    S. Balaji*, S. Karthik

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.37, No.1, pp. 727-743, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.037409

Abstract The creation of national energy strategy cannot proceed without accurate projections of future electricity consumption; this is because EC is intimately tied to other forms of energy, such as oil and natural gas. For the purpose of determining and bettering overall energy consumption, there is an urgent requirement for accurate monitoring and calculation of EC at the building level using cutting-edge technology such as data analytics and the internet of things (IoT). Soft computing is a subset of AI that tries to design procedures that are more accurate and reliable, and it has proven to be an effective tool for… More >

Ali Chitsazana , Georg Kleppa, Mohammad Esmaeil Chitsazanb, Birgit Glasmacherc

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.18, No.1, pp. 1-6, 2022, DOI:10.5098/hmt.18.17

Abstract For the optimization of the impinging round jet, the pressure force coefficient and drying energy consumption on the moving curved surface are set as the objective functions to be minimized simultaneously. SHERPA search algorithm is used to search for the optimal point from multiple objective tradeoff study (Pareto Front) method. It is found that the pressure force coefficient on the impingement surface is highly dependent on the jet to surface distance and jet angle, while the drying energy consumption is highly dependent on the jet to jet spacing. Generally, the best design study during the multi-objective optimization is found at… More >

Residential Energy Consumption Forecasting Based on Federated Reinforcement Learning with Data Privacy Protection

    You Lu1,2,#,*, Linqian Cui1,2,#,*, Yunzhe Wang1,2, Jiacheng Sun1,2, Lanhui Liu3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.137, No.1, pp. 717-732, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.027032

Abstract Most studies have conducted experiments on predicting energy consumption by integrating data for model training. However, the process of centralizing data can cause problems of data leakage. Meanwhile, many laws and regulations on data security and privacy have been enacted, making it difficult to centralize data, which can lead to a data silo problem. Thus, to train the model while maintaining user privacy, we adopt a federated learning framework. However, in all classical federated learning frameworks secure aggregation, the Federated Averaging (FedAvg) method is used to directly weight the model parameters on average, which may have an adverse effect on… More >

A Secure and Effective Energy-Aware Fixed-Point Quantization Scheme for Asynchronous Federated Learning

    Zerui Zhen1, Zihao Wu2, Lei Feng1,*, Wenjing Li1, Feng Qi1, Shixuan Guo1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.2, pp. 2939-2955, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.036505

Abstract Asynchronous federated learning (AsynFL) can effectively mitigate the impact of heterogeneity of edge nodes on joint training while satisfying participant user privacy protection and data security. However, the frequent exchange of massive data can lead to excess communication overhead between edge and central nodes regardless of whether the federated learning (FL) algorithm uses synchronous or asynchronous aggregation. Therefore, there is an urgent need for a method that can simultaneously take into account device heterogeneity and edge node energy consumption reduction. This paper proposes a novel Fixed-point Asynchronous Federated Learning (FixedAsynFL) algorithm, which could mitigate the resource consumption caused by frequent… More >

    Tzu-Chia Chen1, Ngakan Ketut Acwin Dwijendra2,*, Saurabh Singhal3, R. Sivaraman4, Amr Mamdouh5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.2, pp. 3159-3169, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.035418

Abstract A smart city incorporates infrastructure methods that are environmentally responsible, such as smart communications, smart grids, smart energy, and smart buildings. The city administration has prioritized the use of cutting-edge technology and informatics as the primary strategy for enhancing service quality, with energy resources taking precedence. To achieve optimal energy management in the multidimensional system of a city tribe, it is necessary not only to identify and study the vast majority of energy elements, but also to define their implicit interdependencies. This is because optimal energy management is required to reach this objective. The lighting index is an essential consideration… More >

An Energy-Efficient Protocol for Internet of Things Based Wireless Sensor Networks

Mohammed Mubarak Mustafa1, Ahmed Abelmonem Khalifa2,3, Korhan Cengiz4,5, Nikola Ivković6,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.2, pp. 2397-2412, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.036275

Abstract The performance of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is an important fragment of the Internet of Things (IoT), where the current WSNbuilt IoT network’s sensor hubs are enticing due to their critical resources. By grouping hubs, a clustering convention offers a useful solution for ensuring energy-saving of hubs and Hybrid Media Access Control (HMAC) during the course of the organization. Nevertheless, current grouping standards suffer from issues with the grouping structure that impacts the exhibition of these conventions negatively. In this investigation, we recommend an Improved Energy-Proficient Algorithm (IEPA) for HMAC throughout the lifetime of the WSN-based IoT. Three consecutive segments… More >

Energy-Efficient Clustering Using Optimization with Locust Game Theory

    P. Kavitha Rani1, Hee-Kwon Chae2, Yunyoung Nam2,*, Mohamed Abouhawwash3,4

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.3, pp. 2591-2605, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.033697

Abstract Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are made up of several sensors located in a specific area and powered by a finite amount of energy to gather environmental data. WSNs use sensor nodes (SNs) to collect and transmit data. However, the power supplied by the sensor network is restricted. Thus, SNs must store energy as often as to extend the lifespan of the network. In the proposed study, effective clustering and longer network lifetimes are achieved using multi-swarm optimization (MSO) and game theory based on locust search (LS-II). In this research, MSO is used to improve the optimum routing, while the LS-II… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.75, No.1, pp. 1305-1316, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.033274

Abstract Because solar energy is among the renewable energies, it has traditionally been used to provide lighting in buildings. When solar energy is effectively utilized during the day, the environment is not only more comfortable for users, but it also utilizes energy more efficiently for both heating and cooling purposes. Because of this, increasing the building’s energy efficiency requires first controlling the amount of light that enters the space. Considering that the only parts of the building that come into direct contact with the sun are the windows, it is essential to make use of louvers in order to regulate the… More >

    Nour El Houda Ben Mustaphaa1,3,*, Ibtissem Boumnijel1, M. El-Ganaoui2, Daoued Mihoubi1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.6, pp. 1339-1348, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.022888

Abstract Drying of a deformable saturated porous medium based on convective tempering is a novel method that can enhance energy efficiency and the quality of the dried product itself. In this experimental investigation, the performances of this specific technique are compared with those of a standard stationary drying process in terms of deformation, drying kinetics, moisture redistribution, and energy consumption. In particular, the response of a deformable saturated porous medium (Kaolin) is considered. The results are critically discussed pointing out advantages and drawbacks. More > Graphic Abstract
