    Doris P. Yimgang1, John D. Sorkin2, Charles F. Evans3, Danielle S. Abraham1, Geoffrey L. Rosenthal1,4

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.13, No.4, pp. 533-540, 2018, DOI:10.1111/chd.12622

Abstract Introduction: Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors are commonly prescribed medications after the Norwood procedure. There are little data that can be used to determine if angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors improve interstage outcomes in children with single ventricle defects. The objective of this study was to investigate the relationship between angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors and interstage failure among infants born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective cohort study using data from the National Pediatric Cardiology Quality Improvement Collaborative database (collected between 2008 and 2015). We used logistic regression models to assess the exposure-outcome associations and… More >

    Oncology Research, Vol.25, No.8, pp. 1223-1229, 2017, DOI:10.3727/096504017X14876245096439

Abstract Doxorubicin (DOX) is a commonly used antineoplastic agent for the treatment of various malignancies, and its use is associated with unpredictable cardiotoxicity. Susceptibility to DOX cardiotoxicity is largely patient dependent, suggesting genetic predisposition. We have previously found that individual sensitivity to DOX cardiotoxicity was associated with differential expression of genes implicated in inflammatory response and immune trafficking, which was consistent with the increasing number of reports highlighting the important role of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) complex polymorphism in hypersensitivity to drug toxicity. This pilot study aimed to investigate DNA from patients treated with DOX-based chemotherapy… More >

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.86, pp. 84-88, 2017, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2017.86.084

Abstract Seed inoculation with bacterial species has the potential to increase yield and agro-qualitative attributes of forage crops. This study determined the response of forage maize to three plant growth promoting rhizobacteria [PGPR1 (Azotobacter chroococcum), PGPR2 (Pseudomonas flourescens) and PGPR3 (Bacillus megaterium)] inoculated individually and in different combinations (PGPR1+2, PGPR1+3, PGPR2+3 and PGPR1+2+3). A non-inoculated treatment was kept as a control. We used a completely randomized block design with four replicates. The PGPR1+2+3 treatment showed an outstanding performance by improving yield attributes, green forage yield, dry matter biomass, crude protein and total ash. The same treatment gave the lowest More >

A Fuzzy Approach for an IoT-based Automated Employee Performance Appraisal

    Jaideep Kaur1, Kamaljit Kaur2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.53, No.1, pp. 23-36, 2017, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2017.053.024

Abstract The ubiquitous Internet of Things (IoT) through RFIDs, GPS, NFC and other wireless devices is capable of sensing the activities being carried around Industrial environment so as to automate industrial processes. In almost every industry, employee performance appraisal is done manually which may lead to favoritisms. This paper proposes a framework to perform automatic employee performance appraisal based on data sensed from IoT. The framework classifies raw IoT data into three activities (Positive, Negative, Neutral), co-locates employee and activity in order to calculate employee implication and then performs cognitive decision making using fuzzy logic. Oncology Research, Vol.24, No.2, pp. 117-128, 2016, DOI:10.3727/096504016X14612603423511

Abstract Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common primary malignant brain tumor that nearly always results in a bad prognosis. Temozolomide plus radiotherapy (TEM+RAD) is the most common treatment for newly diagnosed GBM. With the development of molecularly targeted drugs, several clinical trials were reported; however, the efficacy of the treatment remains controversial. So we attempted to measure the dose of the molecularly targeted drug that could improve the prognosis of those patients. The appropriate electronic databases (PubMed, MEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library) were searched for relevant studies. A meta-analysis was performed after determining which studies… More >

Abstract Bemisia tabaci (Gennaadius) biotype B is one of the most important pests due to the number of hosts and economic losses it produces. Its control is based on the application of chemicals, which has led to resistance problems. However, the host may also influence the induction of resistance to pesticides. Therefore, the present study evaluated the susceptibility of populations of B. tabaci biotype B developed indifferent hosts to three insecticides belonging to different toxicological groups. Bemisia tabaci biotype B populations were collected and reared in six different hosts (three crops and three associated weeds: Solanum lycopersicum, Solanum… More >
