Effects of Ultrasonic Seed Treatment on Rice Performances under the Seawater Irrigation

    Yingying Zhang1,2,3, Jinhai Liu1,2,3, Zhuosheng Yan4, Gangshun Rao5, Xiangru Tang1,2,3,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.1, pp. 121-130, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.022697 - 06 September 2022

Abstract Irrigation with desalinated seawater is an effective way to use ocean resources and save freshwater resources. However, seawater irrigation would cause yield loss of rice. In order to explore the effects of ultrasonic seed treatment on rice performances under seawater irrigation, the present study was conducted with three irrigation treatments (fresh water (SW0), ten times diluted seawater (SW1%, 0.34% salinity), and five times diluted seawater (SW2%, 0.68% salinity)) and two seed treatments (ultrasonic treated seeds (UT) and untreated seeds (CK)). Compared with SW0 + CK treatment, SW1 + CK and SW2 + CK treatments significantly… More >

Estimating Carbon Capture Potential of Fallow Weeds in Rice Cropping Systems

    Ge Chen1,2, Yuling Kang1, Fangbo Cao1, Jiana Chen1, Min Huang1,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.1, pp. 71-77, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.022313 - 06 September 2022

Abstract Weeds occurred during the fallow season can well perform the function of carbon (C) capture due to receiving little human disturbance. This study aimed to evaluate the C capture potential of fallow weeds in rice (Oryza sativa L.) cropping systems. A six-region, two-year on-farm investigation and a three-year tillage experiment were conducted to estimate C capture in fallow weeds in rice cropping systems. The on-farm investigation showed that the average mean C capture by fallow weeds across six regions and two years reached 112 g m–2. The tillage experiment indicated that no-tillage practices increased C capture by More >

Comparative Transcriptome Analysis of Salt-Stress-Responsive Genes in Rice Roots

    Rui Song1, Yan Huang2, Xin Ji3, Yunfei Wei3, Qiuyuan Liu3, Shumei Li3, Juan Liu3,*, Pengfei Dong1,*

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.92, No.1, pp. 237-250, 2023, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2022.023081 - 06 September 2022

Abstract Soil salinity greatly impairs plant growth and crop productivity. Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a salt-sensitive crop. To better understand the molecular mechanisms of salt tolerance in roots, the BGISEQ-500 sequencing platform was employed to elucidate transcriptome changes in rice roots after 0, 3, 24, and 72 h of salt stress. The results showed that root K+ content decreased and Na+ content increased rapidly after the initial stage of salt stress, but that fresh and dry weight in root did not significantly reduce. Compared to the control (no salt stress), 1,292, 453, and 486 differentially… More >

    Kamal Shah1,2, Hafsa Naz2, Thabet Abdeljawad1,3,*, Aziz Khan1, Manar A. Alqudah4

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.2, pp. 941-955, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.021483 - 31 August 2022

Abstract In this manuscript, an algorithm for the computation of numerical solutions to some variable order fractional differential equations (FDEs) subject to the boundary and initial conditions is developed. We use shifted Legendre polynomials for the required numerical algorithm to develop some operational matrices. Further, operational matrices are constructed using variable order differentiation and integration. We are finding the operational matrices of variable order differentiation and integration by omitting the discretization of data. With the help of aforesaid matrices, considered FDEs are converted to algebraic equations of Sylvester type. Finally, the algebraic equations we get are More >

Rice Bacterial Infection Detection Using Ensemble Technique on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Images

    Sathit Prasomphan*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.2, pp. 991-1007, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.025452 - 15 June 2022

Abstract Establishing a system for measuring plant health and bacterial infection is critical in agriculture. Previously, the farmers themselves, who observed them with their eyes and relied on their experience in analysis, which could have been incorrect. Plant inspection can determine which plants reflect the quantity of green light and near-infrared using infrared light, both visible and eye using a drone. The goal of this study was to create algorithms for assessing bacterial infections in rice using images from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with an ensemble classification technique. A. MADHAN KUMAR1, K. JAYAKUMAR2,*, M. SHALINI3

    Journal of Polymer Materials, Vol.39, No.3-4, pp. 269-281, 2022, DOI:10.32381/JPM.2022.39.3-4.7

Abstract Polylactic acid (PLA) is the most popular thermoplastic biopolymer providing a stiffness and strength alternative to fossil-based plastics. It is also the most promising biodegradable polymer on the market right now, thus gaining a substitute for conservative artificial polymers. Therefore, the current research focuses on synthesizing and mechanical characterization of particlereinforced PLA composites. The hot compression molding technique was used to fabricate PLA-based composites with 0, 2.5, 5, and 7.5 weight % of sawdust, rice husk, and bagasse particle reinforcements to enhance the performance of the PLA. The pellets of PLA matrix were taken with… More >

    A.-M. Bourdot

    Psycho-Oncologie, Vol.16, No.1, pp. 206-211, 2022, DOI:10.3166/pson-2022-0186

More >
