    Mustansar Mubeen1, Yasir Iftikhar1,*, Aqleem Abbas2, Mazhar Abbas3, Muhammad Zafar-ul-Hye4, Ashara Sajid1, Faheema Bakhtawar1

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.90, No.6, pp. 1573-1587, 2021, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2021.016664 - 28 June 2021

Abstract Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) belongs to the Malvaceae family and is one of the most essential and popular vegetables globally. It is rich in proteins, carbohydrates, and vitamins. Abiotic and biotic factors threaten okra productivity. Okra yellow vein mosaic disease (OYVMD) is the most destructive disease of okra. The causal agent, [(i.e., Okra yellow vein mosaic virus (OYVMV)] of this disease belongs to the family Geminiviridae and genus Begomovirus. OYVMV is a monopartite with additional ssDNA molecule. This virus has two components DNA-A for protein coding and DNA-B for symptoms induction. Whitefly transmits OYVMV in persistent manner. Characteristic… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 1021-1037, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.018248 - 04 June 2021

Abstract High electron mobility transistor (HEMT) based on gallium nitride (GaN) is one of the most promising candidates for the future generation of high frequencies and high-power electronic applications. This research work aims at designing and characterization of enhancement-mode or normally-off GaN HEMT. The impact of variations in gate length, mole concentration, barrier variations and other important design parameters on the performance of normally-off GaN HEMT is thoroughly investigated. An increase in the gate length causes a decrease in the drain current and transconductance, while an increase in drain current and transconductance can be achieved by… More >

Jehyeok Rew, Hyungjoon Kim, Eenjun Hwang*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.69, No.1, pp. 801-817, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017892 - 04 June 2021

Abstract Objective and quantitative assessment of skin conditions is essential for cosmeceutical studies and research on skin aging and skin regeneration. Various handcraft-based image processing methods have been proposed to evaluate skin conditions objectively, but they have unavoidable disadvantages when used to analyze skin features accurately. This study proposes a hybrid segmentation scheme consisting of Deeplab v3+ with an Inception-ResNet-v2 backbone, LightGBM, and morphological processing (MP) to overcome the shortcomings of handcraft-based approaches. First, we apply Deeplab v3+ with an Inception-ResNet-v2 backbone for pixel segmentation of skin wrinkles and cells. Then, LightGBM and MP are used More >

The Method of the SiC MOSFET Replacing the Si IGBT in the Traditional Power Electronics Converter without Redesigning the Main Circuit and the Driver Circuit

Lei Zhang*, Dejian Yang, Lei Ren, Yun Cheng, Qiufeng Yan, Yinlong Yuan

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.4, pp. 1155-1170, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014549 - 31 May 2021

Abstract As a wide bandgap power electronics device, the SiC MOSFET has a lot of advantages over the traditional Si IGBT. Replacing the Si IGBT with the SiC MOSFET in the existing power electronics converter is an effective means to improve the performance and promote the upgrading of the traditional converter. Generally, in order to make full use of its advantages of the SiC MOSFET, the Si IGBT in the traditional power electronics circuit cannot be simply replaced by the SiC MOSFET, but the main circuit and the driver circuit need to be redesigned because the… More >

Recycling of Mud Derived from Backwash Wastewater Coagulation as Magnetic Sodalite Sphere for Zn2+Adsorption

    Suiyi Zhu1, Manhong Ji1, Hongbin Yu1,*, Zhan Qu1, Jiakuan Yang2, Mingxin Huo1, Yi Wang1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.9, No.9, pp. 1599-1607, 2021, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2021.015189 - 23 April 2021

    Abstract

Herein, we reported a method to prepare magnetic sodalite sphere by using the mud from backwash wastewater after polyaluminum chloride (PAC) coagulation. The results showed that approximately 100% of Fe in the wastewater was precipitated as flocculent iron mud (FM) by adding PAC. FM was converted to spherical magnetic sodalite (FMP) with a diameter of 3 μm via a facile alkali hydrothermal method without adding Al/Si resources or reductant. The product FMP had the saturated magnetization of 10.9 emu g−1 and high Zn2+ adsorption capacity of 50.6 mg g−1. Without coagulation with PAC, the removal rate of

Abstract Several models of multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) have identified the optimal alternative electrical energy sources to supply certain load in an isolated region in Al-Minya City, Egypt. The load demand consists of water pumping system with a water desalination unit. Various options containing three different power sources: only DG, PV-B system, and hybrid PV-DG-B, two different sizes of reverse osmosis (RO) units; RO-250 and RO-500, two strategies of energy management; load following (LF) and cycle charging (CC), and two sizes of DG; 5 and 10 kW were taken into account. Eight attributes, including operating cost, renewable… More >

Abstract Cotton is the most widely cultivated commercial crop producing natural fiber around the world. As a critical trait for fiber quality, fiber strength principally determined during the secondary wall thickening period. Based on the developed BC5F3:5 CSSLs (chromosome segment substitution lines) from Gossypium hirsutum CCRI36 × G. barbadense Hai 1, the superior MBI9915 was chosen to construct the secondary segregated population BC7F2 with its recurrent parent CCRI36, which was subsequently subjected to Bulk segregant RNA-sequencing (BSR-seq) for rapid identification of candidate genes related to fiber strength. A total of 4 fiber-transcriptome libraries were separately constructed and sequenced, including… More >

Abstract The deadliest type of skin cancer is malignant melanoma. The diagnosis requires at the earliest to reduce the mortality rate. In this study, an efficient Skin Melanoma Classification (SMC) system is presented using dermoscopic images as a non-invasive procedure. The SMC system consists of four modules; segmentation, feature extraction, feature reduction and finally classification. In the first module, k-means clustering is applied to cluster the colour information of dermoscopic images. The second module extracts meaningful and useful descriptors based on the statistics of local property, parameters of Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroscedasticity (GARCH) model of wavelet… More >
