    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.132, No.3, pp. 991-1010, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020638 - 27 June 2022

Abstract The static aeroelastic effect of aircraft ailerons with high aspect ratio at transonic velocity is investigated in this paper by the CFD/CSD fluid-structure coupling numerical simulation. The influences of wing static aeroelasticity and the ‘scissor opening’ gap width between aileron control surface and the main wing surface on aileron efficiency are mainly explored. The main purpose of this paper is to provide technical support for the wind tunnel experimental model of aileron static aeroelasticity. The results indicate that the flight dynamic pressure has a great influence on the static aeroelastic effect of ailerons, and the… More >

Abstract Robustness of the electronic cryptographic devices against fault injection attacks is a great concern to ensure security. Due to significant resource constraints, these devices are limited in their capabilities. The increasing complexity of cryptographic devices necessitates the development of a fast simulation environment capable of performing security tests against fault injection attacks. SystemC is a good choice for Electronic System Level (ESL) modeling since it enables models to run at a faster rate. To enable fault injection and detection inside a SystemC cryptographic model, however, the model’s source code must be updated. Without altering the… More >

Abstract In this paper, some effort is provided to optimize the geometry of a concrete hollow brick (used in the construction of building roofs) in order to increase the related thermal resistance, thereby reducing energy consumption. The analysis is conducted for three different configurations of the hollow concrete bricks. Coupling of conduction, natural convection and thermal radiation phenomena is considered. Moreover, the flows are assumed to be laminar and two-dimensional for the whole range of parameters examined. The conservation equations are solved by a finite difference method based on the control volumes approach and the SIMPLE More >

Abstract Oral Cancer (OC) is one of the most recurrent cancers in the head and neck squamous cancer (SCCHN) category. Recently, the genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have gained growing interest in the scientific community. GWAS have identified several pathways involved in the interactions among general risk factors and genomic variants affecting SCCHN. This systematic overview aims to critically evaluate the latest data reported within the scientific literature. The aim was to investigate the impact of genetic aspects on SCCHN onset and prognosis, involving other clinical and systemic co-factors. A Model for Cross-Domain Opinion Target Extraction in Sentiment Analysis

    Muhammet Yasin PAK*, Serkan GUNAL

    Computer Systems Science and Engineering, Vol.42, No.3, pp. 1215-1239, 2022, DOI:10.32604/csse.2022.023051 - 08 February 2022

Abstract Opinion target extraction is one of the core tasks in sentiment analysis on text data. In recent years, dependency parser–based approaches have been commonly studied for opinion target extraction. However, dependency parsers are limited by language and grammatical constraints. Therefore, in this work, a sequential pattern-based rule mining model, which does not have such constraints, is proposed for cross-domain opinion target extraction from product reviews in unknown domains. Thus, knowing the domain of reviews while extracting opinion targets becomes no longer a requirement. The proposed model also reveals the difference between the concepts of opinion… More >

Numerical Aspects of Isogeometric Boundary Element Methods: (Nearly) Singular Quadrature, Trimmed NURBS and Surface Crack Modeling

    Xuan Peng1,*, Haojie Lian2,*

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.130, No.1, pp. 513-542, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.017410 - 29 November 2021

Abstract This work presents some numerical aspects of isogeometric boundary element methods (IGABEM). The behavior of hyper-singular and nearly-singular integration is first explored on the distorted NURBS surface. Several numerical treatments are proposed to enhance the quadrature in the framework of isogeometric analysis. Then a numerical implementation of IGABEM on the trimmed NURBS is detailed. Based on this idea, the surface crack problem is modeled incorporation with the phantom element method. The proposed method allows the crack to intersect with the boundary of the body while preserving the original parametrization of the NURBS-based CAD geometry. More >

Abstract In aircraft wings, aileron mass parameter presents a tremendous effect on the velocity and frequency of the flutter problem. For that purpose, we present the optimization of a composite design wing with an aileron, using machine-learning approach. Mass properties and its distribution have a great influence on the multi-variate optimization procedure, based on speed and frequency of flutter. First, flutter speed was obtained to estimate aileron impact. Additionally mass-equilibrated and other features were investigated. It can deduced that changing the position and mass properties of the aileron are tangible following the speed and frequency of More >
