    T. Sravan Kumar, B. Rushi Kumar*

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.9, pp. 1-7, 2017, DOI:10.5098/hmt.9.13

Abstract In this work, the steady natural convective boundary layer flow of nanofluid and heat transfer over a stretching sheet in the presence of a uniform transverse magnetic field is investigated. We consider two different base fluids and three different nanoparticles were examined as nanofluid. A new model was used in the simulation of nanofluid. Similarity transformations are used to obtain a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The resulting equations are solved numerically by shooting method with Runge-Kutta fourth order scheme (MATLAB package). The effects of various parameters describing the transport in the presence of More >

    Structural Durability & Health Monitoring, Vol.11, No.1, pp. 69-90, 2017, DOI:10.3970/sdhm.2017.012.069

Abstract Renewable energy sources are considered much in energy fields because of the contemporary energy calamities. Among the important alternatives being considered, wind energy is a durable competitor because of its dependability due to the development of the innovations, comparative cost effectiveness and great framework. To yield wind energy more proficiently, the structure of wind turbines has turned out to be substantially bigger, creating conservation and renovation works troublesome. Due to various ecological conditions, wind turbine blades are subjected to vibration and it leads to failure. If the failure is not diagnosed early, it will lead… More >

    PoojaJhunjhunwala1, P.M. Padole2, S.B. Thombre3

    Molecular & Cellular Biomechanics, Vol.13, No.1, pp. 1-21, 2016, DOI:10.3970/mcb.2016.013.001

Abstract This paper presents Computational fluid dynamic (CFD) analysis of blood flow in three different 3-D models of left coronary artery (LCA). A comparative study of flow parameters (pressure distribution, velocity distribution and wall shear stress) in each of the models is done for a non-Newtonian (Carreau) as well as the Newtonian nature of blood viscosity over a complete cardiac cycle. The difference between these two types of behavior of blood is studied for both transient and steady states of flow. Additionally, flow parameters are compared for steady and transient boundary conditions considering blood as non-Newtonian More >

A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY AND RHEOLOGY PROPERTIES OF ALUMINA AND MULTI-WALLED CARBON NANOTUBE NANOFLUIDS

Zan Wua, Zhaozan Fengb, Bengt Sundéna,*, Lars Wadsöc

Frontiers in Heat and Mass Transfer, Vol.5, pp. 1-10, 2014, DOI:10.5098/hmt.5.18

Abstract Thermal conductivity and rheology behavior of two aqueous nanofluids, i.e., alumina and multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) nanofluids, were experimentally investigated and compared with previous analytical models. Information about the possible agglomeration size and interfacial thermal resistance in the nanofluids were obtained and partially validated. By incorporating the effects of interfacial thermal resistance, a revised model was found to accurately reproduce the experimental data based on the agglomeration size extracted from the rheology analysis. In addition, the thermal conductivity change of the alumina/water nanofluid with elapsed time was investigated. Thermal conductivity measurements were also conducted for More >

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.95, No.4, pp. 303-315, 2013, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2013.095.303

Abstract Dissipative particle dynamics (DPD) and molecular dynamics (MD) are both Lagrangian particle-based methods with similar equations except that the DPD specification for the force definition on the particles is the result of coarsegraining, and these two methods usually get the similar results in some specific cases. However, there are still some unknown differences between them. Considering the water response to external force, a comparative study of DPD and MD is conducted in this paper, which provides a better understanding on their relation, and a potential way to effectively bridge nanoscale and mesoscale simulation procedures. A.V. Ekhlakov1,2, O.M. Khay1,3, Ch. Zhang1, X.W. Gao4, J. Sladek5, V. Sladek5

    CMES-Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences, Vol.92, No.6, pp. 595-614, 2013, DOI:10.3970/cmes.2013.092.595

Abstract A boundary-domain integral equation method is applied to the transient thermoelastic crack analysis in functionally graded materials. Fundamental solutions for homogeneous, isotropic and linear elastic materials are used to derive the boundary-domain integral equations. The radial integration method, the Cartesian transformation method and the cell-integration method are applied for the evaluation of the arising domain-integrals. Numerical results for dynamic stress intensity factors obtained by the three approaches are presented, compared and discussed to show the accuracy and the efficiency of the domain-integral evaluation techniques. Abstract This paper focuses on the comparative study of global and local meshless methods based on collocation with radial basis functions for solving two dimensional initial boundary value diffusion-reaction problem with Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions. A similar study was performed for the boundary value problem with Laplace equation by Lee, Liu, and Fan (2003). In both global and local methods discussed, the time discretization is performed in explicit and implicit way and the multiquadric radial basis functions (RBFs) are used to interpolate diffusion-reaction variable and its spatial derivatives. Five and nine nodded sub-domains are used… More >

    Mohamed Rady1, Eric Arquis2

    FDMP-Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing, Vol.6, No.2, pp. 137-152, 2010, DOI:10.3970/fdmp.2010.006.137

Abstract In the present article, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and a modified T-history method have been used to study the phase changing behavior of granular composites. Further modifications and improvements of the two methods are employed to handle granular materials undergoing phase change over a temperature range. A simple procedure has been advised to obtain accurate results from the DSC measurements based on the estimation of the thermal resistance between the sample and its enclosure. The concept of enthalpy and its relationship with temperature has been employed in the T-history analysis to obtain enthalpy-temperature and apparent More >
