    Tamara A. Al-Shurbaji1, Khalid A. AlKaabneh2, Issam Alhadid3,*, Ra’ed Masa’deh4

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.2, pp. 971-985, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.019654 - 22 September 2021

Abstract Scale-Invariant Feature Transform is an image matching algorithm used to match objects of two images by extracting the feature points of target objects in each image. Scale-Invariant Feature Transform suffers from long processing time due to embedded calculations which reduces the overall speed of the technique. This research aims to enhance SIFT processing time by imbedding Chamfer Distance Algorithm to find the distance between image descriptors instead of using Euclidian Distance Algorithm used in SIFT. Chamfer Distance Algorithm requires less computational time than Euclidian Distance Algorithm because it selects the shortest path between any two More >

    Ke Zhou1,2, Haitao Li1,2,*, Assima Dauletbek1,2, Dong Yang1,2, Zhenhua Xiong3, Rodolfo Lorenzo4, Kun Zhou5, Ileana Corbi6, Ottavia Corbi6

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.1, pp. 165-182, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.017223 - 27 July 2021

Abstract Eccentric compression tests on 15 chamfered laminated bamboo lumber (LBL) columns with a height ranging from 600 to 3000 mm were conducted in order to study the eccentric mechanical performance. The failure of all specimens was caused by the crack of bamboo fiber in the tensile region. When the ultimate strength was reached, except specimens with a height of 600 mm, all other specimens could bear large deformation, showing good ductility. The lateral displacements of the specimens under eccentric compression were approximately parabolic in the direction of column height. The ultimate bending moment of LBL… More >

    Ke Song1,*, Paul Liu2, Dongquan Liu3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.128, No.3, pp. 1133-1150, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.016008 - 11 August 2021

Abstract A novel beamforming algorithm named Delay Multiply and Sum (DMAS), which excels at enhancing the resolution and contrast of ultrasonic image, has recently been proposed. However, there are nested loops in this algorithm, so the calculation complexity is higher compared to the Delay and Sum (DAS) beamformer which is widely used in industry. Thus, we proposed a simple vector-based method to lower its complexity. The key point is to transform the nested loops into several vector operations, which can be efficiently implemented on many parallel platforms, such as Graphics Processing Units (GPUs), and multi-core Central… More >
