Crosslinking-mediated activation of the FcεRI: Does it need antigen for success?

    MICHAEL HUBER*, SANDRO CAPELLMANN

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.5, pp. 1125-1129, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.018513 - 06 January 2022

Abstract Mast cells (MCs), hematopoietic cells of the myeloid lineage, are well-known for their pro-inflammatory nature contributing to the development of various allergic and autoimmune diseases. One of the characteristic receptors on MCs, the high-affinity receptor for IgE (FcεRI), is activated in its IgE-bound state via binding and crosslinking by polyvalent antigen. This results in its phosphorylation by the SRC family kinase LYN, initiating differential signaling pathways, eventually triggering immunological effector functions, such as degranulation and cytokine production. Few publications have reported on FcεRI-dependent but antigen-independent MC activation by antibody-mediated crosslinking of membrane molecules (e.g., transmembrane More >

Molecular mechanisms of Tanshinone IIA in Hepatocellular carcinoma therapy via WGCNA-based network pharmacology analysis

    HAN ZHAO1, JING GUO1, QINGJIA CHI2, MENG FANG1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.5, pp. 1245-1259, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.018117 - 06 January 2022

Abstract Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a worldwide malignant tumor that caused irreversible consequences. Tanshinone IIA has been shown to play a notable role in HCC treatment. However, the potential targets and associating mechanism of Tanshinone IIA against HCC remain unknown. We first screened out 105 overlapping genes by integrating the predicted targets of Tanshinone IIA from multiple databases and the differentially expressed genes of HCC from the Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Then, we performed weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) using the RNA-seq profiles of overlapping genes and HCC-related clinical information. 23 genes related to… More >

Platelet rich plasma–complexed hydrogel glue enhances skin wound healing in a diabetic rat model

    YUNLONG ZHANG1,#, JINGWEI ZHANG2,#, YU ZHU1, BIN CAI1,*

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.5, pp. 1329-1338, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.015592 - 06 January 2022

Abstract Diabetic patients often exhibit delayed or incomplete progress in the healing of acute wounds, owing to poor blood perfusion. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has attracted much attention as a means to improve wound healing, because it contains high growth factor concentrations. However, the burst-like release of PRP growth factors results in a short half-life of these therapeutic proteins, thus greatly limiting the therapeutic effect. In this study, we prepared PRP from human umbilical cord blood and developed an in situ photocrosslinkable PRP hydrogel glue (HNPRP) by adding a photoresponsive hyaluronic acid (HA-NB) into PRP. The HNPRP hydrogel… More >

Interference-Aware Transmission Scheduling for Internet of Vehicles

    Mohammad Zubair Khan1,*, Muhammad Awais Javed2, Hamza Ghandorh1, Omar H. Alhazmi1, Khalid S. Aloufi3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.1, pp. 305-315, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.024091 - 05 January 2022

Abstract Next-generation Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) use wirelessly connected vehicles for safety and non-safety applications such as autonomous driving, cooperative awareness, route guidance and multimedia transmissions. This network known as the Internet of Vehicles (IoVs) suffers from many challenges such as collisions due to hidden terminals, and interference from simultaneously transmitting vehicles. Moreover, the packet reception ratio of transmissions between vehicles is significantly reduced at high vehicle densities and severe fading scenarios. As safety applications require periodic broadcast of safety messages from each vehicle to all other vehicles in the neighborhood, the development of an efficient… More >

    R. Manikandan1,*, G. Ranganathan2, V. Bindhu3

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.1, pp. 173-189, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.023922 - 05 January 2022

Abstract This paper presents development and analysis of different control strategies for smart automated system. The dynamic role of an electrical motor and sensor interfacing with wireless module becomes an essential element in a smart agriculture system to monitor various environmental parameters. The various key parameters such as temperature, humidity, air pressure, soil health and solar radiation are widely used to analyze the growth of plants and soil health based on different climate conditions. However, the smart development of an automatic system to measure these vital parameters provides a feasible approach and helps the farmers to… More >

Integrated Renewable Smart Grid System Using Fuzzy Based Intelligent Controller

    V. Vijayal1,*, K. Krishnamoorthi2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.1, pp. 651-667, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.023890 - 05 January 2022

Abstract In high power medium voltage applications, the utilization of 5-H Bridge Multi-Level Inverter (MLI) has grown vastly in recent years. The 5-H Bridge MLI can effectively control link voltage as well as power factor. However, the inverter imparts harmonics owing to the high switching frequency. Hence Inductance Capacitance Inductance (LCL) filter is implemented at its output to mitigate harmonics in presence of non-linear load. It’s of highly important to choose LCL parameters wisely in order to attain good filtering effect. This work investigates the application of 5-H Bridge MLI with LCL filter at the output… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.1, pp. 515-534, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.023449 - 05 January 2022

Abstract Remote sensing (RS) is a very reliable and effective way to monitor the environment and landscape changes. In today’s world topographic maps are very important in science, research, planning and management. It is quite possible to detect the changes based on RS data which is obtained at two different times. In this paper, we propose an optimal technique that handles problems like urban green space destruction and detection of crop stress assessment. Firstly, the optimal preprocessing is performed on the given RS dataset, for image enhancement using geometric correction and image registration. Secondly, we propose… More >

    Mehran Mokhtari1, Homayun Motameni1,*, Peyman Bayat2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.42, No.2, pp. 659-675, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.021729 - 04 January 2022

Abstract In this study, a new feature is added to the smart message passing interface (SMPI) approach (SMPIA) based on the prioritization method, which can completely eliminate the task starvation and lack of sufficient resources problems through prioritizing the tasks. The proposed approach is based on prioritizing the tasks and the urgency of implementation. Tasks are prioritized based on execution time, workload, the task with a more sensitive priority is executed earlier by the free source. The idea of demand-bound functions (DBFs) was extended to the SMPIA setting based on partitions and caps. For each task,… More >
