    Abstract This paper presents a simple graphic method for detecting and classifying faults in point mechanisms based on the study of some statistical parameters of the force and current signals of the point machine. Principal Components Analysis (PCA) employed in order to reduce the number of these parameters. PCA is utilised in this paper for modifying the parameter dataset, and reducing the coordinate system by linear transformation.     Abstract This paper presents methodologies for fracture analysis of concrete structural components with and without considering tension softening effect. Stress intensity factor (SIF) is computed by using analytical approach and finite element analysis. In the analytical approach, SIF accounting for tension softening effect has been obtained as the difference of SIF obtained using linear elastic fracture mechanics (LEFM) principles and SIF due to closing pressure.     Abstract Soil arsenic contamination becomes a potential agricultural and environmental hazard worldwide, and has been a serious problem for safe food production. A field experiment on soil contamination was conducted on four wheat varieties (Jimai, Gaoyou, Weimai and Wennong) in Eastern China, using 50 or 100 mg arsenic/kg soil. Biomass production and yield components were determined and arsenic concentrations were measured in plant tissues. Differential arsenic effects on wheat varieties were determined at maturity.     Abstract Kinetics of the ordered phase growth in a melted multi-component liquid crystalline mixture subjected to a deep cooling was studied using polarizing optical microscopy. The droplets of the ordered phase revealed in the optical images across the phase transition were segmented and treated statistically. In the resulting histograms, two overlapping statistical ensembles related to two main components of the mixture were recognized.     Abstract In this paper, an undisturbed soil-column infiltrating experiment is investigated, and a mathematical model describing multi-components solutes transport behaviors in the column is put forward by combing hydro-chemical analysis with advection dispersion mechanisms, which is a group of advection-dispersion-reaction partial differential equations. Since the model involving six reaction coefficients which can not be obtained directly, an optimal perturbation regularization algorithm of determining these parameters is performed, and numerical simulations under different conditions are carried out.
