Abstract Choriocarcinoma is one of the gestational trophoblastic neoplasias (GTNs) that originate in the chorionic villi and the extravillous trophoblast. Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a type of non-protein-coding RNAs that have recently been implicated in human tumorigenesis. The present study investigated the role of the lncRNA LINC00261 in cell proliferation, metastasis, and apoptosis in choriocarcinoma cell lines. The transcription level of LINC00261 was significantly lower in choriocarcinoma tissues and in choriocarcinoma cell lines. Overexpression of LINC00261 caused a decrease in cell proliferation and arrested the cell cycle at the G0/G1 phase. Furthermore, overexpression of LINC00261 inhibited More >

Abstract Ovarian cancer is one of the leading causes of gynecological cancer-related deaths worldwide. We investigated the role of a newly discovered long noncoding RNA, NR_026689, in cell proliferation, metastasis, and apoptosis in ovarian cancer cells. Our results showed that NR_026689 was overexpressed in both clinical ovarian cancer patients and cultured ovarian cancer cells. Knockdown of NR_026689 in HO-8910PM cells significantly decreased the cell proliferative rate and the ability to form colonies. Transwell assays revealed that depletion of NR_026689 suppressed cell migration ability by 68% and cell invasive capacity by 71% in HO-8910PM cells. Moreover, specific More >

    Jin G1,2, XM Tang3, Y Niu4, XY Huang2, T Chen2, Q Huang2, J Zhang2, RY Zhou1

    Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany, Vol.86, pp. 137-142, 2017, DOI:10.32604/phyton.2017.86.137

Abstract In plants, the mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenase (complex I) is a large protein complex transferring electrons to ubiquinone. For the nine chondriogenes encoding complex I subunits (nad1, nad2, nad3, nad4, nad4L, nad5, nad6, nad7, and nad9), an efficient strategy for the cloning of complete coding sequences (CDSs) is important. Specific orthologous portions of untranslated regions (UTRs) were found based on multiple sequence alignments of chondriogene orthologues encoding complex I subunits in plant species. Based on the conservation of partial UTRs, a one-step PCR strategy was conceived for the cloning of CDSs of the nine chondriogene orthologues. Using… More >

Juan Li, Hui Meng, Yun Bai, Kai Wang

    Oncology Research, Vol.23, No.5, pp. 205-217, 2015, DOI:10.3727/096504016X14549667334007

Abstract Metastasis is the primary cause of cancer-related death all over the world. Metastasis is a process by which cancer spreads from the place at which it first arose to distant locations in the body. It is well known that several steps are necessary for this process, including cancer cell epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT), cell migration, resistance to anoikis, and angiogenesis. Therefore, investigating the molecular mechanism of regulating cancer metastasis progress may provide helpful insights in the development of efficient diagnosis and therapeutic strategy. Recent studies have indicated that long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) play important roles in More >
