    Iskandar Waini1,2, Anuar Ishak2,*, Ioan Pop3

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.3, pp. 3255-3269, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.017643 - 06 May 2021

Abstract This study examines the stagnation point flow over a stretching/shrinking sheet in a hybrid nanofluid with homogeneous-heterogeneous reactions. The hybrid nanofluid consists of copper (Cu) and alumina (Al2O3) nanoparticles which are added into water to form Cu-Al2O3/water hybrid nanofluid. The similarity equations are obtained using a similarity transformation. Then, the function bvp4c in MATLAB is utilised to obtain the numerical results. The dual solutions are found for limited values of the stretching/shrinking parameter. Also, the turning point arises in the shrinking region (λ < 0). Besides, the presence of hybrid nanoparticles enhances the heat transfer rate,… More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.2, pp. 285-300, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.014429 - 02 April 2021

Abstract The problem of Marangoni mixed convection in the presence of an inclined magnetic field with uniform strength in a nanofluid (formed by the dispersion of two metallic nanoparticles, i.e., Copper (Cu), and alumina (Al2O3) in water) is addressed numerically. The effects of viscous dissipation and Ohmic heating are also considered. The original set of governing partial differential equations is reduced to a set of non-linear coupled ordinary differential equations employing the similarity transformation technique. The simplified equations are numerically solved through MATLAB ‘bvp4c’ algorithm. The results are presented in terms of graphs for several parameters. It More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.2, pp. 319-332, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.012789 - 02 April 2021

Abstract The buoyancy driven flow of a second-grade nanofluid in the presence of a binary chemical reaction is analyzed in the context of a model based on the balance equations for mass, species concentration, momentum and energy. The elastic properties of the considered fluid are taken into account. The two-dimensional slip flow of such non-Newtonian fluid over a porous flat material which is stretched vertically upwards is considered. The role played by the activation energy is accounted for through an exponent form modified Arrhenius function added to the Buongiorno model for the nanofluid concentration. The effects More >

Abstract Entropy Generation Optimization (EGO) attained huge interest of scientists and researchers due to its numerous applications comprised in mechanical engineering, air conditioners, heat engines, thermal machines, heat exchange, refrigerators, heat pumps and substance mixing etc. Therefore, the study of radiative hybrid nanofluid (GO-MoS2/C2H6O2–H2O) and the conventional nanofluid (MoS2/C2H6O2–H2O) is conducted in the presence of Lorentz forces. The flow configuration is modeled between the parallel rotating plates in which the lower plate is permeable. The models which govern the flow in rotating system are solved numerically over the domain of interest and furnished the results for the… More >

Abstract Re-engineering the channel heat exchangers (CHEs) is the goal of many recent studies, due to their great importance in the scope of energy transport in various industrial and environmental fields. Changing the internal geometry of the CHEs by using extended surfaces, i.e., VGs (vortex generators), is the most common technique to enhance the efficiency of heat exchangers. This work aims to develop a new design of solar collectors to improve the overall energy efficiency. The study presents a new channel design by introducing VGs. The FVM (finite volume method) was adopted as a numerical technique… More >

Numerical Simulations of Hydromagnetic Mixed Convection Flow of Nanofluids inside a Triangular Cavity on the Basis of a Two-Component Nonhomogeneous Mathematical Model

    Khadija A. Al-Hassani1, M. S. Alam2, M. M. Rahman1,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.17, No.1, pp. 1-20, 2021, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2021.013497 - 09 February 2021

Abstract Nanofluids have enjoyed a widespread use in many technological applications due to their peculiar properties. Numerical simulations are presented about the unsteady behavior of mixed convection of Fe3O4-water, Fe3O4- kerosene, Fe3O4-ethylene glycol, and Fe3O4-engine oil nanofluids inside a lid-driven triangular cavity. In particular, a two-component non-homogeneous nanofluid model is used. The bottom wall of the enclosure is insulated, whereas the inclined wall is kept a constant (cold) temperature and various temperature laws are assumed for the vertical wall, namely: θ = 1(Case 1), θ = Y(1 – Y)(Case 2), and θ = sin(2πY)(Case 3). A tilted magnetic field of More >

Abstract In recent times, scientists and engineers have been most attracted to electrically conducted nanofluids due to their numerous applications in various fields of science and engineering. For example, they are used in cancer treatment (hyperthermia), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), drug-delivery, and magnetic refrigeration (MR). Bearing in mind the significance and importance of electrically conducted nanofluids, this article aims to study an electrically conducted water-based nanofluid containing carbon nanotubes (CNTs). CNTs are of two types, single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and multiple-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). The CNTs (SWCNTs and MWCNTs) have been dispersed in regular water as… More >

The working fluid is a nanofluid that is consisting of water as a based nanofluid and Al2O3 as nanoparticles. The porous medium is modeled using the Brinkman Forchheimer extended Darcy model. The obtained results are analyzed over wide ranges of the non-linear… More >

Abstract This study simulates natural convection flow resulting from heat partitions in an H-shaped enclosure filled with a nanofluid using an incompressible smoothed particle hydrodynamics (ISPH) method. The right area of the H-shaped enclosure is saturated with non-Darcy porous media. The center variable partitions of the H-shaped enclosure walls are kept at a high-temperature Th. The left and right walls of the H-shaped enclosure are positioned at a low temperature Tc and the other walls are adiabatic. In ISPH method, the source term in pressure Poisson equation (PPE) is modified. The influences of the controlling parameters on… More >

Both the nanofluids were prepared in three volume fractions 1%, 2% and 5%. Water was chosen as the base fluid. The performance of the heat pump was assessed by calculating the coefficient of performance… More >
