    Diqi Zhu1, Xiaohong Gu2, Jie Shen1,*, Fen Li1,*

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.16, No.2, pp. 147-150, 2021, DOI:10.32604/CHD.2021.014360 - 26 January 2021

Abstract Background: Communication between the right pulmonary artery (RPA) and left atrium (LA) is a rare cause of central cyanosis in pediatric patients. Case presentation: We describe a 3-year-old female patient with an oxygen saturation of 70% at admission. The echocardiogram indicated an abnormal color flow Doppler in the LA and she underwent standard cardiac catheterization. The angiography of pulmonary artery revealed a 7.4 mm × 7.6 mm fistula between the RPA and LA and achieved successful closure using ventricular septal defect occlusion. Conclusion: The fistula between pulmonary artery and left atrium is an extremely rare but treatable More >

    Jun-Yong Jang1, Won-Seok Lee1, Jae-Hyun Ro1, Young-Hawn You2, Hyoung-Kyu Song1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.2, pp. 1729-1745, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.015424 - 05 February 2021

Abstract In this paper, a novel precoding scheme based on the Gauss-Seidel (GS) method is proposed for downlink massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. The GS method iteratively approximates the matrix inversion and reduces the overall complexity of the precoding process. In addition, the GS method shows a fast convergence rate to the Zero-forcing (ZF) method that requires an exact invertible matrix. However, to satisfy demanded error performance and converge to the error performance of the ZF method in the practical condition such as spatially correlated channels, more iterations are necessary for the GS method and increase… More >

Stress Relaxation and Sensitivity Weight for Bi-Directional Evolutionary Structural Optimization to Improve the Computational Efficiency and Stabilization on Stress-Based Topology Optimization

Chao Ma, Yunkai Gao*, Yuexing Duan, Zhe Liu

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.126, No.2, pp. 715-738, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.011187 - 21 January 2021

Abstract Stress-based topology optimization is one of the most concerns of structural optimization and receives much attention in a wide range of engineering designs. To solve the inherent issues of stress-based topology optimization, many schemes are added to the conventional bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization (BESO) method in the previous studies. However, these schemes degrade the generality of BESO and increase the computational cost. This study proposes an improved topology optimization method for the continuum structures considering stress minimization in the framework of the conventional BESO method. A global stress measure constructed by p-norm function is treated as… More >

Efficient Training of Multi-Layer Neural Networks to Achieve Faster Validation

    Adel Saad Assiri*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.36, No.3, pp. 435-450, 2021, DOI:10.32604/csse.2021.014894 - 18 January 2021

Abstract Artificial neural networks (ANNs) are one of the hottest topics in computer science and artificial intelligence due to their potential and advantages in analyzing real-world problems in various disciplines, including but not limited to physics, biology, chemistry, and engineering. However, ANNs lack several key characteristics of biological neural networks, such as sparsity, scale-freeness, and small-worldness. The concept of sparse and scale-free neural networks has been introduced to fill this gap. Network sparsity is implemented by removing weak weights between neurons during the learning process and replacing them with random weights. When the network is initialized, More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 409-424, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.015351 - 18 January 2021

Abstract Healthcare devices play an essential role in tracking and managing patient’s safety. However, the complexities of healthcare devices often remain ambiguous due to hardware, software, or the interoperable healthcare system problems. There are essentially two critical factors for targeting healthcare: First, healthcare data is the most valuable entity on the dark web; and the second, it is the easiest to hack. Data pilferage has become a major hazard for healthcare organizations as the hackers now demand ransom and threaten to disclose the sensitive data if not paid within the stipulated timeline. The present study enlists More >

Optimal Eighth-Order Solver for Nonlinear Equations with Applications in Chemical Engineering

    Obadah Said Solaiman, Ishak Hashim*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.2, pp. 379-390, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.015285 - 18 January 2021

Abstract A new iterative technique for nonlinear equations is proposed in this work. The new scheme is of three steps, of which the first two steps are based on the sixth-order modified Halley’s method presented by the authors, and the last is a Newton step, with suitable approximations for the first derivatives appeared in the new scheme. The eighth-order of convergence of the new method is proved via Mathematica code. Every iteration of the presented scheme needs the evaluation of three functions and one first derivative. Therefore, the scheme is optimal in the sense of Kung-Traub More >

Abstract Security of the Internet of Healthcare Things (IoHT) devices plays a vital role in e-healthcare today and there has been a rapid increase in the use of networked devices of IoHT in the present healthcare services. However, these networked devices are also highly vulnerable to attackers who constantly target the security of devices and their components to gain access to the patients’ data. Infringement of patients’ data is not only a violation of privacy but can also jeopardize patients’ health if the health records are tampered with. Once the device has been intruded upon, attackers… More >

Power Inverted Topp–Leone Distribution in Acceptance Sampling Plans

    Tahani A. Abushal1, Amal S. Hassan2, Ahmed R. El-Saeed3, Said G. Nassr4,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 991-1011, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014620 - 12 January 2021

Abstract We introduce a new two-parameter model related to the inverted Topp–Leone distribution called the power inverted Topp–Leone (PITL) distribution. Major properties of the PITL distribution are stated; including; quantile measures, moments, moment generating function, probability weighted moments, Bonferroni and Lorenz curve, stochastic ordering, incomplete moments, residual life function, and entropy measure. Acceptance sampling plans are developed for the PITL distribution, when the life test is truncated at a pre-specified time. The truncation time is assumed to be the median lifetime of the PITL distribution with pre-specified factors. The minimum sample size necessary to ensure the… More >

    Amer Ibrahim Al-Omari1,*, Ibrahim M. Almanjahie2,3, Olena Kravchuk4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.67, No.1, pp. 285-301, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.014537 - 12 January 2021

Abstract In this paper, we considered the Length-biased weighted Lomax distribution and constructed new acceptance sampling plans (ASPs) where the life test is assumed to be truncated at a pre-assigned time. For the new suggested ASPs, the tables of the minimum samples sizes needed to assert a specific mean life of the test units are obtained. In addition, the values of the corresponding operating characteristic function and the associated producer’s risks are calculated. Analyses of two real data sets are presented to investigate the applicability of the proposed acceptance sampling plans; one data set contains the More >
