    Formal Modelling of Real-Time Self-Adaptive Multi-Agent Systems

Awais Qasima, Syed Asad Raza Kazmib

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.25, No.1, pp. 49-63, 2019, DOI:10.31209/2018.100000012

Abstract The paradigm of multi-agent systems is very expressive to model distributed real-time systems. These real-time multi-agent systems by their working nature have temporal constraints as they need to operate in pervasive, dynamic and unpredictable environments. To achieve better fault-tolerance, they need to have the ability of self-adaptivity making them adaptable to the failures. Presently there is a lack of vocabulary for the formal modelling of real-time multi-agent systems with self-adaptive ability. In this research we proposed a framework named SMARTS for the formal modelling of self-adaptive real-time multi-agent systems. Our framework integrates MAPE-K interfaces, reflection More >

Use of vasoactive agents in postoperative pediatric cardiac patients: Insights from a national database

    Rohit S. Loomba1, Saul Flores2

    Congenital Heart Disease, Vol.14, No.6, pp. 1176-1184, 2019, DOI:10.1111/chd.12837

Abstract Objective: The main goal of this study is to examine the variation in vasoactive agent prescription patterns across a large cohort of patients. In addition, we sought to determine the association between the number of vasoactive agents used during admissions and characteristics of admissions utilizing varying numbers of vasoactive agents.
Methods: This was a multi-institutional, cross-sectional study of the pediatric health information system database of patients who underwent congenital heart surgery and received vasoactive agents from 2004 to 2015. The international classification of disease-9 (ICD-9) codes were used to select admissions to those only pertaining to cardiac… More >

Bio-Based Hyperbranched Toughener From Tannic Acid and Its Enhanced Solvent-Free Epoxy Resin with High Performance

    Jie Xu1,3, Jiayao Yang1, Peng Lin2, Xiaohuan Liu1,*, Jinjie Zhang1, Shenyuan Fu1,*, Yuxun Tang2,*

    Journal of Renewable Materials, Vol.7, No.12, pp. 1333-1346, 2019, DOI:10.32604/jrm.2019.07905

Abstract It is essential to design economic and efficient tougheners to prepare high-performance epoxy resin; however, this has remained a huge challenge. Herein, an eco-friendly, low-cost, and facile-fabricated bio-based hyperbranched toughener, carboxylic acid-functionalized tannic acid (CATA), was successfully prepared and applicated to the preparation of solvent-free epoxy resins. The mechanical performance, morphology, structural characterization, and thermal characterization of toughened epoxy resin system were studied. The toughened epoxy resin system with only 1.0wt% CATA reached the highest impact strength, 111% higher than the neat epoxy resin system. Notably, the tensile strength and elongation at break of toughened More >

Exploring Urban Population Forecasting and Spatial Distribution Modeling with Artificial Intelligence Technology

    Yan Zou1,2,3,*, Shaoliang Zhang1, Yanhai Min1

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.119, No.2, pp. 295-310, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2019.03873

Abstract The high precision population forecasting and spatial distribution modeling are very important for the theory and application of population sociology, city planning and Geo-Informatics. However, the two problems need to be solved for providing the high precision population information. One is how to improve the population forecasting precision of small area (e.g., street scale); another is how to improve the spatial resolution of urban population distribution model. To solve the two problems, some new methods are proposed in this contribution. (1) To improve the precision of small area population forecasting, a new method is developed… More >

Output Consensus of Heterogeneous Multi-agent Systems under Directed Topologies via Dynamic Feedback

Xiaofeng Liu, Siqi An, Dongxu Zhang

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.4, pp. 771-775, 2018, DOI:10.1080/10798587.2017.1337667

Abstract This paper discusses the problem of dynamic output consensus for heterogeneous multi-agent systems (MAS) with fixed topologies. All the agents possess unique linear dynamics, and only the output information of each agent is delivered throughout the communication digraphs. A series of conditions and protocols are set for reaching the consensus. With the proper feedback controllers, the output consensus of the overall system is guaranteed. An application illustrates the theorems. More >

Application of Multi Agent Systems in Automation of Distributed Energy Management in Micro-grid using MACSimJX

Leo Rajua, R. S. Miltonb, Senthilkumaran Mahadevana

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.3, pp. 483-491, 2018, DOI:10.1080/10798587.2017.1305647

Abstract The objective of this paper is to monitor and control a micro-grid model developed in MATLABSimulink through Multi Agent System (MAS) for autonomous and distributed energy management. Since MATLAB/Simulink is not compatible with parallel operations of MAS, MAS operating in Java Agent Development Environment (JADE) is linked with MATLAB/Simulink through Multi Agent Control using Simulink with Jade extension (MACSimJX). This allows the micro-grid system designed with Simulink to be controlled by MAS for realizing the advantages of MAS in distributed and decentralized microgrid systems. JADE agents receive environmental information through Simulink and they coordinate to More >

Hui Wang, Liang Li, Long-yun Gao, Wu Chen

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.1, pp. 35-40, 2018, DOI:10.1080/10798587.2016.1267238

Abstract With the development of big data science, handling intensive knowledge in the complex network becomes more and more important. Knowledge representation of multi-agent negotiation in the complex network plays an important role in big data science. As a modern approach to declarative programming, answer set programming is widely applied in representing the multi-agent negotiation knowledge in recent years. But almost all the relevant negotiation models are based on complete rational agents, which make the negotiation process complex and low efficient. Sorting negotiation demands is the most key step in creating an efficient negotiation model to More >
