Abstract CG 10-248 (3,4-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-9-chloro-2H-naphtho[1,2b]pyran- 5,6-dione; CG-NQ), a β-lapachone analogue, modified the ultrastructure of rat hepatocytes, as demonstrated by light and electron microscopy. Abstract The defense reactions against biological (Histoplasma capsulatum and Escherichia coli) and non-biological materials (China ink and nylon thread) were tested in vivo in third instar larvae of Dermatobia hominis. The cellular defense performed by larval hemocytes was observed under electron microscopy. China ink particles were phagocytosed by granular cells 5 h after injection. E. coli cells were internalized by granular cells as early as 5 min after injection and totally cleared 180 min post-injection, when many hemocytes appeared disintegrated and others in process of recovering. Abstract We use a meshless local Petrov-Galerkin (MLPG) method to analyze three-dimensional infinitesimal elastodynamic deformations of a homogeneous rectangular plate subjected to different edge conditions. We employ a higher-order plate theory in which both transverse shear and transverse normal deformations are considered. Natural frequencies and the transient response to external loads have been computed for isotropic and orthotropic plates. Abstract This paper reports a mesh-free Indirect Radial Basis Function Network method (IRBFN) using Thin Plate Splines (TPSs) for numerical solution of Differential Equations (DEs) in rectangular and curvilinear coordinates. Abstract exploration was not performed and a period of watchful waiting with evolution control by ultrasonography was decided. Results: After a 3 month follow-up, the ultrasonography control revealed a total re-vascularization of the vessels and a reduction of the lesion size. Abstract The recent interest in the potential applications of new testosterone preparations has stimulated industry and physicians to develop indications for their use. Despite little scientific evidence to support the widespread application of testosterone in aging men, a clinical symptom complex called Partial Androgen Deficiency in the Aging Male (PAD AM) has been described. Many of these symptoms can be successfully treated without testosterone administration.
