    Dunya Ahmed Alkurdi1,2,*, Mesut Cevik2, Abdurrahim Akgundogdu3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.81, No.3, pp. 4285-4305, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.057029 - 19 December 2024

Abstract Deepfake has emerged as an obstinate challenge in a world dominated by light. Here, the authors introduce a new deepfake detection method based on Xception architecture. The model is tested exhaustively with millions of frames and diverse video clips; accuracy levels as high as 99.65% are reported. These are the main reasons for such high efficacy: superior feature extraction capabilities and stable training mechanisms, such as early stopping, characterizing the Xception model. The methodology applied is also more advanced when it comes to data preprocessing steps, making use of state-of-the-art techniques applied to ensure constant… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.81, No.2, pp. 2077-2131, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.057136 - 18 November 2024

Abstract The pharmaceutical industry increasingly values medicinal plants due to their perceived safety and cost-effectiveness compared to modern drugs. Throughout the extensive history of medicinal plant usage, various plant parts, including flowers, leaves, and roots, have been acknowledged for their healing properties and employed in plant identification. Leaf images, however, stand out as the preferred and easily accessible source of information. Manual plant identification by plant taxonomists is intricate, time-consuming, and prone to errors, relying heavily on human perception. Artificial intelligence (AI) techniques offer a solution by automating plant recognition processes. This study thoroughly examines cutting-edge… More >

    Rabia Javed1, Tanzila Saba2, Tahani Jaser Alahmadi3,*, Sarah Al-Otaibi4, Bayan AlGhofaily2, Amjad Rehman2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.81, No.1, pp. 809-825, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.052755 - 15 October 2024

Abstract Cancer poses a significant threat due to its aggressive nature, potential for widespread metastasis, and inherent heterogeneity, which often leads to resistance to chemotherapy. Lung cancer ranks among the most prevalent forms of cancer worldwide, affecting individuals of all genders. Timely and accurate lung cancer detection is critical for improving cancer patients’ treatment outcomes and survival rates. Screening examinations for lung cancer detection, however, frequently fall short of detecting small polyps and cancers. To address these limitations, computer-aided techniques for lung cancer detection prove to be invaluable resources for both healthcare practitioners and patients alike.… More >

Automated Angle Detection for Industrial Production Lines Using Combined Image Processing Techniques

    Pawat Chunhachatrachai1,*, Chyi-Yeu Lin1,2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.39, No.4, pp. 599-618, 2024, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2024.055385 - 06 September 2024

Abstract Angle detection is a crucial aspect of industrial automation, ensuring precise alignment and orientation of components in manufacturing processes. Despite the widespread application of computer vision in industrial settings, angle detection remains an underexplored domain, with limited integration into production lines. This paper addresses the need for automated angle detection in industrial environments by presenting a methodology that eliminates training time and higher computation cost on Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) from machine learning in computer vision (e.g., Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN)). Our approach leverages advanced image processing techniques and a strategic combination of algorithms, including More >

ED-Ged: Nighttime Image Semantic Segmentation Based on Enhanced Detail and Bidirectional Guidance

Xiaoli Yuan, Jianxun Zhang*, Xuejie Wang, Zhuhong Chu

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.80, No.2, pp. 2443-2462, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2024.052285 - 15 August 2024

Abstract Semantic segmentation of driving scene images is crucial for autonomous driving. While deep learning technology has significantly improved daytime image semantic segmentation, nighttime images pose challenges due to factors like poor lighting and overexposure, making it difficult to recognize small objects. To address this, we propose an Image Adaptive Enhancement (IAEN) module comprising a parameter predictor (Edip), multiple image processing filters (Mdif), and a Detail Processing Module (DPM). Edip combines image processing filters to predict parameters like exposure and hue, optimizing image quality. We adopt a novel image encoder to enhance parameter prediction accuracy by More >
