    Jiancheng Zou1,*, Zhengzheng Li1, Zhijun Guo1, Don Hong2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.60, No.1, pp. 163-177, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05795

Abstract In the field of images and imaging, super-resolution (SR) reconstruction of images is a technique that converts one or more low-resolution (LR) images into a highresolution (HR) image. The classical two types of SR methods are mainly based on applying a single image or multiple images captured by a single camera. Microarray camera has the characteristics of small size, multi views, and the possibility of applying to portable devices. It has become a research hotspot in image processing. In this paper, we propose a SR reconstruction of images based on a microarray camera for sharpening and registration processing of array… More >

    P. Dabnichki1, A. Zhivkov2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.2, No.2, pp. 97-104, 2005, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2005.002.097

Abstract A novel method for geometric reconstruction of smooth pseudo-rotational objects based on elliptic functions is developed. Based on the apparatus of theta functions analytical expressions for the main geometric invariants are derived. Reconstruction of asymmetric and irregular objects is illustrated. The advantages of the proposed technique lay in the following: i) reconstruction is computationally very fast and would allow a qualitative change in the current research practices, i.e. real-time monitoring and analysis of the responses of large cell samples ii) the accuracy of the method is very high and can be flexibly varied iii) the method allows quantitative analysis as… More >

    X. Han1,2,3, G. R. Liu1,2, G. Y. Li 1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.1, No.1, pp. 39-50, 2004, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2004.001.039

Abstract An efficient hybrid numerical method is presented for investigating transient response of cross-ply laminated axisymmetric cylinders subjected to an impact load. In this hybrid numerical method, the laminated cylinder is divided into layered cylindrical elements in the thickness direction. The Hamilton principle is used to develop governing equations of the structure. The displacement response is determined by employing the Fourier transformations and the modal analysis. Numerical examples for analyzing transient waves have been provided in axisymmetric laminated cylindrical structures, both for thin cylindrical shells and thick cylinders.
A computational inverse technique is also presented for reconstructing elastic constants of… More >

    M. Morii1, N. Hu1,2, H. Fukunaga3, J.H. Li1, Y.L. Liu1, S. Atobe3, Alamusi3, J.H. Qiu4

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.26, No.1, pp. 37-66, 2011, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2011.026.037

Abstract Lamb wave tomography (LWT) is a potential and efficient technique for non-destructive tomographic reconstruction of damage images in structural components or materials. A new two-stage inverse algorithm with a small amount of scanning data for quickly reconstructing damage images in aluminum and CFRP laminated plates was proposed in this paper. Due to its high sensitivity to damages, the amplitude decrease of transmitted Lamb waves after travelling through the inspected region was employed as a key signal parameter related to the attenuation of Lamb waves in propagation routes. A through-thickness circular hole and a through-thickness elliptical hole in two aluminum plates,… More >

    Zhiguo Zhang1,*, Zhenxiao Li2, Yifei Zhang3, Zhenze Wang4, Minzhou Luo1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.117, No.2, pp. 157-167, 2018, DOI:10.31614/cmes.2018.04067

Abstract OSAHS (Obstructive Sleep Apnea Hypopnea Syndrome) is a respiratory disease mainly characterized by limited and repeated pauses of breathing in sleep. Currently, the optimal treatment is to apply CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) ventilation on the upper airway of the patient through a household respiratory machine. However, if the ventilator mask is designed improperly, it might cause the residue and repeated inhalation of CO2, which will exert an adverse impact on the therapeutic effect. Present research numerically analyzed the CO2 transportation inside a commercial ventilator mask (Mirage SoftGel, ResMed, Australia) based on the reconstructed 3D numerical model of a volunteer's… More >

Fast Generation of Smooth Implicit Surface Based on Piecewise Polynomial

    Taku Itoh1, Susumu Nakata2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.107, No.3, pp. 187-199, 2015, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2015.107.187

Abstract To speed up generating a scalar field g(x) based on a piecewise polynomial, a new method for determining field values that are indispensable to generate g(x) has been proposed. In the proposed method, an intermediate for generating g(x) does not required, i.e., the field values can directly be determined from given point data. Numerical experiments show that the computation time for determining the field values by the proposed method is about 10.4–12.7 times less than that of the conventional method. In addition, on the given points, the accuracy of g(x) obtained by using the proposed method is almost the same… More >

Inverse Scatterer Reconstruction in a Halfplane Using Surficial SH Line Sources

    C. Jeong1, L.F. Kallivokas2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.35, No.1, pp. 49-72, 2008, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2008.035.049

Abstract We discuss the inverse scattering problem of identifying the shape and location of a rigid scatterer fully buried in a homogeneous halfplane, when illuminated by surficial (line) wave sources generating SH waves. To this end, we consider the full-waveform response of the coupled host-obstacle system in the frequency domain, and employ the apparatus of partial-differential-equation-constrained optimization, augmented with total differentiation for tracking shape evolutions across inversion iterations, and specialized continuation schemes in lieu of formal regularization. We report numerical results that provide evidence of algorithmic robustness for detecting a variety of shapes, including elliptically- and kite-shaped obstacles. More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.86, No.2, pp. 71-92, 2012, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2012.086.071

Abstract In this paper, we consider a typical ill-posed inverse heat source problem, that is, we determine a space-dependent heat source term in a multi-dimensional heat equation from a pair of Cauchy data on a part of boundary. By a simple transformation, the inverse heat source problem is changed into a Cauchy problem of a homogenous heat conduction equation. We use the method of fundamental solutions (MFS) coupled with the Tikhonov regularization technique to solve the ill-conditioned linear system of equations resulted from the MFS discretization. The generalized cross-validation rule for determining the regularization parameter is used. Numerical results for four… More >

A New Homotopy Perturbation Method for Solving an Ill-Posed Problem of Multi-Source Dynamic Loads Reconstruction

    Linjun Wang1, Xu Han2, Youxiang Xie3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.82, No.3&4, pp. 179-194, 2011, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2011.082.179

Abstract In this paper, a new homotopy perturbation method (IHPM) is presented and suggested to solve an ill-posed problem of multi-source dynamic loads reconstruction. We propose a stable and reliable modification, and obtain a new regularization method, then employ it to find the exact solution for the multi-source dynamic load identification problem. Also, this present method only needs easy computations rather than successive integrations. Finally, the performances of two numerical examples are given. Comparisons are performed between the original homotopy perturbation method (HPM) and IHPM. The results verify that the present method is very simple and effective. More >
