    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.2, pp. 2045-2060, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.018303

Abstract Due to the explosion of network data traffic and IoT devices, edge servers are overloaded and slow to respond to the massive volume of online requests. A large number of studies have shown that edge caching can solve this problem effectively. This paper proposes a distributed edge collaborative caching mechanism for Internet online request services scenario. It solves the problem of large average access delay caused by unbalanced load of edge servers, meets users’ differentiated service demands and improves user experience. In particular, the edge cache node selection algorithm is optimized, and a novel edge cache replacement strategy considering the… More >

Abstract Patellar tendinopathy is a clinical symptom of patellar tendons characterized by local pain in the front of the knee joint. It is common among basketball and volleyball players. Patients with patellar tendinopathy may exhibit different landing strategies during landing compared to healthy individuals. The purpose of this study was to compare the differences in lower limb joint energy dissipation (eccentric work) values for the symptomatic patellar tendinopathy (PT) athletes and no patellar tendinopathy (UPT) athletes during single-leg landing. A total of 26 (PT: 13, UPT:13) semi-professional male basketball and volleyball player’s kinetic data were collected during the landing phases. Joint… More >

Abstract This paper studies the contribution of CFRP (carbon fiber-reinforced polymer) to the mechanical behavior of high strength concrete-filled square steel tube (HCFST) under biaxial eccentric compression. The new type of composite member is composed of an inner CFRP tube and an outer steel tube with concrete filled in the two tubes. The finite element analysis was made by ABAQUS on the behavior of high strength concrete filled square steel tubular columns with inner CFRP circular tube subjected to bi-axial eccentric loading. The results obtained from the finite element analysis were verified with the experimental results. In addition, the load-deflection curves… More >

A User Authentication Protocol Combined with the Trust Model, Biometrics and ECC for Wireless Sensor Networks

Tao Liu, Gan Huang*, Ping Zhang

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.3, pp. 519-529, 2018, DOI:10.31209/2018.100000019

Abstract In this article, a new user authentication protocol using trust model, elliptic curve cryptography and biometrics for WSNs is submitted. The result of the trust model analysis indicates that the model can improve the model’s ability of withstanding attacks from the malicious nodes. The results of safety analysis and performance analysis for our proposed user authentication protocol demonstrate that this protocol can be flexible to all sorts of common known attacks and performs similarly or better compared with some active user authentication protocols. It is suitable for WSNs which have a prominent request for the security and the performance. More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.32, No.2, pp. 207-210, 2008, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2008.32.207

Abstract The collared peccary (Tayassu tajacu) is widely distributed over the American continent, being found from the south of the USA to the north of Argentina. In Brazil, it is spread all over the country, being one of the potential species to be raised in captivity. Therefore, the cytogenetic techniques could be a potential tool for reproductive monitoring of animals raised in captivity, mainly when destined for commercial purposes. This study had the objective of determining the chromosome number of two populations raised in captivity and characterizing them by GTG banding. For this purpose, an analysis was made of mitotic metaphases… More >

Buckling Analysis of Eccentrically Loaded Cracked Columns

    L. Nobile1, C. Carloni1

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.2, No.2, pp. 83-90, 2006, DOI:10.3970/sdhm.2006.002.083

Abstract The analysis of buckling of elastic columns is one of the first problem in structural engineering that was historically solved. Critical loads of perfect columns with various end restrains have been derived. Nevertheless, the perfect column is an idealized model. In reality, unavoidable imperfections should be considered. Solutions for transversal disturbing load, crookedness or load eccentricity have been proposed. Another frequent imperfection to be taken into account is the weakness at an interior location due to a partial edge crack. In this paper the influence of this type of imperfection on the critical load is analyzed. The case of the… More >

    Jianglin Xu, Zhi Sun

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.18, No.2, pp. 63-64, 2011, DOI:10.3970/icces.2011.018.063

Abstract The measurement of residue prestress force is one main issue for condition and performance assessment of prestressed concrete beam bridge. This paper proposes a vibration based parameter estimation technique for this purpose. Under given form external excitation, beam velocity responses at multiple points are collected firstly. The prestress force of the beam is then identified based on the minimization of the least square difference between the measured response and the baseline response. A numerical study on a beam of variant length, subjected to a constant prestress force with variant eccentricity, is conducted to show the effect of prestress force and… More >

    Y. Y. Kim1, B. Y. Lee2, J. K. Kim2

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.7, No.4, pp. 167-172, 2008, DOI:10.3970/icces.2008.007.167

Abstract The fiber dispersion performance in fiber-reinforced cementitious composites is a crucial factor with respect to achieving desired mechanical performance. However, evaluation of the fiber dispersion performance in the composite PVA-ECC (Polyvinyl alcohol-Engineered Cementitious Composite) is extremely challenging because of the low contrast of PVA fibers with the cement-based matrix. In the present work, an enhanced image processing technique including more detailed classification of types of fibers and adaptation of a morphological reconstruction, the fiber detection performance is enhanced. Test results using artificial and real fiber images showed that a distribution coefficient αf, referred to as the fiber dispersion coefficient was… More >

    Chetan Kuthe, R. V. Uddanwadiker, P. M. Padole, A. A. Ramteke§

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.12, No.1, pp. 1-16, 2015, DOI:10.3970/mcb.2015.012.001

Abstract Skeletal muscles are responsible for the relative motion of the bones at the joints and provide the required strength. They exhibit highly nonlinear mechanical behaviour and are described by nonlinear hyperelastic constitutive relations. It is distinct from other biological soft tissue. Its hyperelastic or viscoelastic behaviour is modelled by using CE, SEE, and PEE. Contractile element simulates the behaviour of skeletal muscle when it is subjected to eccentric and concentric contraction. This research aims to estimate the stress induced in skeletal muscle in eccentric and concentric contraction with respect to the predefined strain. With the use of mathematical model for… More >

    Umadevi. B, Dinesh P.A., Indira R., Vinay. C.V

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.11, No.2, pp. 101-111, 2014, DOI:10.3970/mcb.2014.011.101

Abstract The mass transfer in an eccentric annular region through diffusion by taking blood as a Newtonian fluid with the investigation of oxygen transfer and drug transport to the tissue cells in an eccentric catheterized artery is studied. The region bounded by eccentric circles in x-y plane is mapped conformally to concentric circles in \(\xi -\eta\) plane using a conformal mapping \(z = \lambda /1 - \zeta\). The resulting governing equations are analytically solved by using transformation for the concentration. Numerical computations are carried out to understand the simultaneous~effects of absorption parameter and eccentricity on the flow. ~The observation through the… More >
