    Feng Zhao1,2, Di Liao1,*, Xiaoqiang Chen1,2, Ying Wang1,2

    Energy Engineering, Vol.120, No.5, pp. 1133-1148, 2023, DOI:10.32604/ee.2023.025900

Abstract Aiming at the problems of multiple types of power quality composite disturbances, strong feature correlation and high recognition error rate, a method of power quality composite disturbances identification based on multi-resolution S-transform and decision tree was proposed. Firstly, according to IEEE standard, the signal models of seven single power quality disturbances and 17 combined power quality disturbances are given, and the disturbance waveform samples are generated in batches. Then, in order to improve the recognition accuracy, the adjustment factor is introduced to obtain the controllable time-frequency resolution through multi-resolution S-transform time-frequency domain analysis. On this basis, five disturbance time-frequency domain… More >

Improving Power Quality by DSTATCOM Based DQ Theory with Soft Computing Techniques

    V. Nandagopal1,*, T. S. Balaji Damodhar2, P. Vijayapriya3, A. Thamilmaran3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 1315-1329, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.032039

    Abstract

The development of non-linear loads at consumers has significantly impacted power supply systems. Since, the poor power quality has been found in the three-phase distribution system due to unbalanced loads, harmonic current, undesired voltage regulation, and extreme reactive power demand. To overcome this issue, Distributed STATicCOMpensator (DSTATCOM) is implemented. DSTATCOM is a shunt-connected Voltage Source Converter (VSC) that has been utilized in distribution networks to balance the bus voltage in terms of enhancing reactive power control and power factor. DSTATCOM can provide both rapid and continuous capacitive and inductive mode compensation. A rectified resistive and inductive load eliminates current harmonics… More >

Implementation of High-Q Embedded Band Pass Filter in Wireless Communication

    V. Satheesh Kumar1,*, S. Ramesh2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.2, pp. 2191-2200, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.021188

Abstract At 12.8 MHz center frequency, the advanced miniaturized polymer-based planar high quality factor (Q) passive elements embedded bandpass filter works in the L-band. Because most of the demands operate inside the spectrum, the wideband or high-speed operation necessary to enhance must be acquired in microwave frequency ranges. The channel has a quiet, high-performance microfilter with wideband rejection. Capacitors and inductors are used in the high quality factor (Q) passive components, and related networks are incorporated in the filter. Embedded layers are concatenated using Three-Dimensional Integrated Circuit (3D-IC) integration, parasitics are removed, and interconnection losses are negotiated using de-embedding methods. Xiaoye Shi1,*, Fei Ding1,2, Haiting Zhu1, Zhaowei Zhang1, Lei Zhang1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.74, No.3, pp. 4819-4830, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2023.018637

Abstract The simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) relay system is one of the emerging technologies. Xiaomi Corporation and Motorola Inc. recently launched indoor wireless power transfer equipment is one of the most promising applications. To tap the potential of the system, hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) is introduced into the SWIPT relay system. Firstly, the time slot structure of HARQ scheme based on full duplex two-way amplify and forward (AF) SWIPT relay is given, and its retransmission status is analyzed. Secondly, the equivalent signal-to-noise ratio and outage probability of various states are calculated by approximate simplification. Thirdly, the energy… More >

    K. Sreelakshmy1, Himanshu Gupta1, Om Prakash Verma1, Kapil Kumar2, Abdelhamied A. Ateya3, Naglaa F. Soliman4,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.45, No.3, pp. 2483-2503, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.032737

Abstract Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or drones introduced for military applications are gaining popularity in several other fields as well such as security and surveillance, due to their ability to perform repetitive and tedious tasks in hazardous environments. Their increased demand created the requirement for enabling the UAVs to traverse independently through the Three Dimensional (3D) flight environment consisting of various obstacles which have been efficiently addressed by metaheuristics in past literature. However, not a single optimization algorithms can solve all kind of optimization problem effectively. Therefore, there is dire need to integrate metaheuristic for general acceptability. To address this issue,… More >

Numerical Investigation of the Temperature and Flow Fields in a Solar Chimney Power Plant

    Roudouane Laouar1,*, Olaf Wünsch2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.19, No.4, pp. 1055-1066, 2023, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.022677

Abstract In this work, a parametric two-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis of a solar chimney power plant (a prototype located in Manzanares, Spain) is presented to illustrate the effects of the solar radiation mode in the collector on the plant performances. The simulations rely on a mathematical model that includes solar radiation within the collector; energy storage; air flow and heat transfer, and a turbine. It is based on the Navier-Stokes equation for turbulent flow formulated according to the standard k-ε model. Moreover, the Boussinesq approach is used to account for the fluid density variations. Different solar radiation modes in… More >
