    Hong Zhang1, Lukai Song1,2,*, Guangchen Bai1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.3, pp. 1871-1897, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.021880 - 20 September 2022

    Abstract

The reliability and sensitivity analyses of stator blade regulator usually involve complex characteristics like high-nonlinearity, multi-failure regions, and small failure probability, which brings in unacceptable computing efficiency and accuracy of the current analysis methods. In this case, by fitting the implicit limit state function (LSF) with active Kriging (AK) model and reducing candidate sample pool with adaptive importance sampling (AIS), a novel AK-AIS method is proposed. Herein, the AK model and Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) are first established to identify the most probable failure region(s) (MPFRs), and the adaptive kernel density estimation (AKDE) importance sampling

    Jian-Guo Hu1,*, Shao-Yi Wu1,*, Yi Yang1, Qin-Sheng Zhu1, Xiao-Yu Li1, Shan Yang2

    Journal of Quantum Computing, Vol.4, No.1, pp. 53-61, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jqc.2022.027683 - 12 August 2022

Abstract As one of the major methods for the simulation of option pricing, Monte Carlo method assumes random fluctuations in the distribution of asset prices. Under certain uncertainties process, different evolution paths could be simulated so as to finally yield the expectation value of the asset price, which requires a lot of simulations to ensure the accuracy based on huge and expensive calculations. In order to solve the above computational problem, quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) has been established and applied in the relevant systems such as European call options. In this work, both MC and QM More >

    Dorsaf Khalifa*, Foued Mzali

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.6, pp. 1841-1852, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.022060 - 27 June 2022

Abstract The interfacial heat transfer coefficient (IHTC) is one of the main input parameters required by casting simulation software. It plays an important role in the accurate modeling of the solidification process. However, its value is not easily identifiable by means of experimental methods requiring temperature measurements during the solidification process itself. For these reasons, an optimal experiment design was performed in this study to determine the optimal position for the temperature measurement and the optimal thickness of the rectangular cast iron part. This parameter was identified using an inverse technique. In particular, two different algorithms… More >

    Xuechen Liu1, Majid Khan2, Zahid Rasheed3, Syed Masroor Anwar4,*, Muhammad Arslan5

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.131, No.2, pp. 1171-1195, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.019199 - 14 March 2022

Abstract The EWMA charts are the well-known memory-type charts used for monitoring the small-to-intermediate shifts in the process parameters (location and/or dispersion). The hybrid EWMA (HEWMA) charts are enhanced version of the EWMA charts, which effectively monitor the process parameters. This paper aims to develop two new uppersided HEWMA charts for monitoring shifts in process variance, i.e., HEWMA1 and HEWMA2 charts. The design structures of the proposed HEWMA1 and HEWMA2 charts are based on the concept of integrating the features of two EWMA charts. The HEWMA1 and HEWMA2 charts plotting statistics are developed using one EWMA… More >

Abstract COVID-19 is a novel coronavirus disease that has been declared as a global pandemic in 2019. It affects the whole world through person-to-person communication. This virus spreads by the droplets of coughs and sneezing, which are quickly falling over the surface. Therefore, anyone can get easily affected by breathing in the vicinity of the COVID-19 patient. Currently, vaccine for the disease is under clinical investigation in different pharmaceutical companies. Until now, multiple medical companies have delivered health monitoring kits. However, a wireless body area network (WBAN) is a healthcare system that consists of nano sensors… More >

Rana A. Bakoban, Maha A. Aldahlan*

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.31, No.1, pp. 129-142, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.018041 - 03 September 2021

Abstract In this article, Bayesian techniques are adopted to estimate the shape parameter of the generalized inverted exponential distribution (GIED) in the case of complete samples. Normal approximation, Lindley’s approximation, and Tierney and Kadane’s approximation are used for deriving Bayesian estimators. Different informative priors are considered, such as Jeffrey’s prior, Quasi prior, modified Jeffrey’s prior, and the extension of Jeffrey’s prior. Non-informative priors are also used, including Gamma prior, Pareto prior, and inverse Levy prior. The Bayesian estimators are derived under the quadratic loss function. Monte Carlo simulations are carried out to make a comparison among… More >

Simulating the Effect of Temperature Gradient on Grain Growth of 6061-T6 Aluminum Alloy via Monte Carlo Potts Algorithm

Qi Wu*, Jianan Li, Lianchun Long, Linao Liu

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.129, No.1, pp. 99-116, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.015669 - 24 August 2021

Abstract During heat treatment or mechanical processing, most polycrystalline materials experience grain growth, which significantly affects their mechanical properties. Microstructure simulation on a mesoscopic scale is an important way of studying grain growth. A key research focus of this type of method has long been how to efficiently and accurately simulate the grain growth caused by a non-uniform temperature field with temperature gradients. In this work, we propose an improved 3D Monte Carlo Potts (MCP) method to quantitatively study the relationship between non-uniform temperature fields and final grain morphologies. Properties of the aluminum alloy AA6061-T6 are… More >

Abstract The heavy-tailed distributions are very useful and play a major role in actuary and financial management problems. Actuaries are often searching for such distributions to provide the best fit to financial and economic data sets. In the current study, a prominent method to generate new distributions useful for modeling heavy-tailed data is considered. The proposed family is introduced using trigonometric function and can be named as the Arcsine-X family of distributions. For the purposes of the demonstration, a specific sub-model of the proposed family, called the Arcsine-Weibull distribution is considered. The maximum likelihood estimation method is… More >

    Haojie Lian1, Zhongwang Wang2,3,*, Haowen Hu3, Shengze Li4, Xuan Peng5, Leilei Chen2,3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.128, No.1, pp. 1-20, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2021.016775 - 28 June 2021

Abstract This paper presents a novel framework for stochastic analysis of linear elastic fracture problems. Monte Carlo simulation (MCs) is adopted to address the multi-dimensional uncertainties, whose computation cost is reduced by combination of Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) and the Radial Basis Function (RBF). In order to avoid re-meshing and retain the geometric exactness, isogeometric boundary element method (IGABEM) is employed for simulation, in which the Non-Uniform Rational B-splines (NURBS) are employed for representing the crack surfaces and discretizing dual boundary integral equations. The stress intensity factors (SIFs) are extracted by M integral method. The numerical examples More >

Identification of Abnormal Patterns in AR (1) Process Using CS-SVM

    Hongshuo Zhang1, Bo Zhu1,*, Kaimin Pang1, Chunmei Chen1, Yuwei Wan2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.28, No.3, pp. 797-810, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.017232 - 20 April 2021

Abstract Using machine learning method to recognize abnormal patterns covers the shortage of traditional control charts for autocorrelation processes, which violate the applicable conditions of the control chart, i.e., the independent identically distributed (IID) assumption. In this study, we propose a recognition model based on support vector machine (SVM) for the AR (1) type of autocorrelation process. For achieving a higher recognition performance, the cuckoo search algorithm (CS) is used to optimize the two hyper-parameters of SVM, namely the penalty parameter c and the radial basis kernel parameter g. By using Monte Carlo simulation methods, the data… More >
