    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.10, No.4, pp. 521-550, 2014, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2014.010.521

Abstract The fluctuating flow produced by magneto - hydrodynamic free convection past an impulsively started isothermal vertical plate is studied taking into account the effects of radiation and viscous dissipation. By using the similarity transformation, the governing equations are transformed into dimensionless form and then the system of nonlinear partial differential equations is solved by a perturbation technique. The considered uniform magnetic field acts perpendicular to the plate, which absorbs the fluid with a given suction velocity. A comparison is made in velocity and temperature profiles for two particular cases of real and imaginary time dependent More >

VISCOUS DISSIPATION EFFECTS ON THE LIMITING VALUE OF NUSSELT NUMBERS FOR A SHEAR DRIVEN FLOW BETWEEN TWO ASYMMETRICALLY HEATED PARALLEL PLATES

    Pranab Kumar Mondal*, Sanchayan Mukherjee

    Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.3, No.3, pp. 1-6, 2012, DOI:10.5098/hmt.v3.3.3004

Abstract The present paper deals with the analytical investigation for the limiting value of Nusselt number, including the effect of viscous dissipation on heat transfer for a laminar shear driven flow between two infinite parallel plates, where the bottom plate is fixed and the top plate is moving in an axial direction at a constant speed. The study concentrates on hydro-dynamically fully developed flow of a Newtonian fluid of constant properties without considering the axial conduction in the fluid. To investigate the effect of viscous dissipation on heat transfer by defining the limiting Nusselt number, plates… More >

Magnetohydrodynamic Flow and Heat Transfer of an Upper-Convected Maxwell Fluid Due to a Stretching Sheet

    R. C. Bataller1

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.7, No.2, pp. 153-174, 2011, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2011.007.153

Abstract We present a numerical study of the flow and heat transfer of an incompressible upper-convected Maxwell (UCM) fluid in the presence of an uniform transverse magnetic field over a porous stretching sheet taking into account suction at the surface as well as viscous dissipation and thermal radiation effects. Selected similarity analyses have been carried out by means of a numerical implementation. The effects on the velocity and temperature fields over the sheet of the parameters like elasticity number, suction velocity, magnetic parameter, radiation parameter, Prandtl number and Eckert number are also analyzed. Conjugate Heat Transfer of Forced Convection with Viscous Dissipation for Visco-Elastic Fluid Past a Flat Plate Fin

    Kai-Long Hsiao1, Cheng-Hsing Hsu2

The International Conference on Computational & Experimental Engineering and Sciences, Vol.9, No.1, pp. 3-22, 2009, DOI:10.3970/icces.2009.009.003

Abstract A conjugate forced convection with viscous dissipation heat transfer problem of a second-grade visco-elastic fluid past a flat plate fin has been studied. Governing equations include heat conduction equation of the fin, and continuity equation, momentum equation and energy equation of the fluid, were analyzed by a combination of a series expansion method, the similarity transformation and a second-order accurate finite-difference method. Solutions of a stagnation flow (β = 1.0) at the fin tip and a flat plate shape (wedge flow β = 0.0) on the fin surface were obtained by a generalized Falkner-Skan flow derivation.… More >
