    Genomic cloning and characterization of a PPA gene encoding a mannose-binding lectin from Pinellia pedatisecta

    Abstract A gene encoding a mannose-binding lectin, Pinellia pedatisecta agglutinin (PPA), was isolated from leaves of Pinellia pedatisecta using genomic walker technology. The ppa contained an 1140-bp 5’-upstream region, a 771-bp open reading frame (ORF) and an 829-bp 3’-downstream region. The ORF encoded a precursor polypeptide of 256 amino acid residues with a 24-amino acid signal peptide. There were one putative TATA box and six possible CAAT boxes lying in the 5’-upstream region of ppa.     Abstract Aluminium-Silicon alloys are in high de-mand as an engineering material for automotive,aerospace and other engineering applications. Mechanical properties of Al-Si alloys depend not only on chemical composition but also more importantly on microstructural features such as dendritic alpha-aluminiumphase and eutectic silicon particles.     Abstract The convective instabilities in semiconduc-tor or oxide melts, significantly affect the quality oflarge crystals grown from the melts by the Czochralskimethod.     Abstract Materials' internal spacetime may bear certain similarities with the external spacetime of special relativity theory. Previously, it is shown that material hardening and anisotropy may cause the internal spacetime curved. In this paper we announce the third mechanism of mixed-control to cause the curvedness of internal spacetime. To tackle the mixed-control problem for a Prager kinematic hardening material, we demonstrate two new formulations.     Abstract Data on air-water co-current two-phase annular flow in a tube with an inner diameter of 9.525 mm (3/8 in) were previously collected at both microgravity u-g and normal gravity (1-g) conditions. The data contained measurements of pressure drop, in addition to previously published data of liquid film thickness.     Abstract There are less than 100 cases of retroperitoneal schwannoma reported in the world literature. These are differentiated from gastrointestinal schwannomas found in the gastrointestinal tract.
