    Impact of adjuvant chemotherapy on patients with lymph node metastasis at the time of radical cystectomy

    Abstract Introduction: Radical cystectomy (RC) remains the gold standard treatment for patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer. Unfortunately, a significant proportion of patients will have lymph node involvement at the time of RC. We set out to determine the impact of adjuvant cisplatin-based chemotherapy (AC) in a cohort of lymph node positive patients following RC.

    Abstract Introduction: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the utility of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) screening for prostate cancer after subcapsular prostatectomy.
    Materials and methods: Data from 41 consecutive patients who underwent subcapsular prostatectomy at a single institution over a 15 year period were collected retrospectively. Patients were categorized into benign and malignant groups based on a diagnosis of prostate cancer identified in the surgical specimen or during subsequent follow up.     Abstract Introduction: Level 1 evidence demonstrates the benefit of postoperative radiotherapy (PORT) for pT3 disease and positive margins. The role of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) after PORT remains to be defined from results of ongoing randomized trials. This study was undertaken to determine the factors influencing the current use of ADT after PORT amongst Canadian radiation oncologists.

    Abstract Protein assays were conducted on Tetranychus urticae Koch, as potential resistance detection tools to plaguicides. This is a phytophagous mite that feeds on a large variety of plants. Experiments were carried out using a pesticide susceptible and three field crop strains of T. urticae. Protein was measured by colorimetric assays, using Kit-II from Bio-Rad, with bovine serum albumin (BSA) as standard. Homogenates were prepared using 10, 30, 50, 100, 300, 500 and 800 mites, with 30 replicates each.     Abstract In this paper, transient crack analysis in two-dimensional, isotropic, continuously non-homo -ge -neous and linear elastic functionally graded materials is presented. A boundary-domain element method based on boundary-domain integral representations is developed. The Laplace-transform technique is utilized to eliminate the dependence on time. Laplace-transformed fundamental solutions of linear coupled thermoelasticity for isotropic, homogeneous and linear elastic solids are applied to derive boundary-domain integral equations.
