ECO-BAT: A New Routing Protocol for Energy Consumption Optimization Based on BAT Algorithm in WSN

    Mohammed Kaddi1,*, Abdallah Banana2, Mohammed Omari1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.2, pp. 1497-1510, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.012116 - 26 November 2020

Abstract Wireless sensor network (WSN) has been widely used due to its vast range of applications. The energy problem is one of the important problems influencing the complete application. Sensor nodes use very small batteries as a power source and replacing them is not an easy task. With this restriction, the sensor nodes must conserve their energy and extend the network lifetime as long as possible. Also, these limits motivate much of the research to suggest solutions in all layers of the protocol stack to save energy. So, energy management efficiency becomes a key requirement in… More >

Utilization of Bayer Red Mud Derived from Bauxite for Belite-Ferroaluminate Cement Production

    Yanrong Zhao1,2,3,#, Ping Chen1,4,*,#, Shifeng Wang5, Yaxiong Ji3,4, Yuanhao Wang3,4,*, Bolin Wu1,2, Rongjin Liu1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.8, No.11, pp. 1531-1541, 2020, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2020.011462 - 28 September 2020

Abstract Bayer red mud (BRM) is a kind of industrial solid waste characterized by huge volume and high alkalinity. Its disposal generates serious environmental pollution and occupies a large number of farmland. The utilization and recycling of BRM is currently a crucial issue and needs to be addressed as soon as possible. The chemical composition of BRM is similar to cement clinker. In this study, the feasibility of preparing Belite-ferroaluminate clinker (BFAC) with different BRM was explored. The physical properties, mechanics performance, radioactivity levels and trace harmful metals leaching were measured. XRD, BEI and EDS were… More >

Selective Adsorption of Ag(I) from Electronic Waste Leachate Using Modified Silk Sericin

    Sijing Zhang1*, Fengjiao Ao1, Yongping Wang2, Junxue Zhao3, Yongliang Ji1, Shuangli Chen1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.6, No.1, pp. 102-116, 2018, DOI:10.7569/JRM.2017.634154

Abstract A novel biosorbent was synthesized by grafting bisthiourea (BTU) on a silk sericin (SS) matrix. This biosorbent was denoted as BTU-SS and characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), zeta potential measurements, elemental analysis, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). As revealed by the adsorption experiments, both BTU-SS and SS showed low affinity towards coexisting base metallic ions in Ag(I)-Cu(II)-Zn(II)-Ni(II)-Pb(II) electronic waste leachate mixtures, while their adsorption capacities towards Ag(I) reached 30.5 and 10.4 mg·g–1 at a pH of 5.0, respectively. BTU-SS showed higher selectivity towards Ag(I) than SS, as revealed by the Ag(I) partition coefficients More >

Evaluation of a vermicompost and leachates on Solidago x hybrida and organic carbon mineralization under aerobic incubations

    Ramírez Gerardo MG1, MA Chávez-García2, J Mejía-Carranza2

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.84, No.2, pp. 397-406, 2015, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2015.84.397

Abstract In the floriculture region of Tenancingo in the State of Mexico, the application of stabilized organic matter, such as vermicompost and leachates, contributes to improve the quality of the soil and plant nutrition. However, it is important to know the chemical composition of a vermicompost and the mineralization process. This is because the amount and speed of nutrient release which will be available to the crop will depend on that knowledge. The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of the application of a vermicompost and leachates on various quantitative variables of Solidago xMore >
