    Abstract Since the works of Newton and Lagrange, interpolation had been a mature technique in the numerical mathematics. Among the many interpolation methods, global or piecewise, the polynomial interpolation p(x) = a0 + a1x + ... + anxn expanded by the monomials is the simplest one, which is easy to handle mathematically. For higher accuracy, one always attempts to use a higher-order polynomial as an interpolant.     Identification of dynamical systems with fractional derivative damping models using inverse sensitivity analysis

    Abstract The problem of identifying parameters of time invariant linear dynamical systems with fractional derivative damping models, based on a spatially incomplete set of measured frequency response functions and experimentally determined eigensolutions, is considered. Methods based on inverse sensitivity analysis of damped eigensolutions and frequency response functions are developed. It is shown that the eigensensitivity method requires the development of derivatives of solutions of an asymmetric generalized eigenvalue problem.     Abstract In this paper we describe and compare preconditioners for saddle-point systems obtained from meshfree discretizations, using the concepts of hierarchical (or H-)matrices. Previous work by the authors using this approach did not use H-matrix techniques throughout, as is done here.     Visualization of the ribosomal DNA (45S rDNA) of Indica rice with FISH on some phases of cell cycle and extended DNA fibers

    Abstract The ribosomal DNA (45S rDNA) behaviors during the cell cycle were analyzed on interphase nuclei, prophases, metaphases, pachytene chromosomes and extended DNA fibers in rice (Oryza,sativa ssp.indica cv.Guangluai No.4) by using high-resolution fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH). The results show that 45S rDNA is located at the ends of short arms of chromosomes 9 and 10. But the signals are much more intense on chromosome 9 than on chromosome 10 in metaphase.     Genetic stability in rice micropropagation

    Abstract An efficient clonal propagation procedure for six rice varieties cultivated in Argentina was developed by using shoot tip cultures, and the genetic stability of the micropropagated plants was verified by isozyme analysis. One week old seedlings obtained on MS medium were sectioned and subcultured on MS medium (0.75% agar) supplemented with different combination and concentrations of cytokinins (BAP and KIN) and auxins (2,4-D and NAA).     Abstract The Method of Fundamental Solutions (MFS) is a boundary-type method for the solution of certain elliptic boundary value problems. In this work, we develop an efficient matrix decomposition MFS algorithm for the solution of biharmonic problems in annular domains.
