A Smart Wellness Service Platform and Its Practical Implementation

    Umar Farooq1, Intae Ryoo2, Gon Khang1,*

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.66, No.1, pp. 45-57, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2020.013035

Abstract Advances in the field of medical sciences and medical technology, and present-day challenges, such as an aging population, rising medical expenses, and lifestyle-related diseases, have collectively catalyzed a research ecosystem termed “smart wellness.” This article describes the establishment of a smart wellness service platform designed to empower individuals to create a sense of balance in their lives. Step-by-step details include service model, design, and architectural considerations. As a proof of concept, implementation details of a Health Improvement and Management Systems (HIMS) Hub, a Smart Wellness Service Platform deployed in six cities in South Korea, are presented. An on-site survey conducted… More >

Design of the Sports Training Decision Support System Based on the Improved Association Rule, the Apriori Algorithm

Xinbao Wang*, Dawu Huang, Xuemin Zhao

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.4, pp. 755-763, 2020, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2020.010110

Abstract In order to improve the judgment decision ability of the sports training effect, a design method of the sports training decision support system based on the improved association rule, the Apriori algorithm is proposed, and a phase space model of the sports training decision support data association rule distribution is constructed. The association rule mining method is used to support the data mining model of sports training, and the decision judgment of the sports training effect is carried out in the mixed cloud computing environment. The fuzzy information fusion and the data structure feature reorganization method is adopted, and the… More >

The incidence of arrhythmias during exercise stress tests among children with Kawasaki disease: A single-center case series

    Varun Aggarwal1,2, Kristen Sexson-Tejtal1, Wilson Lam1, Santiago O. Valdes1, Caridad M. de la Uz1, Jeffrey J. Kim1, Christina Y. Miyake1

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.14, No.6, pp. 1032-1036, 2019, DOI:10.1111/chd.12864

Abstract Objective: Based on 2017 guidelines, participation in competitive sports with prior history of Kawasaki Disease (KD) requires those with coronary artery aneurysms (CAA) z score ≥ 5 to undergo evaluation for evidence of inducible ischemia or arrhythmias. The use of exercise stress testing (EST) to evaluate arrhythmias among KD patients has never been reported. This retrospective single-center case series study sought to describe the presence of inducible arrhythmias during EST in KD patients with or without CAA.
Methods: Single-center retrospective review of medical records of patients diagnosed with KD between 1989-2015 at Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston, Texas who underwent EST… More >

Effects of Muscle Fatigue on the Kinect Control of Free Throw in the Wheelchair Basketball Sport

    Hsiang-Wen Huang1, Ting-Wei Kuo1, Chi-Long Lee1, Yan-Ting Lin1, Yan-Ying Ju2, Chih-Hsiu Cheng1,*

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.16, Suppl.2, pp. 113-115, 2019, DOI:10.32604/mcb.2019.07509

Abstract Wheelchair basketball is mainly designed for people who are physically challenged with permanent lower body disabilities. Free throw execution is one of the basic skills and could represent the preferred shooting mechanics so as to examine the overall shooting mechanics in basketball players. It requires the body to act as a kinetic chain to summate energy from the wheelchair to the upper extremity for the coordinated movements. Researchers have shown that the kinetic chain of the wheelchair basketball athletes could be affected by the kinematic parameters such as the release velocity and shooting angle [1-3]. The goal of this study… More >
