Abstract This study examined the fine structures of epididymal spermatozoa on the lesser white-toothed shrew (Crocidura suaveolens), the Japanese white-toothed shrew (C. dsinezumi) and the big white-toothed shrew (C. lasiura) belonging to the subfamily Crocidurinae living in Korea.
In the spermatozoa of C. suaveolens, the head has a large acrosome, a smooth inner acrosomal membrane and a wavy, finger-like, electron-dense apical body. Abstract We report the occurrence of an epidural abscess following TRUS-guided prostate biopsies, which highlights the fact that severe complications may occur with this technique in spite of antibiotic prophylaxis. Ciprofloxacin-resistant Escherichia coli is a frequent cause of fever following TRUS-guided prostate biopsies as was the case in our patient. Early suspicion of the presence of ciprofloxacin-resistant Escherichia coli may help avoid serious complications in these patients. More >

Abstract Background: Wilms' Tumor is the most common malignant neoplasm of the urinary tract in children. Since 1969, the National Wilms' Tumor Study Group (NWTSG) has contributed to improving the clinical management and outcome of children affected by Wilms' Tumor. Abstract The Lyonet’s gland is found in Lepidoptera larvae, close to the excretory duct of the silk gland. The role played by this gland is still uncertain. This work aims to describe the ultrastructure of the Lyonet’s gland in Diatraea saccharalis larvae, offering suggestions regarding its possible function.
