INVESTIGATION ON THE EFFECT OF INJECTION PRESSURES ON THE SPRAY CHARACTERISTICS FOR DIETHYL ETHER AND DIESEL FUEL AT DIFFERENT CHAMBER TEMPERATURES

Vijayakumar Thulasi, R. Thundil Karuppa Raj*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.10, pp. 1-9, 2018, DOI:10.5098/hmt.10.33

Abstract Diethyl ether is one of the potential alternative fuels for the high speed compression ignition engines that can replace the existing neat diesel fuel. It is well known that the combustion characteristic of a compression ignition engine is highly influenced by the fuel spray structure formed during the injection process. In this paper the spray structure formation for the diethyl ether fuel is studied numerically, using the discrete phase model and it is compared with the neat diesel fuel. The spray is investigated in a constant volume chamber maintained at 30 bar pressure. The fuel… More >

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.13, No.5, pp. 671-677, 2018, DOI:10.1111/chd.12634

Abstract Objective: In general, a mitochondrial disorder is diagnosed on the basis of symptom combinations and confirmed by genetic findings. However, patients carrying the m.3243A>G mutation in the mitochondrial tRNA leucine 1 (MT‐TL1) do not always meet all the proposed criteria for the most frequently encountered mitochondrial syndrome “MELAS,” an acronym for Mitochondrial Encephalomyopathy, Lactic Acidosis, and at least one Stroke‐like episode. We here present various phenotypic characteristics of the mitochondrial mutation m.3243A>G with particular focus on cardiac manifestations.
Methods and Results: We followed nine patients (1 month to 68 years old; median 42 years; four female and five male) from… More >

Effect of Geometrical Parameters on Vortex Fluidic Oscillators Operating with Gases and Liquids

    T. Chekifi1,2,*, B. Dennai2, R. Khelfaoui2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.14, No.3, pp. 201-212, 2018, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2018.00322

Abstract The fluidic oscillator is an interesting device developed for passive flow measurement. These microsystems can produce a high oscillating jet frequency with high flow velocity. The main advantages of fluidic oscillators are that no moving parts is included in the device. Commercial CFD code FLUENT was used to perform analysis of flows in fluidic oscillator. Numerical simulations were carried out for different flow conditions, where water and air were used as working fluids. The oscillation frequencies were identified by the discrete fast Fourier transform method (FFT). Furthermore a low-pressure vortex of fluid flow in the More >

Abstract This communique is opted to study the approximate solution of the Algebraic Lyapunov equation on the manifold of positive-definite Hermitian matrices. We choose the geodesic distance between -AHX - XA and P as the cost function, and put forward the Extended Hamiltonian algorithm (EHA) and Natural gradient algorithm (NGA) for the solution. Finally, several numerical experiments give you an idea about the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms. We also show the comparison between these two algorithms EHA and NGA. Obtained results are provided and analyzed graphically. We also conclude that the extended Hamiltonian algorithm has More >

Abstract The epiphytic bromeliad Tillandsia makoyana was studied to assess the contribution of the environmental factors, water, temperature, and light, to the expression of the Crassulacean acid metabolism. In particular, nocturnal titratable acidity accumulation and maximum leaf temperature were measured in response to watering and incident light. Plants that were watered and exposed to direct sunlight had the highest nocturnal accumulation of titratable acidity (25.52 ± 0.34 H+/m2), while those without irrigation and shaded showed a 59% reduction in their titratable acidity. Our results illustrated a rapid response of the photosynthetic activity to water availability in Tillandsia makoyana, a More >
