    V. Vijayal1,*, K. Krishnamoorthi2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.33, No.1, pp. 651-667, 2022, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2022.023890 - 05 January 2022

Abstract In high power medium voltage applications, the utilization of 5-H Bridge Multi-Level Inverter (MLI) has grown vastly in recent years. The 5-H Bridge MLI can effectively control link voltage as well as power factor. However, the inverter imparts harmonics owing to the high switching frequency. Hence Inductance Capacitance Inductance (LCL) filter is implemented at its output to mitigate harmonics in presence of non-linear load. It’s of highly important to choose LCL parameters wisely in order to attain good filtering effect. This work investigates the application of 5-H Bridge MLI with LCL filter at the output… More >

Abstract Remote sensing (RS) is a very reliable and effective way to monitor the environment and landscape changes. In today’s world topographic maps are very important in science, research, planning and management. It is quite possible to detect the changes based on RS data which is obtained at two different times. In this paper, we propose an optimal technique that handles problems like urban green space destruction and detection of crop stress assessment. Firstly, the optimal preprocessing is performed on the given RS dataset, for image enhancement using geometric correction and image registration. Secondly, we propose… More >

    Arun Kumar1, Sumit Chakravarty2, S. Suganya3, Mehedi Masud4,*, Sultan Aljahdali4

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.42, No.2, pp. 483-492, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.022899 - 04 January 2022

Abstract The implementation of Peak Average to Power Ratio (PAPR) reduction technologies will play an important role in the regularization of Fifth Generation (5G) radio communication. PAPR reduction in the advanced waveform will be the key part of designing a 5G network for different applications. This work introduces the simulation of an Advanced Partial Transmission Sequence (A-PTS) reduction techniques for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) and Filter Bank Multi-Carrier (FBMC) transmission schemes. In the projected A-PTS, the FBMC signals are mapped into the number of sub-blocks and Inverse Fast Fourier transform (IFFT) is performed to estimate More >

Solving the Task Starvation and Resources Problem Using Optimized SMPIA in Cloud

    Mehran Mokhtari1, Homayun Motameni1,*, Peyman Bayat2

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.42, No.2, pp. 659-675, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.021729 - 04 January 2022

Abstract In this study, a new feature is added to the smart message passing interface (SMPI) approach (SMPIA) based on the prioritization method, which can completely eliminate the task starvation and lack of sufficient resources problems through prioritizing the tasks. The proposed approach is based on prioritizing the tasks and the urgency of implementation. Tasks are prioritized based on execution time, workload, the task with a more sensitive priority is executed earlier by the free source. The idea of demand-bound functions (DBFs) was extended to the SMPIA setting based on partitions and caps. For each task,… More >

Reversible Watermarking Method with Low Distortion for the Secure Transmission of Medical Images

    Rizwan Taj1, Feng Tao1,*, Shahzada Khurram2, Ateeq Ur Rehman3, Syed Kamran Haider4, Akber Abid Gardezi5, Saima Kanwal1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.3, pp. 1309-1324, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.017650 - 30 December 2021

Abstract In telemedicine, the realization of reversible watermarking through information security is an emerging research field. However, adding watermarks hinders the distribution of pixels in the cover image because it creates distortions (which lead to an increase in the detection probability). In this article, we introduce a reversible watermarking method that can transmit medical images with minimal distortion and high security. The proposed method selects two adjacent gray pixels whose least significant bit (LSB) is different from the relevant message bit and then calculates the distortion degree. We use the LSB pairing method to embed the secret… More >

Bio-Based Trivalent Phytate: A Novel Strategy for Enhancing Fire Performance of Rigid Polyurethane Foam Composites

    Bing Zhang1, Sujie Yang1, Mengru Liu1, Panyue Wen2, Xiuyu Liu1, Gang Tang1,*, Xiangrong Xu3,4,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.10, No.5, pp. 1201-1220, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2022.018047 - 22 December 2021

Abstract Biomass phytic acid has potential flame retardant value as the main form of phosphorus in plant seeds. In this study, phytate-based flame retardants aluminum phytate (PA-Al) and iron phytate (PA-Fe) were synthesized and characterized. Subsequently, they were introduced into rigid polyurethane foam (RPUF) as flame retardants by one-step water-blown method. The results indicated that RPUF/PA-Fe30 exhibited the highest char residue of 22.1 wt%, significantly higher than 12.4 wt% of RPUF. Cone calorimetry analysis showed that the total heat release (THR) of RPUF/PA-Al30 decreased by 17.0% and total smoke release (TSR) decreased by 22.0% compared with pure RPUF, More > Graphic Abstract

CFD Analysis of Fluid-Dynamic and Heat Transfer Effects Generated by a Fixed Electricity Transmission Line Interacting with an External Wind

    Yajuan Jia1, Lisha Shang1, Jiangping Nan1, Guangping Hu2, Zhigang Fang3,4,*

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.2, pp. 329-344, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.017734 - 16 December 2021

Abstract The flow past a fixed single transmission conductor and the related heat transfer characteristics are investigated using computational fluid dynamics and a relevant turbulence model. After validating the method through comparison with relevant results in the literature, this thermofluid-dynamic problem is addressed considering different working conditions. It is shown that the resistance coefficient depends on the Reynolds number. As expected, the Nusselt number is also affected by Reynolds number. In particular, the Nusselt number under constant heat flux is always greater than that under a constant wall temperature. More >

Study on the Deformation Mechanism of a Soft Rock Tunnel

    Jianhui Yang1, Kai Shen1, Shoudong Pan2, Shuren Wang3,*, Zhengsheng Zou3

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.18, No.2, pp. 243-255, 2022, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2022.016677 - 16 December 2021

Abstract The large deformation of soft rock tunnel is one of the key problems to be overcome in the tunnel construction stage. In the present study, the deformation mechanism of a representative tunnel and some related countermeasures are investigated using field tests and engineering geological analysis. Owing to the scarce performances of methods based on other criteria such as small pipe spacing, anchor bolt length and steel frame spacing, a new support scheme is implemented and optimized. Results show that shear failure and bedding sliding are produced under high horizontal stress conditions. The low strength of More >
