    Abstract Since the works of Newton and Lagrange, interpolation had been a mature technique in the numerical mathematics. Among the many interpolation methods, global or piecewise, the polynomial interpolation p(x) = a0 + a1x + ... + anxn expanded by the monomials is the simplest one, which is easy to handle mathematically. For higher accuracy, one always attempts to use a higher-order polynomial as an interpolant.     Abstract The simplified thermal lattice Boltzmann model (STLBM) developed by Peng, Shu and Chew (2003) is used in this work to simulate low-Rayleigh-number natural convection in a heated rectangular cavity on a uniform grid. It is shown how by resorting to the double populations approach both hydrodynamic and thermal fields can be effectively simulated. Furthermore, a general benchmark is carried out to account for the effect of different parameters in relatively wide ranges. Results are compared with previous works available in the literature.     Invasive low-grade urothelial carcinoma in a bladder biopsy associated with high-stage disease and masquerading as schistosomiasis

    Abstract We present an interesting case of a 56-year-old Egyptian woman with high-grade urothelial carcinoma (HGUC) associated with schistosomiasis that appeared initially as low-grade (LGUC) disease on transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (TURBT). Areas of HGUC and tumor invasion were detected only after meticulous microscopic examination of the partial cystectomy specimen. Furthermore, there were no areas of squamous cell metaplasia identified. This case highlights one of the limitations of biopsy for determining cancer grade and stage.     Abstract Accurate epidemiological data about the incidence and mortality of bladder cancer are unavailable for most African countries. Transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) of the bladder is probably less common in rural African regions than in industrialized countries, due to lower levels of exposure to carcinogenic chemicals. In areas with endemic schistosomiasis (bilharzia) caused by parasiticschistosomes(bloodflukes),mostbladdercancer cases are comprised of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).However,withincreasedurbanization,industrialization,and cigarette smoking in many African countries, there is an increasing incidence of TCC relative to SCC of the bladder.

    Abstract Secreted arginases from Evernia prunastri and Xanthoria parietina thalli, exhibiting lectin activity, have been purified to homogeneity. Analyses of both amino acid and glycoside composition are reported. Purified proteins have been subjected to tryptic digestion and some amino acid sequences have been analyzed. An undecapeptide from Evernia arginase, which shows some degree of homology with the domain to which Mn2+ binds, a heptapeptide and an undecapeptide from Xanthoria arginase have been analyzed, and homologies with some arginases from other fungi and plants have been found.
