    Bo Zhang1, Haowen Wang1, #, Longquan Jiang1, Shuhan Yuan2, Meizi Li1, *

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.3, pp. 1273-1288, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.07269

Abstract Deep learning models have been shown to have great advantages in answer selection tasks. The existing models, which employ encoder-decoder recurrent neural network (RNN), have been demonstrated to be effective. However, the traditional RNN-based models still suffer from limitations such as 1) high-dimensional data representation in natural language processing and 2) biased attentive weights for subsequent words in traditional time series models. In this study, a new answer selection model is proposed based on the Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory (Bi-LSTM) and attention mechanism. The proposed model is able to generate the more effective question-answer pair More >

    Kamaleldin Abodayeh1, Ali Raza2, *, Muhammad Shoaib Arif2, Muhammad Rafiq3, Mairaj Bibi4, Muhammad Mohsin5

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.3, pp. 1125-1142, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.08885

Abstract This paper aims to perform a comparison of deterministic and stochastic models. The stochastic modelling is a more realistic way to study the dynamics of gonorrhoea infection as compared to its corresponding deterministic model. Also, the deterministic solution is itself mean of the stochastic solution of the model. For numerical analysis, first, we developed some explicit stochastic methods, but unfortunately, they do not remain consistent in certain situations. Then we proposed an implicitly driven explicit method for stochastic heavy alcohol epidemic model. The proposed method is independent of the choice of parameters and behaves well More >

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.16, No.1, pp. 55-66, 2020, DOI:10.32604/fdmp.2020.07774 - 01 February 2020

Abstract The operational safety characteristics of trains exposed to a strong wind have caused great concern in recent years. In the present paper, the effect of the strong gust wind on a high-speed train is investigated. A typical gust wind model for any wind angle, named “Chinese hat gust wind model”, was first constructed, and an algorithm for computing the aerodynamic loads was elaborated accordingly. A vehicle system dynamic model was then set up in order to investigate the vehicle system dynamic characteristics. The assessment of the operational safety has been conducted by means of characteristic… More >

A Modified Three-Term Conjugate Gradient Algorithm for Large-Scale Nonsmooth Convex Optimization

    Wujie Hu1, Gonglin Yuan1, *, Hongtruong Pham2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.2, pp. 787-800, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.02993

Abstract It is well known that Newton and quasi-Newton algorithms are effective to small and medium scale smooth problems because they take full use of corresponding gradient function’s information but fail to solve nonsmooth problems. The perfect algorithm stems from concept of ‘bundle’ successfully addresses both smooth and nonsmooth complex problems, but it is regrettable that it is merely effective to small and medium optimization models since it needs to store and update relevant information of parameter’s bundle. The conjugate gradient algorithm is effective both large-scale smooth and nonsmooth optimization model since its simplicity that utilizes More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.62, No.2, pp. 679-694, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.08552

Abstract Assessing the age of an individual via bones serves as a fool proof method in true determination of individual skills. Several attempts are reported in the past for assessment of chronological age of an individual based on variety of discriminative features found in wrist radiograph images. The permutation and combination of these features realized satisfactory accuracies for a set of limited groups. In this paper, assessment of gender for individuals of chronological age between 1-17 years is performed using left hand wrist radiograph images. A fully automated approach is proposed for removal of noise persisted… More >

The Frequency Selection of SH0 Waves for Total Transmission and Its Application in the Damage Detection of Aircrafts

    Yanchao Yue1, *, Tangbing Chen1, Lingling Zhang1, Moustafa Abdelsalam1, Josephine Musanyufu1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.122, No.1, pp. 259-272, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.07218 - 01 January 2020

Abstract Based on wave interference, a methodology to realize the total transmission phenomenon of SH0 waves is proposed in this paper. After a systematical theoretical investigation, an exact frequency of a flat plate consisting of another medium with finite length, is obtained, which is furthermore exemplified by the finite element method. This frequency is the same as the classical Fabry-Perot condition and dependent on the thickness of the material. It has been revealed that an SH0 wave, with its wavelength equal to twice of the length of another medium, can totally transmit across the medium without… More >

    Shichao Ma1, 2, *, Xin Ning1, 2, *, Liang Wang3

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.122, No.1, pp. 49-59, 2020, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2020.06911 - 01 January 2020

Abstract Friction systems are a kind of typical non-linear dynamical systems in the actual engineering and often generate abundant dynamics phenomena. Because of non-smooth characteristics, it is difficult to handle these systems by conventional analysis methods directly. At the same time, random perturbation often affects friction systems and makes these systems more complicated. In this context, we investigate the steady-state stochastic responses and stochastic P-bifurcation of friction systems under random excitations in this paper. And in order to retain the non-smooth of friction system, the generalized cell mapping (GCM) method is first used to the original… More >
