Wei Chen, Xin Gao*, Zhanhong Wei, Xusheng Yang, Zhao Li

    Energy Engineering, Vol.122, No.2, pp. 805-821, 2025, DOI:10.32604/ee.2025.059779 - 31 January 2025

Abstract This paper deeply introduces a brand-new research method for the synchronous characteristics of DC microgrid bus voltage and an improved synchronous control strategy. This method mainly targets the problem of bus voltage oscillation caused by the bifurcation behavior of DC microgrid converters. Firstly, the article elaborately establishes a mathematical model of a single distributed power source with hierarchical control. On this basis, a small-world network model that can better adapt to the topology structure of DC microgrids is further constructed. Then, a voltage synchronization analysis method based on the main stability function is proposed, and… More >

    Maris Lauberts1,*, Janis Rizikovs1, Matiss Pals1, Karl Pebo2

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.13, No.1, pp. 115-126, 2025, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2024.056815 - 20 January 2025

Abstract Research-based on lignin as a bioproduct has grown due to its high availability, reactivity, physicochemical stability, and abundance of different aromatic units. Lignin consists of various functional groups, which can react in various chemical reactions and serve as a raw material in various processes to obtain multiple products. These characteristics make lignin suitable for synthesizing products from natural raw materials, replacing fossil ones. Due to a high aromatic variety and complex structural arrangement, lignin isolation and fractionation are still challenging. The aim and novelty of this work was the modification of severity and enzymatic hydrolysis… More >

    Oncology Research, Vol.33, No.1, pp. 57-65, 2025, DOI:10.32604/or.2024.049054 - 20 December 2024

Abstract Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) are effective in a subset of patients with metastatic solid tumors. However, the patients who would benefit most from ICIs in biliary tract cancer (BTC) are still controversial. Materials and methods: We molecularly characterized tissues and blood from 32 patients with metastatic BTC treated with the ICI pembrolizumab as second-line therapy. Results: All patients had microsatellite stable (MSS) type tumors. Three of the 32 patients achieved partial response (PR), with an objective response rate (ORR) of 9.4% (95% confidence interval [CI], 2.0–25.2) and nine showed stable disease (SD), exhibiting a disease… More >

Multi-Step Clustering of Smart Meters Time Series: Application to Demand Flexibility Characterization of SME Customers

    Santiago Bañales1,2,*, Raquel Dormido1, Natividad Duro1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.142, No.1, pp. 869-907, 2025, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2024.054946 - 17 December 2024

Abstract Customer segmentation according to load-shape profiles using smart meter data is an increasingly important application to vital the planning and operation of energy systems and to enable citizens’ participation in the energy transition. This study proposes an innovative multi-step clustering procedure to segment customers based on load-shape patterns at the daily and intra-daily time horizons. Smart meter data is split between daily and hourly normalized time series to assess monthly, weekly, daily, and hourly seasonality patterns separately. The dimensionality reduction implicit in the splitting allows a direct approach to clustering raw daily energy time series… More > Graphic Abstract

Synthesis and characterizations of Cu2MgSnS4 nanoparticles by solvothermal method

    H. Guan*, J. X. Xu, Z. Y. Yang, X. Y. Qian, M. Q. Zhao

    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.21, No.2, pp. 169-173, 2024, DOI:10.15251/CL.2024.212.169

Abstract Cu2MgSnS4 (CMTS) nanoparticles are successfully prepared via a solvothermal approach. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Raman reveal that pure zinc-blende CMTS phase is obtained. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) shows that CMTS nanoparticles exhibit microsphere structure. The band gap of as-obtained CMTS nanoparticles is calculated to be 1.68eV, indicating a potential candidate for tandem solar cells. The degradation rate of methylene blue (MB) with under visible-light irradiation is about 87%, indicating that CMTS can be useful for effective visible-light photocatalyst. More >

    A. A. Mansoura, H. A. Salmanb, S. A. Abdul Wahabc, N. F. Habubic, S. S. Chiadd,*, Z. S. A. Mosac, Y. H. Kadhimd

    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.21, No.3, pp. 275-284, 2024, DOI:10.15251/CL.2024.213.275

Abstract To grow SnS films, the spray pyrolysis deposition (SPD) process is applied. The films were deposited at various substrate temperatures (ST) of 400, 450, and 500 degrees Celsius for two hours. Through XRD analysis, the impact of ST on the structure was investigated. Peak (113) crystallite sizes were 13.16, 21.48, and 38.87 nm, respectively, at base temperatures of (400, 450, and 500) ℃. The effect of ST on the structure was examined using XRD analysis. Preparation and characterization of ZnO@MoS2 nanocomposites: investigating photoelectrical, electrocatalytic, and electrochemical behaviors

    J. M. Shi*, H. F. Zhang, H. C. Wang

    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.21, No.3, pp. 263-274, 2024, DOI:10.15251/CL.2024.213.263

Abstract This study presents the synthesis and characterization of 3D ZnO@MoS2 nanocomposites, demonstrating their superior performance in photoelectrochemical applications. Employing a combination of hydrothermal and solvothermal methods, the research focuses on creating heterostructures with optimized interfacial characteristics. The ZnO@MoS2 composites show a substantial increase in photocurrent density (1.02 mA/cm²), compared to ZnO nanorods (0.32 mA/cm²), underlining enhanced charge separation efficiency. In electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution, the heterostructures exhibit a lower onset potential (-175 mV vs RHE) and reduced Tafel slope (51 mV/dec), indicating improved catalytic activity over MoS2 nanosheets. Additionally, the composites demonstrate a significant increase in electrochemical capacitance (398 More >

    Chalcogenide Letters, Vol.21, No.4, pp. 335-342, 2024, DOI:10.15251/CL.2024.214.335

Abstract This work presents a facile hydrothermal synthesis method for fabricating a multifunctional composite of copper zinc tin sulfide (CZTS) nanoparticles coated onto sepiolite fibers. Morphological analysis confirms the firm attachment of approximately 10 nm CZTS nanoparticles onto the sepiolite surface. Elemental analysis verifies the presence of constituent elements from both CZTS and sepiolite, with a slight deficiency in Cu and an abundance of Zn observed. The compositional formula of CZTS in the composite is estimated as Cu1.93Zn1.05Sn0.98S4.04. Notably, the material exhibits a narrow band gap of 1.5 eV, enabling effective utilization of the entire visible light More >

Ag2S-CdS/Ag/GNP nanocomposite materials were studied by Xray diffraction (XRD), Ultraviolet-Visible (UV-Vis), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), Raman spectroscopy and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). Based on the results, Ag nanowires (NWs) were successfully synthesized, and then it was determined that during the hybridization process, two phases of acanthite Ag2S and the cubic crystal system of Ag2O were formed. Then, Ag2S-CdS NWs were formed from mixed monoclinic Ag2S and hexagonal CdS. In the absorption spectrum… More >
