The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.27, No.4, pp. 1-3, 2023, DOI:10.32604/icces.2023.010572

Abstract Intensive dynamic loadings are the main threats to the structural damage of protective structures and inner equipment, which has attracted a lot of attention in the field of advance impulsive resistance. Nanofluidic liquid foam (NLF) has become a novel and efficient energy absorption system due to its reusable energy absorption, ultra-high load transfer, and high energy absorption ratio. In order to solve the current problem that the energy absorption mechanism of NLF is still unclear, this paper conducted a systematic experimental study on the dynamic compression and energy absorption behaviours of NLF. The quasi-static cyclic… More >

The Numerical Simulation of Nanofluid Flow in Complex Channels with Flexible Wall

Amal A. Harbood*, Hameed K. Hamzah, Hatem H. Obeid

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.21, pp. 293-315, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2023.01518 - 30 November 2023

Abstract The current work seeks to examine numerical heat transfer by using a complicated channel with a trapezoid shape hanging in the channel. This channel demonstrates two-dimensional laminar flow, forced convective flow, and incompressible flow. To explore the behavior of heat transfer in complex channels, several parameters, such as the constant Prandtl number (Pr = 6.9), volume fraction (ϕ) equal to (0.02 to 0.04), Cauchy number (Ca) equal to (10−4 to 10−8), and Reynolds number equal to (60 to 160) were utilized. At the complex channel, different elastic walls are used in different locations, with case A… More >

    Mohammed Z. Swalmeh1,*, Firas A. Alwawi2, A. A. Altawallbeh3, Wejdan Mesa’adeen4, Feras M. Al Faqih4, Ahmad M. Awajan4

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.21, pp. 505-522, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fhmt.2023.044300 - 30 November 2023

Abstract In current study, the influence of magnetic field (MHD) on heat transfer of natural convection boundary layer flow in Casson ternary hybrid nanofluid past a stretching sheet is studied using numerical simulation. The Newtonian heating boundary conditions that depend on the temperature and velocity terms are taken into this investigation. The particular dimensional governing equations, for the studied problem, are converted to the system of partial differential equations utilizing adequate similarity transformation. Consequently, the system of equations is numerically solved using well-known Kellar box numerical techniques. The obtained numerical results are in excellent approval with… More >

    Nosheen Fatima1, Nabeela Kousar1, Khalil Ur Rehman2,3,*, Wasfi Shatanawi2,4,5

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.137, No.3, pp. 2311-2330, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2023.026994 - 03 August 2023

Abstract A computational analysis of magnetized hybrid Darcy-Forchheimer nanofluid flow across a flat surface is presented in this work. For the study of heat and mass transfer aspects viscous dissipation, activation energy, Joule heating, thermal radiation, and heat generation effects are considered. The suspension of nanoparticles singlewalled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) are created by hybrid nanofluids. However, single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) produce nanofluids, with water acting as conventional fluid, respectively. Nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) that describe the ultimate flow are converted to nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) using appropriate similarity transformation.… More >

    Xi Wang1, Shan Qing1,*, Zhumei Luo1,*, Yiqin Liu1,2, Zichang Shi1, Jiachen Li1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.9, pp. 2399-2416, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2023.028024 - 16 May 2023

Abstract Propylene glycol-based MWCNT (multi-walled carbon nanotubes) nanofluids were prepared in the framework of a two-step method and by using a suitable PVP (polyvinyl pyrrolidone) dispersant. The BBD (Box-Behnken design) model was exploited to analyze 17 sets of experiments and examine the sensitivity of the absorbance to three parameters, namely the concentration of MWCNT, the SN ratio (mass ratio of carbon nanotubes to surfactants) and the sonication time. The results have revealed that, while the SN ratio and concentration of MWCNT have a strong effect on the absorbance, the influence of the sonication time is less… More >

Abstract Microalgae biomass is an ideal precursor to prepare renewable carbon materials, which has broad application. The bioaccumulation efficiency (lipids, proteins, carbohydrates) and biomass productivity of microalgae are influenced by spectroscopy during the culture process. In this study, a bilayer plate-type photobioreactor was designed to cultivate Chlorella protothecoides with spectral selectivity by nanofluids. Compared to culture without spectral selectivity, the spectral selectivity of Ag/CoSO4 nanofluids increased microalgae biomass by 5.76%, and the spectral selectivity of CoSO4 solution increased by 17.14%. In addition, the spectral selectivity of Ag/CoSO4 nanofluids was more conducive to the accumulation of nutrients (29.46% lipids, 50.66% More > Graphic Abstract

Girma Tafesse , Mitiku Daba, Vedagiri G. Naidu

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.20, pp. 1-12, 2023, DOI:10.5098/hmt.20.27

Abstract Innovative technologies necessitate extra energy, which can be captured from environmentally sustainable, renewable solar energy. Here, heat and mass transfer through stirring nanofluids in solar collectors for direct absorption of sunlight are pronounced. The similarity transformation served to turn mathematically regulated partial differential equations into sets of nonlinear higher-order ordinary differential equations. These equations have been resolved by the homotopy analysis method manipulating, BVPh2.0 package in Mathematica 12.1. Validations are justified through comparison. Afterward, stronger magnetic field interactions delay the nanofluids mobility. Temperature increases with thermal radiation and Biot numbers. Entropy formation and nanoparticle concentration More >
