    Abstract Modeling the geometry and behavior of human bones is of the most concern when dealing with bone remodelling (external and internal) and poroelastic analysis. Complex geometries are frequently found in the human skeleton as well as orthotropic behavior of bone tissue. Spongy bone has a completely different constitution as compared with compact bone, which adds another relevant consideration if we want to get reliable results in biomechanical analysis.     Abstract This paper reports finite element multi-scale simulations of ballistic impact damage of three-dimensional angle-interlock woven composite (3DAWC) penetrated under a hemispherical rigid projectile. A multi-scale geometrical model of the 3DAWC was established for the numerical simulation. The multi-scale geometrical model of the 3DAWC consists two parts: one is the microstructure model and another is the continuum model. The microstructure model has the same microstructure with that of the 3DAWC composite panel, including the fiber tows' diameter, fiber tow configuration and fiber volume fraction.     Abstract In this study, the efficient discrete model including the resin infusion and the fiber compaction is developed to simulate the RFI (resin film infusion) process. The non-linear governing equations are derived by the Darcy's law, the Terzaghi's law and the continuity equations.     Abstract When a droplet impacts a solid surface at high speed, the contact periphery expands very quickly and liquid compressibility plays an important role in the initial dynamics and the formation of lateral jets.     Abstract In the literature immersed boundary methods are employed to simulate complex flows around moving arbitrary bodies without the necessity of remeshing. These methods employ a regular Eulerian mesh to simulate the fluid flow and a Lagrangian representation of the boundary of the bodies. The two representations can be coupled through an immersed boundary condition constraining the fluid to exactly follow the boundary of the bodies (immersed boundaries).     Abstract CFD simulations have been made to understand the impact of the vibrations of the ISS on the thermodiffusion process. Simulations were made for two ternary hydrocarbon mixtures and one binary associated mixture.     Abstract A report is given on host plants, distribution, damage and importance of Sclerotinia minor in the southern Pampas and northern Patagonia regions (Argentina). Spontaneous infections were recorded on seven plant species. Sonchus oleraceus and Eruca vesicaria are new hosts for S. minor; Cichorium intybus and Zinnia elegans are new hosts for Argentina. This fungus causes important damage on Helianthus annuus and Lactuca sativa, and it occasionally affects C. intybus and Solanum lycopersicum.     Comparison of isozyme transformation in maize as a result of insertion of the chitinase gene

    Abstract Isozymes of peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT), esterase (EST) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) were analyzed on transgenic maize (with external chitinase gene) and its parent by vertical polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). This study was made using shoots at the fourth leaf stage. Results showed that: POD and EST were detected in 6 bands. POD-2 and POD-3 were present at the bud and seedling stages.
