Abstract The Wireless Power Transmission (WPT) technology is a significant source of operation in the field of power transmission with tremendous potential in a wide range of applications. This paper proposes a novel strategy for L2CL-LCL topology, which comprises two capacitors and one inductor in the essential and one capacitor and one inductor in the auxiliary. Using MATLAB simulation, this paper compares the traditional DSLCL system and the proposed L2CL-LCL. The various parameters of this system are simulated. In the current system, input and output power are set to 200.1 and 182.4 W. The common framework’s… More >

    Bin Zhang, Boqiang Wei*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.3, pp. 1197-1218, 2022, DOI:10.32604/ee.2022.018411 - 31 March 2022

Abstract The non-cascade permanent magnet synchronous motor control system has the advantages of simple structure and less adjustable parameters, but the non-cascade structure needs to solve the problem of over-current protection. In this paper, a current constrained control method is used to limit the starting current to a safe range. At the same time, to ensure the robustness and rapidity of the system, a super twist current constraint controller (CCSTA) is generated by combining super twist algorithm (STA) with current constraint control; Considering the diversity of internal and external disturbances, a functional disturbance observer (FDOB) is More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.3, pp. 1711-1727, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.023643 - 24 March 2022

Abstract Wind Energy Conversion Systems (WECS) are extensively used for connecting directly to grid sources. Permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based WECS is coupled to both grid and machine through converters. PMSG usually associated rectifiers with converters and voltage source converters at machine side. In this work, PMSG associated rectifiers with converters are considered for analysis of grid stability. The proposed work used Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) based optimization methods for extraction of maximum power within boundary condition in WECS operation using PMSG. This high-tech optimization has MPPT controller for pitch angle controller (PAC) combines with… More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.131, No.2, pp. 695-713, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.017842 - 14 March 2022

Abstract Cellular structures are regarded as excellent candidates for lightweight-design, load-bearing, and energy-absorbing applications. In this paper, a novel S-based TPMS hollow isotropic cellular structure is proposed with both superior load-bearing and energy-absorbing performances. The hollow cellular structure is designed with Boolean operation based on the Fischer-Koch (S) implicit triply periodic minimal surfaces (TPMS) with different level parameters. The anisotropy and effective elasticity properties of cellular structures are evaluated with the numerical homogenization method. The finite element method is further conducted to analyze the static mechanical performance of hollow cellular structure considering the size effect. The More >

    Kaihui Zhao1,2, Wenchang Liu1, Tonghuan Yin3, Ruirui Zhou4, Wangke Dai1 and Gang Huang5,*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 767-780, 2022, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.018617 - 24 January 2022

Abstract This paper presents a novel model-free sliding mode control (MFSMC) method to improve the speed response of permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) drive system. The ultra-local model (ULM) is first derived based on the input and the output of the PMSM. Then, the novel MFSMC method is presented, and the controller is designed based on ULM and MFSMC. A sliding mode observer (SMO) is constructed to estimate the unknown part of the ULM. The estimated unknown part is feedbacked to MFSMC controller to perform compensation for parameter perturbations and external disturbances. Compared with the sliding More >

    Energy Engineering, Vol.119, No.1, pp. 145-161, 2022, DOI:10.32604/EE.2022.015910 - 22 November 2021

Abstract For the past few years, wind energy is the most popular non-traditional resource among renewable energy resources and it’s significant to make full use of wind energy to realize a high level of generating power. Moreover, diverse maximum power point tracking (MPPT) methods have been designed for varying speed operation of wind energy conversion system (WECS) applications to obtain optimal power extraction. Hence, a novel and meta-heuristic technique, named enhanced atom search optimization (EASO), is designed for a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based WECS, which can be employed to track the maximum power point.… More >

Open-Circuit Faults Diagnosis in Direct-Drive PMSG Wind Turbine Converter

    Wei Zhang1,2, Qihui Ling1,2,*, Qiancheng Zhao1,2, Hushu Wu3

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.5, pp. 1515-1535, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014162 - 16 July 2021

Abstract The condition monitoring and fault diagnosis have been identified as the key to achieving higher availabilities of wind turbines. Numerous studies show that the open-circuit fault is a significant contributor to the failures of wind turbine converter. However, the multiple faults combinations and the influence of wind speed changes abruptly, grid voltage sags and noise interference have brought great challenges to fault diagnosis. Accordingly, concerning the open-circuit fault of converters in direct-driven PMSG wind turbine, a diagnostic method for multiple open-circuit faults is proposed in this paper, which is divided into two tasks: The first… More >

Robust Variable-Pitch Control Design of PMSG Via Perturbation Observer

    Yilin Hu1, Yan Xie2, Bo Li3,*, Yiqiang Jiang1, Fu Bao1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.4, pp. 911-929, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014759 - 31 May 2021

Abstract Wind turbine employs pitch angle control to maintain captured power at its rated value when the wind speed is higher than rated value. This work adopts a perturbation observer based sliding-mode control (POSMC) strategy to realize robust variable-pitch control of permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). POSMC combines system nonlinearities, parametric uncertainties, unmodelled dynamics, and time-varying external disturbances into a perturbation, which aims to estimate the perturbation via a perturbation observer without an accurate system model. Subsequently, sliding mode control (SMC) is designed to completely compensate perturbation estimation in real-time for the sake of achieving a More >
