    Node Placement Method by Bubble Simulation and Its Application

    Abstract In the light of the ideas and treatment technologies about molecular dynamics simulation and bubble meshing, a new approach of node placement for the meshless method called node placement method by bubble simulation (NPBS method), is proposed. Nodes are seen as the centers of the bubbles which can be moved by their interacting forces. Through dynamic simulation, bubbles are placed into a near-optimal configuration, and the centers of bubbles will form a good-quality node distribution in the domain.     Abstract In this paper a state-of-the-art numerical method is discussed for the evaluation of the shakedown and ratchet limits for an elastic-perfectly plastic body subjected to cyclic thermal and mechanical load history. The limit load or collapse load, i.e. the load carrying capacity, is also determined as a special case of shakedown analysis.     The Effective Material Properties of a Steel Plate Containing Corrosion Pits

    Abstract Corrosion pits on a steel plate can reduce the strength of the plate. However, it is difficult to calculate the corrosion effect analytically since the pits are normally distributed on the plate's surface randomly. In this manuscript, a simple approach is proposed to convert the corroded plate into a perfect one. By this method, the corrosion pits are treated as inclusions embedded in the plate.     Abstract The significance of circulating levels of TNF-α and its soluble receptors (sTNF-Rs) in the plasma of patients with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) has not been fully elucidated. The present study was to investi-gate the relationship of pretreatment plasma levels of TNF-α, sTNFR-1 and sTNFR-2 with outcome in 126 patients with EOC. Concentrations of TNF-α and sTNF-Rs were determined by enzyme-linked immunosor-bent assay (ELISA). Median TNF-α and sTNF-Rs levels were significantly higher in EOC patients than in healthy controls.     Abstract The localization of GluR1 subunits of ionotropic glutamate receptors in the glial cells and inhibitory neurons of cerebellar cortex and their association with the climbing and parallel fibers, and basket cell axons were studied. Samples of P14 and P21 rat cerebellar cortex were exposed to a specific antibody against GluR1 subunit(s) of AMPA receptors and were examined with confocal laser scanning microscopy.     Abstract This study, through a typical aerospace systems architecture, suggests an engineering design of a human cancer cell circuitry in which a digital optimal control matrix is assigned to repair the DNA damage level and/or to trigger its apoptosis.
