    Abstract The data collection approach called Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) was used in five villages: Killi Tor Shore; Medadzai; Ghunda; Kala Ragha, and Killi Shaban. Up to five groups were sampled in each village, comprising a total of 17 villages within the Zarghoon Juniper ecosystem. This area is rich both historically and culturally for using medicinal plants, mostly by women (60%). In this study, 26 species of medicinal plants fit in 20 genera and 13 families.     Abstract The aim of the present study was to investigate the efficiency of the encapsulation-dehydration technique for cryopreservation of Cyrtopodium hastchbachii Pabst seeds. Immature seeds of this species were cryopreserved by an encapsulation-dehydration technique.     Abstract Knowledge about the diversity patterns of vascular epiphytes and vines in the Valdivian rainforest of South America between 2000 and 2010 was systematized. The method was based on the review of publications available in four electronic databases using keywords.     Abstract Objectives: To evaluate the effect of zoledronic acid on androgen deprivation therapy in patients with hormone-sensitive prostate cancer by measuring the percentage change in lumbar-spine bone mineral density (BMD) at 12 and 24 months.

    Abstract About 15% of the world surface is subjected to the effect of man activities. The main causes of land surface degradation are livestock production, deforestation and inadequate agricultural practices. In Mexico, little attention has been given to soil conservation as a non-renewable natural resource. This has been mainly degraded by excessive use of agricultural machinery.     TVD Finite Element Scheme for Hyperbolic Systems of Conservation Laws

    Abstract A finite element scheme based on the concept of TVD (total variation diminishing) with a flux-limiter for the hyperbolic systems of conservation laws is presented. The numerical flux is formulated effectively by the weighted integral form using exponential weighting functions. The TVD finite element scheme is applied to a Riemann problem, namely the shock-tube problem, for the Euler system of equations. Numerical results demonstrate the workability and the validity of the present approach through comparison with the exact solutions. More >

    Abstract In this paper, a model is introduced to examine the evolution of the microstructure function under plastic deformations. This model is based upon a double continuity relationship that conserves both material particles in the mass space and orientations in the orientation space.     Abstract An in vitro collection has been established with selected European aspen from Palencia province (Spain). Currently, this collection includes 32 high quality clones, selected for their good bearing and healthy state. Most of them belong to different discrete local populations.

    Abstract The dynamics of flexible systems, such as robot manipulators, mechanical chains or cables, is becoming increasingly important in engineering. The main question arising from the numerical modelling of large overall motions of multibody systems is an appropriate treatment for the large rotations. In the present work an alternative approach is proposed leading to a time-stepping numerical algorithm which achieves stable solutions combined with high precision.
