    S. Gnanapriya1,*, K. Rahimunnisa2

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.36, No.1, pp. 1105-1119, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.032832 - 29 September 2022

Abstract The performance of Hand Gesture Recognition (HGR) depends on the hand shape. Segmentation helps in the recognition of hand gestures for more accuracy and improves the overall performance compared to other existing deep neural networks. The crucial segmentation task is extremely complicated because of the background complexity, variation in illumination etc. The proposed modified UNET and ensemble model of Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) undergoes a two stage process and results in proper hand gesture recognition. The first stage is segmenting the regions of the hand and the second stage is gesture identification. The modified UNET More >

    Yingpeng Dai1, Junzheng Wang1, Jing Li1,*, Lingfeng Meng2, Songfeng Wang2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.134, No.1, pp. 135-156, 2023, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.021525 - 24 August 2022

Abstract It is important for the autonomous system to understand environmental information. For the autonomous system, it is desirable to have a strong generalization ability to deal with different complex environmental information, as well as have high accuracy and quick inference speed. Network ensemble architecture is a good choice to improve network performance. However, it is unsuitable for real-time applications on the autonomous system. To tackle this problem, a new neural network ensemble named partial-shared ensemble network (PSENet) is presented. PSENet changes network ensemble architecture from parallel architecture to scatter architecture and merges multiple component networks More >

Multilevel Augmentation for Identifying Thin Vessels in Diabetic Retinopathy Using UNET Model

    A. Deepak Kumar1,2,*, T. Sasipraba1

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.35, No.2, pp. 2273-2288, 2023, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2023.028996 - 19 July 2022

Abstract Diabetic Retinopathy is a disease, which happens due to abnormal growth of blood vessels that causes spots on the vision and vision loss. Various techniques are applied to identify the disease in the early stage with different methods and parameters. Machine Learning (ML) techniques are used for analyzing the images and finding out the location of the disease. The restriction of the ML is a dataset size, which is used for model evaluation. This problem has been overcome by using an augmentation method by generating larger datasets with multidimensional features. Existing models are using only More >

    Kyamelia Roy1, Sheli Sinha Chaudhuri1, Sayan Pramanik2, Soumen Banerjee2,*

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.44, No.1, pp. 647-662, 2023, DOI:10.32604/csse.2023.024997 - 01 June 2022

Abstract In recent years, computer vision finds wide applications in maritime surveillance with its sophisticated algorithms and advanced architecture. Automatic ship detection with computer vision techniques provide an efficient means to monitor as well as track ships in water bodies. Waterways being an important medium of transport require continuous monitoring for protection of national security. The remote sensing satellite images of ships in harbours and water bodies are the image data that aid the neural network models to localize ships and to facilitate early identification of possible threats at sea. This paper proposes a deep learning… More >

    S. Eliza Femi Sherley1,*, J. M. Karthikeyan1, N. Bharath Raj1, R. Prabakaran2, A. Abinaya1, S. V. V. Lakshmi3

    Journal on Artificial Intelligence, Vol.4, No.4, pp. 215-227, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jai.2022.034931 - 25 May 2023

Abstract Semantic change detection is extension of change detection task in which it is not only used to identify the changed regions but also to analyze the land area semantic (labels/categories) details before and after the timelines are analyzed. Periodical land change analysis is used for many real time applications for valuation purposes. Majority of the research works are focused on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNN) which tries to analyze changes alone. Semantic information of changes appears to be missing, there by absence of communication between the different semantic timelines and changes detected over the region happens.… More >

Deep Learning-Based 3D Instance and Semantic Segmentation: A Review

    Siddiqui Muhammad Yasir1, Hyunsik Ahn2,*

    Journal on Artificial Intelligence, Vol.4, No.2, pp. 99-114, 2022, DOI:10.32604/jai.2022.031235 - 18 July 2022

Abstract The process of segmenting point cloud data into several homogeneous areas with points in the same region having the same attributes is known as 3D segmentation. Segmentation is challenging with point cloud data due to substantial redundancy, fluctuating sample density and lack of apparent organization. The research area has a wide range of robotics applications, including intelligent vehicles, autonomous mapping and navigation. A number of researchers have introduced various methodologies and algorithms. Deep learning has been successfully used to a spectrum of 2D vision domains as a prevailing A.I. methods. However, due to the specific… More >

Abstract In order to accurately segment architectural features in high-resolution remote sensing images, a semantic segmentation method based on U-net network multi-task learning is proposed. First, a boundary distance map was generated based on the remote sensing image of the ground truth map of the building. The remote sensing image and its truth map were used as the input in the U-net network, followed by the addition of the building ground prediction layer at the end of the U-net network. Based on the ResNet network, a multi-task network with the boundary distance prediction layer was built. More >

    Syed Irtaza Haider1, Khursheed Aurangzeb2,*, Musaed Alhussein2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.73, No.1, pp. 1501-1526, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2022.025479 - 18 May 2022

Abstract The accurate segmentation of retinal vessels is a challenging task due to the presence of various pathologies as well as the low-contrast of thin vessels and non-uniform illumination. In recent years, encoder-decoder networks have achieved outstanding performance in retinal vessel segmentation at the cost of high computational complexity. To address the aforementioned challenges and to reduce the computational complexity, we propose a lightweight convolutional neural network (CNN)-based encoder-decoder deep learning model for accurate retinal vessels segmentation. The proposed deep learning model consists of encoder-decoder architecture along with bottleneck layers that consist of depth-wise squeezing, followed… More >

Abstract Early detection of the Covid-19 disease is essential due to its higher rate of infection affecting tens of millions of people, and its high number of deaths also by 7%. For that purpose, a proposed model of several stages was developed. The first stage is optimizing the images using dynamic adaptive histogram equalization, performing a semantic segmentation using DeepLabv3Plus, then augmenting the data by flipping it horizontally, rotating it, then flipping it vertically. The second stage builds a custom convolutional neural network model using several pre-trained ImageNet. Finally, the model compares the pre-trained data to More >
