Raed Alhamad1,*, Hatem Boujemaa2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 5233-5244, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.030793 - 28 July 2022

Abstract In this article, we optimize the powers associated to Non Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) users, sensing and harvesting duration for Cognitive Radio Networks (CRN). The secondary source harvests energy from node A signal. Then, it senses the channel to detect primary source. Then, the secondary source transmits a signal that is reflected by Intelligent Reflecting Surfaces (IRS) so that all reflections have a zero phase at any user. A set Ii of reflectors are associated to user Ui. The use of M = Mi = 512, 256, 128, 64, 32, 16, 8 reflectors per user offers 45, 42, 39, More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 5411-5422, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.029317 - 28 July 2022

Abstract In this paper, we report a simulation study on the performance enhancement of Praseodymium doped silica fiber amplifiers (PDFAs) in O-band (1270–1350 nm) in terms of small signal gain, power conversion efficiency (PCE), and output optical power by employing bidirectional pumping. The PDFA performance is examined by optimizing the length of Praseodymium doped silica fiber (PDF), its mode-field diameter (MFD) and the concentration of Pr3+. A small-signal peak gain of 56.4 dB, power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 47%, and output optical power of around 1.6 W (32 dBm) is observed at optimized parameters for input signal More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 5671-5686, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.027443 - 28 July 2022

Abstract With the rapid economic growth and improved living standards, electricity has become an indispensable energy source in our lives. Therefore, the stability of the grid power supply and the conservation of electricity is critical. The following are some of the problems facing now: 1) During the peak power consumption period, it will pose a threat to the power grid. Enhancing and improving the power distribution infrastructure requires high maintenance costs. 2) The user's electricity schedule is unreasonable due to personal behavior, which will cause a waste of electricity. Jiamao Li1,2,*, Chuimin Zhang1, Lin Li1, Chuangang Fan1,*, Zhaofang He3, Yuandi Qian3

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3439-3458, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.021214 - 14 July 2022

Abstract The purpose of this paper was to explore the possibility of using low-alkalinity cementitious materials as binders, in which ground blast furnace slag and fly ash acted as a partial replacement of ordinary Portland cement, and CaSO4, Na2SO4, and CaO were used as a sulfate activator and alkali-activated additives, to solidify gold mine tailings for preparation of a green, inexpensive cemented paste backfill (CPB). For this target, the effects of cement/ tailings ratio, superplasticizer dosage, solid content, tailings fineness on the mechanical properties of the CPB were investigated. Additionally, the hydration mechanism of the CPB was… More >

    Kangze Yuan1, Kui Liu1,2,*, Guoyang Yi3, Bowen Yang2

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3611-3627, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.022458 - 14 July 2022

Abstract Cement Stabilized Loess (CSL) sample has a long history as a method of improving building foundations. In this paper, the main physical (specific gravity, consistency limit, optimum moisture content, and maximum dry density) and mechanical properties (Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) and shear strength parameters) of CSL samples with different cement content were investigated, and the change reasons were explored by mean of SEM test. Meanwhile, quantitative analysis software Image-Pro Plus (IPP) 6.0 was used to characterize the microstructural evolution of pores in compacted loess and CSL sample. As the cement content increased, the specific gravity… More > Graphic Abstract

Investigation on Thermal Insulation and Mechanical Strength of Lightweight Aggregate Concrete and Porous Mortar in Cold Regions

    Jianan Wu1, Ke Xue2, Zhaowei Ding3, Lei Lang3, Kang Gu3, Xiaolin Li4, Mingli Zhang5, Desheng Li3,6,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3167-3183, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.020265 - 14 July 2022

Abstract Thermal insulation is an important indicator to evaluate the construction material in cold region engineering. As we know, adding the industrial waste as lightweight aggregate or creating the pore inside the cement-based composite could make the texture loose, and the thermal insulating capacity of the material would be improved with this texture. Using these methods, the industrial by-product and engineering waste could be cycled in an efficient way. Moreover, after service the fragmented cement composites paste could be used as aggregate in the thermal insulating concrete again. While the porous texture is not favorable for… More > Graphic Abstract

    Bo Zhang1,2, Keqing Li1,2, Siqi Zhang1,2, Yafei Hu1,2, Bin Han1,2,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.12, pp. 3539-3558, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.021845 - 14 July 2022

Abstract Cemented paste backfill (CPB) is a sustainable mining technology that is widely used in mines and helps to improve the mine environment. To investigate the relationship between aggregate grading and different affecting factors and the uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of the cemented paste backfill (CPB), Talbol gradation theory and neural networks is used to evaluate aggregate gradation to determine the optimum aggregate ratio. The mixed aggregate ratio with the least amount of cement (waste stone content river sand content = 7:3) is obtained by using Talbol grading theory and pile compactness function and combined with… More > Graphic Abstract
