G-Protein-Coupled Estrogen Receptor Enhances the Stemness of Triple-Negative Breast Cancer Cells and Promotes Malignant Characteristics

    Dongliang Zhu1,*, Jun Yang2, Jiaxin Xu3

    Oncologie, Vol.24, No.3, pp. 471-482, 2022, DOI:10.32604/oncologie.2022.024062 - 19 September 2022

Abstract G-protein coupled estrogen receptor (GPER) is a transmembrane receptor that mediates non-genomic effects of estrogen. This study aimed to investigate the role of GPER in the stemness formation and malignancies in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) cells. Spheroids of MDA-MB-468 cells were induced by mammosphere culture, and the proportion of the CD44+ /CD24−/low stem cell subpopulation was detected. Malignant characteristics, expression of GPER and stemness-related markers, and tumorigenesis in a xenograft assay were compared between the mammospheres and adherent cultured cells. The impacts of 17β-estradiol (E2) and the GPER-specific antagonist G15 were studied in in vitro assays.… More >

Abstract The market power mitigation method of the supply-side has become one of the key points affecting the stability of the electricity spot market. Different mitigation mechanisms are used in the current mature electricity markets of the world. However, the same market power mitigation mechanism shows different effects in different market environments. Every market operator in the world needs the most efficient way to mitigate market power. Considering that there is no relevant literature discussing the market power effects of different mitigation methods in detail, the mitigation effects need to be discussed and further researched. Xiyang Li1, Yuhao Jia2, Hui Zhang1,*, Bin Cheng1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.6, pp. 2549-2567, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.020854 - 14 September 2022

Abstract Icing can significantly change the geometric parameters of wind turbine blades, which in turn, can reduce the aerodynamic characteristics of the airfoil. In-depth research is conducted in this study to identify the reasons for the decline of wind power equipment performance through the icing process. An accurate experimental test method is proposed in a natural environment that examines the growth and distribution of ice formation over the airfoil profile. The mathematical models of the airfoil chord length, camber, and thickness are established in order to investigate the variation of geometric airfoil parameters under different icing… More >

Outage Probability Analysis of Free Space Communication System Using Diversity Combining Techniques

    Hasnain Kashif*, Muhammad Nasir Khan

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 6001-6017, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.031291 - 28 July 2022

Abstract Recently, free space optical (FSO) communication is gaining much attention towards the research community. The reason for this attention is the promises of high data-rate, license-free deployment, and non-interfering links. It can, however, give rise to major system difficulties concerning alignment and atmospheric turbulence. FSO is the degradation in the signal quality because of atmospheric channel impairments and conditions. The worst effect is due to fog particles. Though, Radio Frequency (RF) links are able to transmit the data in foggy conditions but not in rain. To overcome these issues related to both the FSO and… More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.3, pp. 5169-5184, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.027974 - 28 July 2022

Abstract Advanced technology used for arithmetic computing application, comprises greater number of approximate multipliers and approximate adders. Truncation and Rounding-based Scalable Approximate Multiplier (TRSAM) distinguish a variety of modes based on height (h) and truncation (t) as TRSAM (h, t) in the architecture. This TRSAM operation produces higher absolute error in Least Significant Bit (LSB) data shift unit. A new scalable approximate multiplier approach that uses truncation and rounding TRSAM (3, 7) is proposed to increase the multiplier accuracy. With the help of foremost one bit architecture, the proposed scalable approximate multiplier approach reduces the partial products. The proposed… More >

    Bowen Liu1, Yunxia Zhou1, Hisham Essawy2, Shang Feng1, Xuehui Li1, Jingjing Liao1, Xiaojian Zhou1,3,*, Jun Zhang1,*, Sida Xie1

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.11, pp. 3009-3024, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.019848 - 29 June 2022

Abstract This study presents easily prepared free formaldehyde bio-based foam based on a prepared thermosetting resin comprising tannin–lignin–furfuryl alcohol-glyoxal (TLFG) via mechanical stirring in presence of ether as a foaming agent. The foam was developed through a co-polycondensation reaction of glyoxal and furfuryl alcohol with condensed tannin and lignin, which is a forest-derived product. Investigation using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed more closed-cell structure without cracks and collapse in the TLFG foam, with a higher apparent density with respect to tannin–furanic–formaldehyde (TFF) foam. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic thermomechanical analysis (DTMA), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) investigations More >

A Secure Multiparty Quantum Homomorphic Encryption Scheme

    Jing-Wen Zhang1, Xiu-Bo Chen1,*, Gang Xu2,3, Heng-Ji Li4, Ya-Lan Wang5, Li-Hua Miao6, Yi-Xian Yang1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.2, pp. 2835-2848, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.029125 - 16 June 2022

Abstract The significant advantage of the quantum homomorphic encryption scheme is to ensure the perfect security of quantum private data. In this paper, a novel secure multiparty quantum homomorphic encryption scheme is proposed, which can complete arbitrary quantum computation on the private data of multiple clients without decryption by an almost dishonest server. Firstly, each client obtains a secure encryption key through the measurement device independent quantum key distribution protocol and encrypts the private data by using the encryption operator and key. Secondly, with the help of the almost dishonest server, the non-maximally entangled states are… More >

    Yassmine Rghif1,*, Belkacem Zeghmati2, Fatima Bahraoui1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.5, pp. 1319-1329, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.021500 - 27 May 2022

Abstract This work aims to investigate numerically the influence of the buoyancy ratio and the Dufour parameter on thermosolutal convection in a square Salt Gradient Solar Pond (SGSP). The absorption of solar radiation by the saline water, the heat losses and the wind effects via the SGSP free surface are considered. The mathematical model is based on the Navier-Stokes equations used in synergy with the thermal energy equation. These equations are solved using the finite volume method and the Gauss algorithm. Velocity-pressure coupling is implemented through the SIMPLE algorithm. Simulations of the SGSP are performed for… More >
