Optimization for Variable Height Wind Farm Layout Model

    Bin Xu1,2,3,*, Jianming Zhu1, Junzhe Wen1, Shanshan Lin1, Yunkai Zhao1, Jin Qi1,2, Yu Xue4, Sichong Qin5

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.29, No.2, pp. 525-537, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.018338 - 16 June 2021

Abstract The optimization of wind farm layouts is very important for the effective utilization of wind resources. A fixed wind turbine hub height in the layout of wind farms leads to a low wind energy utilization and a higher LCOE (levelized cost of electricity). WOMH (Wind Farm Layout Optimization Model Considering Multiple Hub Heights) is proposed in this paper to tackle the above problem. This model is different from the traditional fixed hub height model, as it uses a variable height wind turbine. In WOMH, the Jensen wake and Weibull distribution are used to describe the wake effect… More >

Power Data Preprocessing Method of Mountain Wind Farm Based on POT-DBSCAN

Anfeng Zhu, Zhao Xiao, Qiancheng Zhao*

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.3, pp. 549-563, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014177 - 22 March 2021

Abstract Due to the frequent changes of wind speed and wind direction, the accuracy of wind turbine (WT) power prediction using traditional data preprocessing method is low. This paper proposes a data preprocessing method which combines POT with DBSCAN (POT-DBSCAN) to improve the prediction efficiency of wind power prediction model. Firstly, according to the data of WT in the normal operation condition, the power prediction model of WT is established based on the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Arithmetic which is combined with the BP Neural Network (PSO-BP). Secondly, the wind-power data obtained from the supervisory control More >

Probabilistic Load Flow Calculation of Power System Integrated with Wind Farm Based on Kriging Model

    Lu Li1, Yuzhen Fan2, Xinglang Su1,*, Gefei Qiu1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.118, No.3, pp. 565-580, 2021, DOI:10.32604/EE.2021.014627 - 22 March 2021

Abstract Because of the randomness and uncertainty, integration of large-scale wind farms in a power system will exert significant influences on the distribution of power flow. This paper uses polynomial normal transformation method to deal with non-normal random variable correlation, and solves probabilistic load flow based on Kriging method. This method is a kind of smallest unbiased variance estimation method which estimates unknown information via employing a point within the confidence scope of weighted linear combination. Compared with traditional approaches which need a greater number of calculation times, long simulation time, and large memory space, Kriging More >

A Storage and Transmission Joint Planning Method for Centralized Wind Power Transmission

    Xiuyu Yang1,*, Qi Guo1, Jianzhong Gui2, Renyong Chai3, Xueyuan Liu1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.68, No.1, pp. 1081-1097, 2021, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2021.016375 - 22 March 2021

Abstract Centralized delivery has become the main operation mode under the scaled development of wind power. Transmission channels are usually the guarantee of out-delivered wind power for large-scale wind base. The configuration of transmission capacity, which has the features of low utilization and poor economy, is hardly matching correctly due to the volatility and low energy density of wind. The usage of energy storage can mitigate wind power fluctuations and reduce the requirement of out-delivery transmission capacity, but facing the issue of energy storage cost recovery. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize the allocation of energy… More >

    Miaohong Su1, Haiying Dong1,2,*, Kaiqi Liu1, Weiwei Zou1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.117, No.6, pp. 439-452, 2020, DOI:10.32604/EE.2020.011805 - 16 October 2020

Abstract A subsynchronous oscillation suppression strategy based on self-adaptive auto disturbance rejection proportional integral controller is proposed for doublyfed induction generator-based wind farm integrated into grid through voltage source converter based multi-terminal direct current. In this strategy, the nonlinear PI controller is constructed by fal function to replace the traditional linear PI controller, and then the tracking differentiator is used to arrange the appropriate transition process in combination with the idea of active disturbance rejection control, and the self-adaptive auto disturbance rejection proportional integral controller is designed. By applying the controller to the inner loop of the… More >

Wind Farm-Battery Energy Storage Assessment in Grid-Connected Microgrids

    Shafiqur Rehman1, Umar T. Salman2,*, Luai M. Alhems1

    Energy Engineering, Vol.117, No.6, pp. 343-365, 2020, DOI:10.32604/EE.2020.011471 - 16 October 2020

Abstract Renewable energy has received much attention in the last few decades and more investment is being attracted across the world to boost its contribution towards the existing energy mix. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), many studies have been conducted on the potential of renewable energy sources (RES), such as wind, solar, and geothermal. Many of these studies have revealed that the Kingdom is blessed with an abundance of RES with wind energy being the best after solar. This paper presents an analysis of windfarm distributed generation (WFDG) for energy management strategy in the… More >
