    C. S. K. Rajua , N. Sandeepa, J. Prakashb,1

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.7, pp. 1-8, 2016, DOI:10.5098/hmt.7.14

Abstract In this study, we analyzed the effects of nonlinear thermal radiation and induced magnetic field on steady two-dimensional incompressible flow of Jeffrey fluid flow past a stretching/shrinking surface in the presence of homogeneous-heterogeneous reactions. For physical relevance in this study we analyzed the behavior of homogeneous and heterogeneous profiles individually. The transformed governing equations with the help of similarity variables are solved numerically via Runge-Kutta and Newton’s method. We obtained better accuracy of the present results by differentiating with the existed published literature. The effect of pertinent parameters on velocity, induced magnetic field, temperature and More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.7, pp. 1-9, 2016, DOI:10.5098/hmt.7.21

Abstract This manuscript presents a detailed numerical study on the influence of radiation absorption and chemical reaction on unsteady magneto hydrodynamic free convective heat and mass transfer flow. A heat generating Casson fluid past an oscillating vertical plate embedded in a porous medium in the presence of constant wall temperature and concentration is considered. The non-dimensional governing equations along with the corresponding boundary conditions are solved using Finite difference method numerically. Effects of various emerging flow parameters on concentration, temperature and velocity distributions are presented graphically and analyzed. Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.7, pp. 1-12, 2016, DOI:10.5098/hmt.7.24

Abstract In the present analytical study, we have considered unsteady hydromagnetic heat and mass transfer natural convection flow of an electrically conducting, heat absorbing and chemically reacting fluid past an exponentially accelerated vertical plate in a uniform porous medium taking Hall current and rotation into account. The species concentration near the plate is considered to be varies linearly with time. Two particular cases for plate temperature are considered i.e. (i) plate temperature is uniform and (ii) plate temperature varies linearly with time and after some time it is maintained at uniform temperature. EFFECT OF CHEMICAL REACTION AND RADIATION ON UNSTEADY CONVECTIVE HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER FLOW OF A VISCOUS FLUID IN A VERTICAL WAVY CHANNEL WITH OSCILLATORY FLUX AND HEAT SOURCES

P.V.S. Kamalakara,*, R. Raghavender Raoa, D.R.V. Prasada Raob

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.7, pp. 1-9, 2016, DOI:10.5098/hmt.7.2

Abstract In this paper we discuss the effect of chemical reaction and thermal radiation on unsteady free convective heat and mass transfer flow through a porous medium in a vertical wavy channel. The unsteadiness in the flow is due to the oscillatory flux in the flow region. The coupled equations governing the flow, heat and mass transfer have been solved by using a perturbation technique with the slope  of the wavy wall as the perturbation parameter. The expression for the velocity, the temperature, the concentration, the rate of heat and mass transfer are derived and More >

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.6, pp. 1-9, 2015, DOI:10.5098/hmt.6.12

Abstract The objective of this study is to investigated thermal diffusion and radiation effects on unsteady free convection chemically reacting fluid flow past an accelerated infinite inclined plate with variable temperature and mass diffusion under the influence of uniform transverse magnetic field when the magnetic lines of force are fixed relative to the fluid or to the plate studied in two cases, (i) when magnetic field fixed relative to the fluid (K=0), (ii) and the magnetic field fixed relative to the plate (K=1) have been considered. THE EFFECT OF MELTING ON MIXED CONVECTION HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN NON-NEWTONIAN NANOFLUID SATURATED IN POROUS MEDIUM

    R.R. Kairia, Ch. RamReddyb,*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.6, pp. 1-7, 2015, DOI:10.5098/hmt.6.6

Abstract In this paper, we investigated the influence of melting on mixed convection heat and mass transfer from the vertical flat plate in a non-Newtonian nanofluid saturated porous medium. The wall and the ambient medium are maintained at constant, but different, levels of temperature and concentration. The Ostwald–de Waele power-law model is used to characterize the non-Newtonian nanofluid behavior. A similarity solution for the transformed governing equations is obtained. The numerical computation is carried out for various values of the non-dimensional physical parameters. The variation of temperature, concentration, heat and mass transfer coefficients with the power-law More >

    M. Toujani1, R. Djebali2, L. Hassini1, S. Azzouz1, A. Belghith1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.98, No.5, pp. 469-485, 2014, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2014.098.469

Abstract In the present work we aim to simulate unsteady two-dimensional evolution of the moisture content, temperature and mechanical stress in a parallelepiped apple sample during convective drying. The model is based on the heat and mass transfer equations and the mechanical equilibrium equation under the assumptions of plane deformation, viscoelasticity and isotropic hydric shrinkage. The Finite Elements COMSOL Multiphysics solver is used to solve the developed model. The hydro-thermal model was validated on experimental data drawn in our laboratory for moisture and temperature internal profiles of the product. Excellent agreement has been obtained between numerical More >

    M. Si Abdallah1, B. Zeghmati2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.10, No.2, pp. 261-277, 2014, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2014.010.261

Abstract In the present work, a numerical analysis is performed of the combined effects of (opposing) thermal and solutal buoyancy in the presence of a wavy (vertical) surface. The boundary layer equations and related boundary conditions are discretized using a finite volume scheme and solved numerically using a Gauss-Seidel algorithm. The influence of the wavy geometry (in terms of related wavelength L and amplitude a) and the buoyancy ratio N on the local Nusselt and Sherwood numbers and on the skin-friction coefficient are studied in detail. Results show that when Pr < Sc, negative values of More >

Abstract In this paper we present an analytical and numerical study of Soret convection in an inclined rectangular porous layer saturated with a binary fluid and subject to uniform heat fluxes. In the problem formulation, the Darcy model is considered and the results are presented for wide ranges of RT (50 ≤ RT ≤ 1000), θ(0°≤θ≤180°) and φ(-1 ≤ φ ≤ 1) for Le = 10, where RT, θ, φ, and Le are the thermal Darcy-Rayleigh number, the cavity inclination, the separation parameter, and the Lewis number, respectively. Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.3, No.2, pp. 1-6, 2012, DOI:10.5098/hmt.v3.2.3006

Abstract Water droplet evaporation process is numerically modelled under various heat and mass transfer conditions. Regularities of heat transfer process interaction are examined. Modelling in this work was performed using the combined analytical – numerical method to investigate heat and mass transfer in the two-phase droplets-gas flow system. The influence of forced liquid circulation on the thermal state of droplets is taken into account by the effective coefficient of thermal conductivity. Calculating the rate of droplet evaporation and the intensity of convective heating, the influence of the Stefan’s hydrodynamic flow is taken into account. Balancing energy More >
