    Oncologie, Vol.24, No.2, pp. 349-356, 2022, DOI:10.32604/oncologie.2022.022436 - 29 June 2022

Abstract Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are rare neoplasms arising from mesenchymal cells of the digestive tract and abdomen. Only a few isolated cases of giant esophageal GISTs (greater than 5 cm in size) have been reported with clinical features and surgical methods. Radical esophagectomy with negative margins, followed by gastric tube reconstruction, is recommended for giant esophageal GISTs. However, patients undergoing this type of surgery experienced a sharp decrease in food intake (due to the removal of most of the stomach) and were prone to eating regurgitation, resulting in poor quality of life. We describe the… More >

Abstract It is widely accepted that tumor metastasis is the dominant factor leading to cancer-related death. Tumor metastasis is mediated by cell invasion, blood circulation and lymphatic circulation. Paclitaxel, as a common anti-tumor drug and a mitotic inhibitor, promotes microtubule assembly and inhibits microtubule depolymerization. In addition, ticagrelor, an anti-platelet drug, is used to treat acute coronary syndrome. Increasing numbers of studies have reported that platelets can facilitate tumor metastasis. Therefore, inhibiting the effects of platelets can serve as a novel therapeutic strategy for cancer. To explore the effect of anti-tumor and anti-platelet drugs on tumor More >

    Zejie Wang1, Qianxin Wang1,*, Sanxi Li2

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.132, No.3, pp. 823-843, 2022, DOI:10.32604/cmes.2022.020106 - 27 June 2022

Abstract The combination of Precision Point Positioning (PPP) with Multi-Global Navigation Satellite System (MultiGNSS), called MGPPP, can improve the positioning precision and shorten the convergence time more effectively than the combination of PPP with only the BeiDou Navigation Satellite System (BDS). However, the Inter-System Bias (ISB) measurement of Multi-GNSS, including the time system offset, the coordinate system difference, and the inter-system hardware delay bias, must be considered for Multi-GNSS data fusion processing. The detected ISB can be well modeled and predicted by using a quadratic model (QM), an autoregressive integrated moving average model (ARIMA), as well… More >

    BIOCELL, Vol.46, No.9, pp. 2133-2144, 2022, DOI:10.32604/biocell.2022.020512 - 18 May 2022

Abstract Cotton is widely distributed worldwide, and improving the quality of its fiber is one of the most important tasks in cotton breeding. Cotton fibers are primarily composed of cellulose, which is synthesized by CesA complexes (CSCs). However, the functions of CesA genes in cotton fiber development have not been comprehensively analysed. In this study, the cotton transcriptome and metabolome were used to investigate the function of CesA genes in fiber development. Finally, 321 metabolites were obtained, 84 of which were associated with the corresponding genes. Interestingly, a target gene named Gh_A08G144300, one of the CesA gene family members, More >

    Abstract

The thermo-economic performance of a gas turbine is simulated using a fish bone technique to characterize the major equipment failure causes. Moreover a fault tree analysis and a Pareto technique are implemented to identify the related failure modes, and the percentage and frequency of failures, respectively. A pump 101 and drier 301 belonging to the Tabriz Petrochemical Company are considered for such analysis, which is complemented with a regression method to determine a behavioral model of this equipment over a twenty-year period. Research findings indicate that 81% of major failure factors in production equipment are related
