    Abstract A parallel dual reciprocity boundary element method solution to thermoelasticity and thermoviscoelasticity problems is proposed. The DR-BEM formulation is given in Fourier Transform Space where the Time Space solutions are obtained through inverse Fourier Transform. The parallellization of the code is achieved through solving each frequency at a distinct computational node. The implemented parallel code is tested on 64-core IBM blade servers and it is seen that a linear speed-up is achieved. More >

    Abstract Electrical and chemical compatibility requirements of electronic components pose significant constraints on the choice of liquid coolants. Dielectric coolants such as Novec fluids and fluoroinerts are plagued by poor thermal properties. This necessitates the development of new heat transfer fluids. In this study we examine mixture formulations that provide an avenue for enhancing the properties of existing heat transfer fluids.     Abstract Soil compaction or increase of soil bulk density (Da) as a result of applied loads is expressed as an increase in soil bulk density and soil resistance to penetration.     Abstract This paper aims to study the size-dependent elastic properties of micro- and nano-sized open-celled foams. To simplify the analysis, we use perfect regular body-centered cubic structure (i.e. BCC foam), which has cubic symmetry and only three independent elastic constants.     Abstract A specially designed suspended graphene oxide (GO) device has been fabricated and investigated in a transmission electron microscope (TEM)-scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) based setup. The detailed study of step-by-step slow reduction of an individual GO sheet under current flow and thereby Joule heating, while in-parallel performing conductivity measurements, atomic structure imaging, chemical composition, and bonding alternations tracing have been performed.     Abstract Ferroelectric nanostructures exhibit vortex structures with the shrinking of the relevant lengths to the nanometer scale because of the strong depolarization field. The vortex structure in the nanoscale ferroelectrics, similar to the vortex structure in magnetic nanostructure, is regarded as a toroidal order which is different from the common homogeneous polarization order.
