    Hybrid Multimodal Biometric Template Protection

    Naima Bousnina1, Sanaa Ghouzali2,*, Mounia Mikram1,3, Maryam Lafkih1, Ohoud Nafea4, Muna Al-Razgan2, Wadood Abdul4

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.1, pp. 35-51, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.014694 - 07 January 2021

Abstract Biometric template disclosure starts gaining an important concern in deploying practical biometric authentication systems, where an assailant compromises the database for illegitimate access. To protect biometric templates from disclosure attacks, biometric authentication systems should meet these four requirements: security, diversity, revocability, and performance. Different methods have been suggested in the literature such as feature transformation techniques and biometric cryptosystems. However, no single method could satisfy the four requirements, giving rise to the deployment of hybrid mechanisms. In this context, the current paper proposes a hybrid system for multimodal biometric template protection to provide robustness against… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.27, No.1, pp. 89-102, 2021, DOI:10.32604/iasc.2021.013643 - 07 January 2021

Abstract Increase in demand for multimedia and quality services requires 5G networks to resolve issues such as slicing, allocation, forwarding, and control using techniques such as software-defined networking (SDN) and network function virtualization. In this study, the optimum number of SDN multi-controllers are implemented based on a multi-criterion advanced genetic algorithm that takes into consideration three key parameters: Switch controller latency, hopcount, and link utilization. Preprocessing is the first step, in which delay, delay paths, hopcount, and hoppaths are computed as an information matrix (Infomat). Randomization is the second step, and consists of initially placing controllers… More >

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.26, No.2, pp. 341-351, 2020, DOI:10.31209/2019.100000104

Abstract As a biological signal existing in the human living body, the electrocardiogram (ECG) contains abundantly personal information and fulfils the basic characteristics of identity recognition. It has been widely used in the field of individual identification research in recent years. The common process of identity recognition includes three steps: ECG signals preprocessing, feature extraction and processing, beat classification recognition. However, the existing ECG classification models are sensitive to limitations of database type and extracted features dimension, which makes classification accuracy difficult to improve and cannot meet the needs of practical applications. To tackle the problem,… More >

Abstract In order to solve the problem of patient information security protection in medical images, whilst also taking into consideration the unchangeable particularity of medical images to the lesion area and the need for medical images themselves to be protected, a novel robust watermarking algorithm for encrypted medical images based on dual-tree complex wavelet transform and discrete cosine transform (DTCWT-DCT) and chaotic map is proposed in this paper. First, DTCWT-DCT transformation was performed on medical images, and dot product was per-formed in relation to the transformation matrix and logistic map. Inverse transformation was undertaken to obtain… More >

    Bin Lu1, Fenlin Liu1, Xin Ge1,*, Zhenyu Li2

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.61, No.2, pp. 687-699, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.05633

Abstract Due to the characteristics of chaotic systems, different cryptosystems based on chaos have been proposed to satisfy the security of multimedia data. A plain image-related chaotic algorithm is proposed by Luo et al. with high speed and efficiency. Security weaknesses of the cryptosystem are studied in this paper. It is found that the important secret key information is leaked because an important parameter can be obtained after an inverse operation in the last step of the cryptosystems without secret key. Meanwhile, the value zero is processed improperly in quantification algorithm. Based on the weaknesses, chosen More >

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.58, No.1, pp. 263-285, 2019, DOI:10.32604/cmc.2019.03924

Abstract Watermarking is a widely used solution to the problems of authentication and copyright protection of digital media especially for images, videos, and audio data. Chaos is one of the emerging techniques adopted in image watermarking schemes due to its intrinsic cryptographic properties. This paper proposes a new chaotic hybrid watermarking method combining Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT), Z-transform (ZT) and Bidiagonal Singular Value Decomposition (BSVD). The original image is decomposed into 3-level DWT, and then, ZT is applied on the HH3 and HL3 sub-bands. The watermark image is encrypted using Arnold Cat Map. BSVD for the More >

    Dongping Tiana,b

    Intelligent Automation & Soft Computing, Vol.24, No.2, pp. 331-342, 2018, DOI:10.1080/10798587.2017.1293881

Abstract Particle swarm optimization (PSO) is a population based swarm intelligence algorithm that has been deeply studied and widely applied to a variety of problems. However, it is easily trapped into the local optima and premature convergence appears when solving complex multimodal problems. To address these issues, we present a new particle swarm optimization by introducing chaotic maps (Tent and Logistic) and Gaussian mutation mechanism as well as a local re-initialization strategy into the standard PSO algorithm. On one hand, the chaotic map is utilized to generate uniformly distributed particles to improve the quality of the… More >

Abstract Various chaos-based image encryption schemes have been proposed in last few years. The proposed image encryption method uses chaotic map. The encryption is done by using 256 bit long external secret key. The initial condition for the chaotic mapping is evaluated by the use of external secret key along with the mapping function. Besides that, the proposed method is made more robust by applying multiple operations to the pixels of the image depending on the outcome of the calculation of the logistic map. Moreover, block shuffling of the image and modifying the secret key after More >

    Yang Yang1, *

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.116, No.3, pp. 365-389, 2018, DOI:10.31614/cmes.2018.03847

Abstract The selection of machining parameters directly affects the production time, quality, cost, and other process performance measures for multi-pass milling. Optimization of machining parameters is of great significance. However, it is a nonlinear constrained optimization problem, which is very difficult to obtain satisfactory solutions by traditional optimization methods. A new optimization technique combined chaotic operator and imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA) is proposed to solve this problem. The ICA simulates the competition between the empires. It is a population-based meta-heuristic algorithm for unconstrained optimization problems. Imperialist development operator based on chaotic sequence is introduced to improve… More >

    Zhenjun Tang1,*, Man Ling1, Heng Yao1, Zhenxing Qian2, Xianquan Zhang1, Jilian Zhang3, Shijie Xu1

    CMC-Computers, Materials & Continua, Vol.55, No.2, pp. 331-344, 2018, DOI:10.3970/cmc.2018.02222

Abstract Image hashing is a useful multimedia technology for many applications, such as image authentication, image retrieval, image copy detection and image forensics. In this paper, we propose a robust image hashing based on random Gabor filtering and discrete wavelet transform (DWT). Specifically, robust and secure image features are first extracted from the normalized image by Gabor filtering and a chaotic map called Skew tent map, and then are compressed via a single-level 2-D DWT. Image hash is finally obtained by concatenating DWT coefficients in the LL sub-band. Many experiments with open image datasets are carried More >
