Abstract Specific heat (Cp) and effective thermal conductivity (λ) of native maize starch (NS) were measured by DSC and transient heat transfer method, respectively, at different moisture contents and temperatures. The dependency of temperature (T) and moisture content (W) on the two parameters were investigated. The thermophysical properties of treated starch (TS) by four hydrothermal processes (RP-HMT, IV-HMT, DV-HMT and FV-HMT) were measured and compared to native strach. Hydrothermal treatments were performed at 3 bars (133°C) for 10 min. For Cp and λ measurements, moisture content varied for NS from 5 to 21.5% d.b. and from… More >

Effect of Poly(ε-caprolactone-b-tetrahydrofuran) Triblock Copolymer Concentration on Morphological, Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Immiscible PLA/PCL Blends

Paula do Patrocínio Dias, Marcelo Aparecido Chinelatto*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.7, No.2, pp. 129-138, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2019.00037

Abstract In this study a low molecular weight triblock copolymer derived from ε-caprolactone and tetrahydrofuran was used as a non-reactive compatibilizer of immiscible PLA/PCL blends. Ternary blends with 0, 1.5 wt%, 3 wt% and 5 wt% copolymer and about 75 wt% PLA were prepared by single screw extrusion and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA), tensile and Izod impact testing. SEM micrographs showed that the size of the dispersed PCL domains was practically constant regardless of copolymer concentration. This result can be explained by the low shear rate More >

    Zhangzhen Sun1, Tianhe Xu1,*, Fan Gao1, Chunhua Jiang1, Guochang Xu1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 263-280, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.04425

Abstract Abnormal effects in GPS broadcast ephemerides can have a significant effect on real-time navigation and positioning solutions that use the orbit and clock error data provided by GPS broadcast ephemerides. This paper describes three types of non-integer-hour navigation data in GPS broadcast ephemeris data. Compared with GPST integer hour data, we find that there are two types of data blocks for non-integer-hour navigation containing gross errors with different levels of precision, which is reflected in the user range accuracy (URA) of the broadcast ephemeris. These gross errors can cause large deviations when using the GPS… More >

Multi-Label Chinese Comments Categorization: Comparison of Multi-Label Learning Algorithms

    Jiahui He1, Chaozhi Wang1, Hongyu Wu1, Leiming Yan1,*, Christian Lu2

    Journal of New Media, Vol.1, No.2, pp. 51-61, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jnm.2019.06238

Abstract Multi-label text categorization refers to the problem of categorizing text through a multi-label learning algorithm. Text classification for Asian languages such as Chinese is different from work for other languages such as English which use spaces to separate words. Before classifying text, it is necessary to perform a word segmentation operation to convert a continuous language into a list of separate words and then convert it into a vector of a certain dimension. Generally, multi-label learning algorithms can be divided into two categories, problem transformation methods and adapted algorithms. This work will use customer's comments More >

    Yajie Sun1,2,*, Yanqing Yuan2, Qi Wang2, Sai Ji1,2, Lihua Wang3, Shaoen Wu4, Jie Chen2, Qin Zhang2

    Journal of Quantum Computing, Vol.1, No.1, pp. 1-8, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jqc.2019.05788

Abstract A method is proposed based on the transmissibility function and the Online Sequence Extreme Learning Machine (OS-ELM) algorithm, which is applied to the impact damage of composite materials. First of all, the transmissibility functions of the undamaged signals and the damage signals at different points are calculated. Secondly, the difference between them is taken as the damage index. Finally, principal component analysis (PCA) is used to reduce the noise feature. And then, input to the online sequence limit learning neural network classification to identify damage and confirm the damage location. Taking the amplitude of the More >
