    Victor Kozlov1,*, Vladimir Saidakov1, Nikolai Kozlov2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.4, pp. 693-703, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2024.048068 - 28 March 2024

Abstract The behavior of two immiscible low-viscosity liquids differing in density and viscosity in a vertical flat layer undergoing modulated rotation is experimentally studied. The layer has a circular axisymmetric boundary. In the absence of modulation of the rotation speed, the interphase boundary has the shape of a short axisymmetric cylinder. A new effect has been discovered, under the influence of rotation speed modulation, the interface takes on a new dynamic equilibrium state. A more viscous liquid covers the end boundaries of the layer in the form of thin films, which have the shape of round… More >

    He Wang1,*, Ying He2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.4, pp. 889-899, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.042728 - 28 March 2024

Abstract Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) induction pumps are contactless pumps able to withstand harsh environments. The rate of fluid flow through the pump directly affects the efficiency and stability of the device. To explore the influence of induction pump settings on the related delivery speed, in this study, a numerical model for coupled electromagnetic and flow field effects is introduced and used to simulate liquid metal lithium flow in the induction pump. The effects of current intensity, frequency, coil turns and coil winding size on the velocity of the working fluid are analyzed. It is shown that the More >

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.22, No.1, pp. 79-105, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2024.046891 - 21 March 2024

Abstract In the current research, a thorough examination unfolds concerning the attributes of magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) boundary layer flow and heat transfer inherent to nanoliquids derived from Sisko Al2O3-Eg and TiO2-Eg compositions. Such nanoliquids are subjected to an extending surface. Consideration is duly given to slip boundary conditions, as well as the effects stemming from variable viscosity and variable thermal conductivity. The analytical approach applied involves the application of suitable similarity transformations. These conversions serve to transform the initial set of complex nonlinear partial differential equations into a more manageable assembly of ordinary differential equations. Through the utilization… More > Graphic Abstract

Siti Nur Ainsyah Ghani1, Noor Fadiya Mohd Noor1,2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.139, No.1, pp. 1017-1037, 2024, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.031372 - 30 December 2023

Abstract Variant graphene, graphene oxides (GO), and graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) dispersed in blood-based copper (Cu) nanoliquids over a leaning permeable cylinder are the focus of this study. These forms of graphene are highly beneficial in the biological and medical fields for cancer therapy, anti-infection measures, and drug delivery. The non-Newtonian Sutterby (blood-based) hybrid nanoliquid flows are generalized within the context of the Tiwari-Das model to simulate the effects of radiation and heating sources. The governing partial differential equations are reformulated into a nonlinear set of ordinary differential equations using similar transformational expressions. These equations are then… More >

    G. Dharmaiah1, F. Mebarek-Oudina2,*, K. S. Balamurugan3, N. Vedavathi4

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.2, pp. 293-310, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.030325 - 14 December 2023

Abstract The effects of a magnetic dipole on a nonlinear thermally radiative ferromagnetic liquid flowing over a stretched surface in the presence of Brownian motion and thermophoresis are investigated. By means of a similarity transformation, ordinary differential equations are derived and solved afterwards using a numerical (the BVP4C) method. The impact of various parameters, namely the velocity, temperature, concentration, is presented graphically. It is shown that the nanoparticles properties, in conjunction with the magnetic dipole effect, can increase the thermal conductivity of the engineered nanofluid and, consequently, the heat transfer. Comparison with earlier studies indicates high More > Graphic Abstract

A New Distribution Method for Wet Steam Injection Optimization

    Jingjing Gao, Xingkai Zhang*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.20, No.1, pp. 109-127, 2024, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.030106 - 08 November 2023

Abstract A new approach and a new related distribution system are proposed to address the issue of uneven steam injection caused by the different suction capacities of the used wells during the application of steam “stimulation” methods for enhanced oil recovery. The new distribution system consists of a swirler, spiral dividing baffles, and critical flow nozzles. Numerical simulations are used to analyze the flow-field and degree of steam homogeneity obtained with such an approach. The results indicate that a higher inlet pressure leads to better results. Additionally, the internal flow field becomes more stable, and the More >

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.4, pp. 1-3, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.010572

Abstract Intensive dynamic loadings are the main threats to the structural damage of protective structures and inner equipment, which has attracted a lot of attention in the field of advance impulsive resistance. Nanofluidic liquid foam (NLF) has become a novel and efficient energy absorption system due to its reusable energy absorption, ultra-high load transfer, and high energy absorption ratio. In order to solve the current problem that the energy absorption mechanism of NLF is still unclear, this paper conducted a systematic experimental study on the dynamic compression and energy absorption behaviours of NLF. A Four-Site Water Model for Liquid and Supercooled Water Based on Machine Learning: TIP4P-BGWT

    Jian Wang1,*, Yonggang Zheng1, Hongwu Zhang1, Hongfei Ye1

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.3, pp. 1-1, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.09761

Abstract Water is the most ubiquitous fluid in nature and widely exists in the micro/nanoconfinement of leafstalks, shale, bones, etc. The complex relation of the properties and behaviours of water to the temperature, pressure and confinement size enhances the difficulty in the accurate simulation, such as the supercooled state of pure water below the freezing point. As a powerful tool, molecular dynamics simulation is adequate for investigating the relevant properties and behaviours. However, accurately calculating the physical properties of liquid and supercooled water is quite challenging by molecular simulations owing to limited model parameters. Machine learning… More >
